Half Byte Loader Rev 95 Stable Released.

Wololo has now released HBL revision 95 stable. This fixes the sound issue with picodrive at 44kHz, bugs with save games in Snes9xTYL, increased homebrew compatibility and version .02 of wMenu. Changelog below.

Half Byte Loader Rev 95 changelog:

- Fixed the bug sounds in PicoDrive (set the sound to 44kHz);
- Improved compatibility with homebrew
- Fixed bugs with save games in Snes9xTYL;
- Added wMenu 0.2.

You know the drill: you need 5.50, 5.55, 5.70, 6.00, 6.10 or 6.20 firmware, the Papaton 2 demo, the save game data exploit and of course HBL revision 95 stable. You can download them all below.

How to use the Half Byte homebrew loader:

Download and install the Patapon 2 demo to your MemoryStick or /Mass Memory (PSP Go)

Download the HBL revision 96 and copy the “hbl” directory and the “h.bin” file to memory root

Now copy the hacked save data folder UCUS98732_DATA02 to /PSP/SAVEDATA

Move any homebrew you want to play or try to the folder: /PSP/GAME

Start the Patapon 2 demo and load the hacked save game, then load your homebrew from the HBL menu

There are 218 homebrews which work on HBL… Arent theese enough for you?xD(Wow…HBL has really growed up since only simple turn and tetris worked…T.O.M.E. was the first big homebrew which worked on HBL,wasn’t it?)

* Play ISO’s, CSO’s, and things like that. That’s what the Koens Loader is being developed for. It’s being developed by jaja2u.

Could’ve spared the sarcasm abit there. Anyway, i had a look with google. Does this even sound possible? ISO’s and such require kernel access which (as far as i know) doesnt allow kernel access.

Wrong.A homebrew which loads ISOs does NOT require kernel acces.The ISO loader itself(I mean just putting ISOs in the ISO folder)requires kernel acces.

GREAT!WiFi Controller works again on HBL xD If the SNES 9X bug in saving was fixed,I’m 100% that other emulators which had this problem now are working perfect.I also cant wait to hear the Green Hill Zone theme again xDAnd a new menu…Wow,so many cool things … It wasn’t like this since R85…

Every revision up until this one has worked for me. REV 95 crashes as soon as the HBL loading screen starts. I have a Metal Gear Solid PSP 3000 Firmware 6.20. Quite disappointing

Oh well…He kinda made it better,but this will make more crashes.You’ll need to open hbl_configh.txt file and set the override_scePeekBufferPositive to 0.This will make emulators work better,but it means more crashes.And I dont think I spoke about wololo….I think it was Salvy xD He is working on DaedalusX64 and he made a modifed version of R94 to work better with DaedalusX64 for HBL R1(the second revision is still crashing after 2 minutes of playing…).Just dont ask me for a link

Nope i believe that whats mine is mine and i should b able to do with it what i want to do with it. But Sony takes that away. Its like buying a car and not be allowed to pimp it….. catch my drift…
BTW i make iso’s using my own umd’s which i payed for… But now i cant use the games i payed for on my PSPgo but im cool with that coz i dont really like official psp games im more into the home-brew stuff…So If sony wanted to stop piracy of games why didn’t they make it impossible to rip games or what ever and left us with the psp systems to do with it what we wanted to???

Insisto que o meu psp modelo 3010 fw 6.2x placa maldita esta funcionando com mame4all, com roms antigas abaixo de 1990 nada cps1 ou 2 ou mais sofisticadas, o fba com sf2 ou ffght nda de mvs ou cps mais comuns paraeste emulador, não sou programador, mas sera que posso ajudar a melhorar estes emuladores

But i just dont get it/ My impatience made me upgrade to 6.30 because i wanted the little big planet update. It was saying that i had to update to access the playstation store so i did. (i have psp go btw) so then i think to myself that someone will figure out a new hack soon. but it looks like they are not working on one. that really got me sad. i need to get in contact wit wololo. if anyone can help me please. like you dont know how much hacking my psp means to me. gay sony. i mean, it was a difficult decision you know.

Well if anyone knows if they are even WORKING on a hack for 6.30 please let me know ASAP because i am really sad. But like i just dont get it. For ipod touches and iphones, when a new software update comes out, they are able to hack it in like a day! Why cant they do the same with psp. i just dont get it.

Dude i think all of us are feeling sad for you right now … and i think your goin to be waiting for a long time cus wololo and the team are working on the improvments for HBL on 6.20 or below and GOD (if there is one) knows how long there going to be .
BTW there was a post on this site that someone had a HBL that worked on OFW 6.30 i say there looking that up an try and get intouch with the guy and see if he can help P.s. i heard rumors that its a fake

or you can get a pardora battery and MMS and try to downgrade then download the 6.20 update and update to it… or if the downgrade work you can always move to CFW its up to u but i thnk u should come back to HBL

Lol,welcome to my anterior life…I just waited a lot until HBL appeared because I thought ChickHEN works on all the firmwares…Lololol,Ive changed a lot since then…However,if this will make you feel better,if any exploit is released for FW 6.30 ,HBL will move to that exploit so that it will work on 6.20 and 6.30 too.Wololo himself said this.So,you should see Half Byte Loader like a not released homebrew loader for 6.30.Anyway,dont make so many hopes.I have waited for about 6 mounths until HBL appeared.I’m really sorry for you,I know exactly how do you feel.The idea is that life goes ahead,and you must not think only at hacking.Just have fun with your friends until an exploit comes up.The time will look way shorter than it is if you do this

Only Genesis/Megadrive and Sega CD games work on Picodrive.Use Emumaster or SMS Plus if you want to play Sega Master System games.Other than that,I dont think there are more Sega consoles which can be emulated…

In general,yes.Some games may be on Genesis and not on Megadrive and vice versa,but mostly they have the same games.I would recommend Genesis games because they bring more nostalgia

No….Afaik,there should be a plugin for this,but HBL does not load plugins yet so…

You would usually need to create a seplugins folder,to put there a prx file and two text files which must name the homebrew you want to load,but HBL does NOT support plugins,so we’ll have to wait.HBL needs to load external modules first,cuz it actually loads only the principal module…Or it could load ONE external module…?Well,nvm,HBL does load modules only from homebrews at the moment.

haven’t trued this revision yet but im stil using the 85, tryed the 93 and went bac tot 85 noticed it was way more stable and the fact when u quit ur emulator u get brought back to ur psp home menu. 93 it crapped out on me, but continue the work guys, dont think ppl dont appreciate ur work lol

Wrong.Wololo himself said R93 is more stable.It was really the first stable revision since R85.R95 is now better than R93.However,while you will get bored by the single player games,everyone will play Doom and Capcon cps1 games at multiplayer mode,so its your choice.(Just saw a testing page and there were more homebrews reported to work on R93 than on R85)

as for home brew i;ve only been playing gba and snes, but the only game that didn’t;t work for me for gba at least the ones i was playing was shining soul 2, except for that the rest played well. but ty again for the direct update ill for sure upgrade to 95.

just to let everyone know, this as well as rev 94, both work for firmware 5.03, on a psp 3001. I have not tried any of the other revisions but i bet they work also. since there is chickhen there is no need for it but just letting people know. and pacuman works for this, it is a pacman homebrew game.

You mean how to play homebrews using WiFi?.If its an application,then your homebrew should just search for connections.If youre talking about Network in general,then you should know this:
At homebrew games its very simple:just go to multiplayer mode xD NOTE:There may be Infrastructure multiplayer or AdHoc multiplayer;The Infrastructure mode is NOT confirmed to work.The AdHoc mode is confirmed.
Now for the first question,the last revision for KL is R4.As you know,KL does not load anything at the moment.Its just a bunch of codes wich will help in the future this project.
BTW,No need to correct yourself,as far as I understand what are you saying

great menu update and glad the picodrive sound bugs are fixed but it says improved homebrew compatibility. can someone tell me any good homebrew games besides counter strike and battlegrounds 3 because those are the only 2 i can find tht work and they have been working since r93. man i wish kurok would work soon. and when i say games i mean a game not an app like wifi controller or something.thanks. and nicely done wololo btw

My bad I think the one who is working on this homebrew reported it to work on HBL.Its not released yet…Just put AC/DC songs on Guitar Star…Guitar Hero AC/DC for PSP its just a mod of the original Guitar Star,anyway…

Sorry mate,it must be your fault,HBL works on all the models and all the firmwares up to 6.20…Well,I think I know whats wrong.I heard you need a memory stick to run HBL,but anyway…Moslty you alredy updated,so good luck anyway…

You will need a memory stick to start HBL since that’s where you saved your savegame data.

Wrong.Afaik,there is the memory stick AND an internal memory for PSP Go.HBL only works with the memory stick.

Did someone say Tipster UnZip/UnRAR work? Because it didn’t. PSP Filer 4.4 doesn’t work as much as it used to, though. For me now, it has something like a 71% success rate.

Yeah,its on the official compatible list for HBL but it didnt work for me neither…Anyway,PSP File Extractor works very well if youre looking for extracting rar/zip files, so you should try it.

Yeah capcon cps1 does work on this.Try 2.0.6, 2.3.1 doesn’t seem to work…Also,I recommend you to use the AdHoc version.

What GBA emulator are you trying to use?The GBA emulator for HBL never worked for me,but gpSP Kai works.If you are trying gpSP Kai,be sure that it is 3.2,gpSP Kai 3.4 does NOT work.

i have a psp 1000 with 5.50 firmware, can i use this run hellcats recovery flasher and switch to 5.00 m33-6?
