Half Byte Loader Being Ported to OFW 6.30

Just when you thought all hope was lost, now there is a light at the end of the tunnel. According to wololo and Mamosuke, coder J416 has began porting the Half Byte Loader () to work with OFW 6.30, and they offered the above video as proof. But much like everything else in this scene, don’t get too excited yet. Here is what wololo has to say:

Mamosuke just informed me that coder J416 started porting Half Byte Loader to firmware 6.30, based on his game previously found on 6.30.

Before you get your hopes too high:
- I haven’t tested this and I don’t know the name of the game, but I trust mamosuke (and therefore J416 as well), so I know this is real

- This is still work in progress and might take a few weeks before it is usable

- This relies on a game exploit, which is not a Demo. It means that people would have to buy that game, and additionally, it will most likely be patched very quick on the PSN, so interest is limited for PSP Go owners (although rumors say that a solution exist against Sony patching their games on the PSN)

To mamosuke and J416: Good luck guys, you know my email address if you need help on this. Also, please keep in mind that HBL is GPL, so if you release this, we’ll be expecting the sources as well ;)

Like wololo said, nothing has been released. At this point, you know just as much as we do, so please don’t flood us with questions about details…..

Of course, today we also learned that Sony is preparing to release OFW 6.31 shortly, supposedly before the end of the month. Will this exploit be patched in the new OFW? Only time will tell. In the meantime, keep it here for more information.

    Ya know, I dont think it is worth buying a gamefor an EXPLOIT. Now if I coud run some sort of homebrew that enables custom firmware on this exploit, I would definitely buy the game. But I just don’t think it is worth the money cause SONY is gonna patch it eventually. Im a PSP Go user myself (6.30).

    can’t wait to get rid of my 3000, i worked the whole week to earn extra cash so i can sell my 3000 and buy a 1000.

        i could, but a 1000 is a lot cheaper, and i’m going to use it strictly for dev.
        maybe for some games, but i heard 1000 is more stable, unless i’m wrong.

      and as for the hbl on 6.30 im definetly buying the game if its more than 9.99$ then nevermind cause its not going to be worth it seeing as after 6.31 i wont be able to enter the psn on my psp go and the psp go is all about psn

        well you could always use media go to buy/download and transfer to your go if you cant get on psn with ur pspgo. or through your ps3 and transfer it.

    damn I had a PSP 3000 Gen-c I sold it,I couldnt get my hand on a 5.03 ANYMORE they all sold out
    Now i have a new one 5.50 fw
    I have a bad feeling it never will boot ISO/CSO ,just the HBL but thats nothing compared to the 5.03 exploit
    I tried the Tiff expoit b4 and yes it stuck freeze
    Sony have made a Major protection on 5.50 and above to boot any Illegal ISO

    Great work Sony ,and hope they will be banned

    I wonder if these guys ever look for exploits in Demos. There are TONS of demos on the PSN. Why should they buy games just so they can look for exploits?

    Why do you continue with the 6.XX exploits there’s no point. The psp is not going to be Sony’s main hand held platform for much longer. I have a hunch but there going to make a hint at the next hand held for Sony. 3DS is announced and coming out March 2011. What Sony is going to do is wait about 3 months after E3 and then jump on the “oh we have a brand knew console as well”. That’s what Sony does most of the time.

    Sony is going to launch a 3D AMOLED ultra-portable handheld console, something you will plug in your blackberry to play online through facebook and a hdmi 1.3 output to play your games at full 1080p, and don’t forget the DVB-T tuner to keep you update with your favourites TV series… (sigh…)

    Plz guys, is there anyone out here that can confirm there will be a cfw 5.50 i hate to play witha UMD it drain the battery 5 times quicker then playing with a ISO ,and it much slower using UMD
    But ok on the other hand we have to support Sony for making games

    I went to a game store they sell second hand PSP ,i ask the seller may i ask check if it’s a 5.03 firmware on it he said why u want to know u gonna downgrade it or hack
    Standing 2 people with alot UMD to buy behind me and starring on me and listening but they had no clue I talked about

    I fell like a criminal that moment

    theirs already an hbl for 6.20 the patapon exploit, and their is also one for the 6.30 in the works just hasnt been released yet and/or finished, but im just going to wait it out cant wait till the release date

    Hurray today I have exhange my PSP go with a PSP 3000 5.03 Gen ,finally I hate HBL its just silly compared to chickhen I just know they never can sign into the kernal on higher FW
    The Sony team spend more time into disable exploits ,then making new games!!

    i have a psp 1000 on 5.00m33, a psp 2000 with 5.50GEN-D3, and a psp 3000 with GEN-C, but i really love my psp go i feel its alot easier to carry around, and i want HBL on it lol
