Half Byte Loader Rev 93 Stable Released

Share

Wololo has released HBL / Rev 93 Stable. Its the next step up from Rev 85 as far as it comes as stable releases, so its has increased stability and compatibility with more homebrew games. Note to mention a flash new menu :) You know the drill, you need 6.20 firmware, Papaton 2 demo, the save game data exploit and of course HBL rev 93 Stable. You can grab them all below.

How to use the Half Byte homebrew loader:

  1. Download and install the Patapon 2 demo to your MemoryStick or /Mass Memory (PSP Go)
  2. Download the HBL Rev 93 release and copy the “hbl” directory and the “h.bin” file to memory root
  3. Now copy the hacked save data folder UCUS98732_DATA02 to /PSP/SAVEDATA
  4. Move any homebrew you want to play or try to the folder: /PSP/GAME
  5. Start the Patapon 2 demo and load the hacked save game, then load your homebrew from the HBL menu ;)

Blegh… on second thought, PicoDrive’s the only one working (and without sound btw)… MasterBoy, gpsp and the others keep restarting the system. Back to Disgaea for me…. *patiently waits for the next update*

      • Tyler

Daedalus works fine though. As long as sound is turned off just like with CFW.

  • garu9393

what do you mean, would it still work for version 6.30?

Just try things out you want to play. Either they work or they don’t. ISO’s don’t work so don’t try them. A few emulators like gpSP, a SNES emu by the same person, a few builds of Daedalus, masterboy, and few other things work as well. Try those.

      • Jtotheb1

        Which build of Daedalus?

      • Tyler

Daedalus R14 works perfectly. Full speed too for Mario Kart, Super Mario, MRC and some others if you have the sound off. Still runs well even with sound on aswell but it a little laggy if you choose to have sound.

      • Jtotheb1

I tired using R14 but it says memory leak and stuff im using a PSP slim 3001 with 6.20 ofw Help plz

      • Tyler

I have the exact same PSP and im not getting that issue. Very strange that you are.

That’s not an emulator, it’s homebrew. If you want to download it check on the brother forum, pspgohacks. The download link is there.

    • ledbetterp3

    • Tyler

Daedalus R14 works like a charm.

  • GrimmDaReaper

daedalus x64 alpha works. and Snes9x Ver.003 did work on r85 but currently is not loading on r93 (I have to do some more tests to see if there is a SNES compatible for r93) and yes CSPSP works on all psps.

    • Jtotheb1

      Which build????

    • Tyler

Please tell me which build of Daedalus alpha. I cant play Goldeneye and some others on R14 :/

    • http://pspslimhacks.com/ PSPFan

Which exact Daedalus build is it? I can’t get any I try it seems to work.

      • Tyler

Well Daedalusx64 Beta 1 is working. Though its abit funny about change settings and exiting to XMB.

  • dragonkiller1121

  • ledbetterp3

now that it is more comatible with homebrew and more stable, would it be a good idea to update from 5.03speed3/chickhen to this? i have a psp 3k and i can load mhu speed but i dont care about cfw gen-c so would it be better if gen-c didnt exist? and does gotube work with this?? Please answer and thanks!

    • max1c

I would still recommend to wait a little longer. It’s still slow in some areas and not everything works. But it’s your decision.

      • ledbetterp3

ok i think ill wait, but does gotube work??

  • Wolfdawg

To bad homer’s rin doesnt work past R85

  • jeralzon

  • timtop

How to put games on this? any tutorial or instruction there?

  • GrimmDaReaper

in terms of daedalus you should probably be using the one on this website. Scroll down on the main page and download r516.

Timtop i’m pretty sure if you go to the main page of this site also and go to the previous posts there is hbl r85 instructions on how to do so. r93 is installed the same way.

    • Tyler

So Daedalusx64 Rev 516 works on HBL R93?

  • cluzex

    Question….
    1. do i still have to use a emulator to play games????
    2. can download and play cso, iso games????
    3. i can doanload and play custom games only????

    • Fasih

      1. yes.
      2. nopes.
      3. if by custom u mean homebrew, then yes

      • cluzex

i already have the old HBL… what will i do??? i’ll just replace the h.bin and hbl directory???

    • cluzex

oops sorry for the question…… just discard this one =)

      i forgot HBL heheh….

  • MrBean

Anyone can post the download link of the homebrew showed above.

    Thx ^_^

  • cluzex

i tried to play GEMS…. but it wont work..

  • Khassenpspgo

im not sure if im wrong or corrent. but that looks like a counter strike game. in a old dos versions. i saw CSpsp i havnt tried the CSpsp yet. but so everyone knows its a Counter Strike port. known as CSpsp. if u paid any attention you would have seen CSpsp.

but AWESOME job on the new HBL port rev.

    • GrimmDaReaper

If you check PSPGOHACKS there is also the 3D version, of counterstrike.

  • Mr. Gamer

Just a quick overview for those asking questions (with a PSP Go running 6.20 firmware).

    1. NO, sadly this iteration of HBL is not running GPSP. Just like the previous versions it seems like HBL simply doesn’t like working with 6.20 PSPs. Most notable issue is still the “MEMORY LEAK!” before crashing. To state the obvious, yes, this is with the GPSP HBL mod.

    2. NesterJ working amazing, that’s all that needs to be said.

    3. PicoDrive still lacks sound. Works great but don’t be expecting any audio.

    4. Daedalus does indeed function but ONLY with an HBL mod. Why? Daedalus typically uses PRX modules for emulation and this is not supported by HBL. Which is why a mod is needed. Better detail and explanation at the official forums which is also where you can find the aforementioned mod – http://forums.daedalusx64.com/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=2432

    From personal experience:

    - Ocarina of Time doesn’t load no matter what. I have gotten it to boot once and then come across tons of errors and crash.

    - Mario Kart 64 runs but at a speed comparable to the revisions from around a year ago.

    - In a random test with Gex 64, it runs at a good speed but major graphical issues including Gex being invisible.

    - Smash Bros. barely works. Running at around 60-65% speed to begin with and a lot of graphical issues. Basically is playable if you’re pushing it but don’t expect it to be enjoyable.

    - Super Mario 64. runs pretty darn good, probably around 80-85% best experienced with a frame skip of “1″. Just like every other game though you must have sound disabled.

** Hope this helps some people and gives some decent FAQ answers to those who pester with common questions. This rev is decent and just remember that any type of homebrew is a novelty and patience is a virtue! **

    • Jtotheb1

TY SO MUCH DUDE THAT DAEDALUS ACTUALLY WORKS TY TY TY

    • Tyler

They didnt force you to update, you chose to.

  • Evil13killer

Ok alot of comments so will this work fine with psp 3000 and ofw 5.50 will do or what and one last thisg this will let me use homebrow does this mean i can play game or just emulaters

    • Wolfdawg

      only homebrews supported by HBL
this is not a full HEN
and emulators lose like 30% speed on HBL (gameboy and stuff like that works fine)
there are some random homebrews that work, so check out the older releases to find out
      google wolo wagic
      (sorry no links)

      • Wolfdawg

only some homebrews supported by hbl*

  • Side Scoop

If anyone is having trouble with the Patapon 2 demo from this site, you can download it directly on to your PSP at PSPDemos.

  • eternal noob

Few people saying GPSP isn’t working with this revision, not the case with me, it’s running as well as ever. Might be something to do with the modified HBL for daedalus as i seem to remember with an earlier HBL rev. I could get daedalus working and GPSP working but never both at the same time.

  • Dompa12

hey, this works for me,I loaded the mh gpspkai emulator(GBA)and it works great on PSP 3004,btw can someone pls give me the link to this game.thx

  • Mr. Gamer

To backtrack a tad about what I was saying earlier, there IS a version of gpsp out there for PSP Go systems running 6.20. And possibly other PSPs running 6.20 too; I’m just stating the PSP Go part to be specific. Tons of thanks to wololo himself for specifying the version to me and Drag on the PSP-Hacks network for uploading and linking the version up. You can find it at http://www.mediafire.com/?2vmn1f0olky and I can confirm it’s a gpsp version that’s actively running.

To quote wololo himself about the “HBL mod” of gpsp that many people with 6.20 are having issues with – “there’s a version of gpsp that works, I test it with EVERY release. I’m playing advanced wars with R93 without a problem on a psp go with 6.20 as I type.
The version you want is the Kai mod test 02. Look for it on m0skit0′s forums.
the “HBL mod gpsp” thingy was a fke made by a guy who doesn’t know how to code.”

Hey, I have a quick question.
I have a psp 2001 and I can load the Patapon 2 demo and select the save data, but when I press R it freezes and shuts off, what am I doing wrong?

    • Jtotheb1

You probably dont have the hbl folder and the h bin in the right place the go on the root of your mem stick

  • timtop

What are games that work on this? I have only WTH and CSPSP
I try deadalus 14 and deadalus rev 541(the latest one) but it always freeze

    • Tyler

It depends on what game you’re trying to play. It will only freeze if your playing an currently unsupported ROM.

  • mario0182

The new revision of daedalus x64 doesn’t work with this…

  • miguelgalit

a hen on psp 6.20/6.30 is possible right?

  • syedzafarazam

    Plz…i need REAL help…
Can this work on my Psp 1000 6.20???

    • PSP Bricker

this can work on your psp 1000
but your psp can have a complete CFW that will able you to do much more things that HBL cant do (like ruining iso’s and cso’s ,plugins )
you need a pandora battery to have a cfw

      • syedzafarazam

Thanx alot…but what can i do with the half byte loader after putting it in my psp..???

  • jcjven19

    password plssss for patapon 2….

  • ryan19907

    • oaky180

The “hbl” directory and the “h.bin” file must be in the wrong spot. It happened to be to. Just put it in the main area of your memory card and try again.

  • kirbycrusader

More homebrew games galore with this wonderful update! Now i can load 30 new games with this all from the PSP Slim Hacks website!

Sorry if this is against the rules but i found a website that shows all working homebrew games for each firmware version running Half Byte Loader.
    Link: http://advancedpsp.tk/foro_es/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=425

  • tylardthefatt

Hey theres a password on the patapon 2 demo rar
any one know what it is

    • cmartin138

As far as the password….your just going to have to download it at another site because I had the same problem. I can not get this rev 93 the run the nes or snes emus. They both show up on the hbl menu but when I click either one it freezes up for 3 or 4 seconds then shoots me back o the menu or shuts the psp off. anyone have a list on what works for sure with this or what im doing wrong?

  • timtop

What Daedalus will run in this HBL please. I want to play DS games so bad ^ ^

  • mario0182

so I guess Daedalus new revision is not compatible with this new version of HBL, I wanted to play RE2 but it just hangs

  • berabarber12

Will HBL eventually be able to run isos and csos ?? or will CFW come out first?

  • syedzafarazam

What will Hbl enable me to do?

    • hacktester

HBL means Half Byte Loader or Homebrew Loader.I wonder what a HOMEBREW Loader could done….hmm….Hard to guess.LOL you dont even need to know this, just take a look on the description!

  • whamozen

This HBL Version does work on my PSP ta88v3 with 6.20 OFW, bu the problem though is that it freezes when i quit the program. =(

  • MrBean

Anyone Using HBL Rev 93 Having issues When Quitting Games ??????
If The Problem Is Global, Pleases Report To Wololo.

  • Side Scoop

In order to return to the PSP’s main menu, you’ll have to find that option inside the homebrew you’re playing. That will take you back to the HBL’s menu, where you can press the triangle button to quit.

As for loading ISO’s or CSO’s, that won’t happen until the Koens Loader has a more stable release. Which will be a while.
