I’ve pretty much tried all the different methods posted on here, but I’m still not getting anything. The thing is that when I first connect my PSP 3001 the one that comes in the Ratchet and Clank package, I don’t have a PSP/PHOTO to put the file in. Rather I have, MP_ROOT, MUSIC, PICTURE, PSP, and VIDEO. So I tried putting the files into the PICTURE folder, and started loading the thumbnails. Usually it freezes and after a few seconds it shuts down on its own. Occasionally I get a black screen just as all the thumbnails have loaded, and eventually that shuts down as well. So if anyone can offer me some help, that would be greatly appreciated.

ive followed the instructions you guys have posted, but i still can’t run chicken r2. my psp just crashes every freakin’ time. btw, my psp has already been converted many times by a local store hacker, so i know it works on my psp 3000. the thing is, i wanna learn this trick on my own so i won’t have to travel back to the store every time my 4-year old son turns the unit off and erases the firmware and the games (which he does every other day!). kindly help me out, guys. thanks.

Hello Everyone. I’m New Here. I’m not replying to any of you. I’m just giving my ultimate tutorial on how to load chicken for those who have at least on UMD. Sorry for those who don’t. Because on my PSP 2004 Piano black this method worked x of x. WORKING 100% and I Bet on It. Here it is:
I. Make sure you’re on sony 5.03 & you have chickhen mod pics on your memory.
II. Turn UMD Auto-Start On & UMD Cache to off.
III. Insert Your UMD and run the game. wait for game to run and exit the game (using Home Button).
IV. Simply go to photo category on your PSP and click on Chickhen and there you go! your PSP is Homebrew enabled.
V. If you can not make it work using my method don’t blame me. Because i have one PSP and no one else of my kinsfolk have one to try this on it too. Simply reply to me that you didn’t succeed. But I like to notice that i used this method approximately 15 times and it worked all 15 times. BYE!

Oh! I forgot to say. If you’re suspicious of 15 times, then I should say I love downgrading, and upgrading again. So when I found this way, i was just too happy, (because I was trying to load it using any other methods for 2 hours and got nothing), and tested it for several times and it worked all times. And 3 days later to make sure that it’s totally working I did this several times again. Hey!!! remember to turn UMD cache off definitely or you may get some freezes until loading it. TURN UMD CACHE OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How to easily get ChickHEN started after your PSP 3000 shut down:
Make sure to have all the required files for ChickHEN in a folder, and h.bin in the root of the memory stick. In the folder with the images and the .tiff file, you should have some small jpeg files in there as well. a minimum of 3.
Restore default settings.
On the initial setup, scroll to the right until you have to press X.
Then, go to system settings, and disable UMD Cache & Autostart options.
Now go to the folder in which you pasted the images. It should work. If not, retry from step [Restore...]

Sorry Guys!!!! Pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase forgive me if you were bothered using my tutorial. I totally forgot to say you must format your memory card & restore default settings. If you want complete pack for downgrading (Including ChickHEN files & Recovery flasher for quickly downgrading) download this pack. It’s my own work!!! if not & you have the files (& A UMD) here is the complete guide:

I. Note That This Version Is Only For 2000 & 3000 (Slim & Lite, Brite) PSPs Running At Sony’s Official

Firmware 5.03 (Only).

II. Find Some Memory That You Do Not Want It’s Data (At Least 80MB of Free Space Is Needed) And Put It

In Your PSP. It Is Good If You Can Buy A 128MB Memory Stick For A Little Bucks Only For This Type of

Downgraders. Because .::Davee And Team Typhoon::. Are Releasing ChickHEN For Some Firmwares

Continuously . Anyaway, Go To .::System Settings::. On Your PSP And Click On .::Format Memory Stick::.

And Select YES To Format Your Memory Stick. **This Step Is Mandatory To Do**

III. Plug Your PSP To PC. Run .::Setup.exe::. & Specify The Path To Your PSP Root. Then Click Install.

Automatically Run The UMD Game. Immediately After The Game Is Boot Press .::Home::. And Exit The Game.

Those Who Don’t Have A UMD, After Configuring The System Should Directly Go To .::Photo::. Category And

Open ChikHEN Mod Folder.

VIII. Quickly Go To .::Photo::. Category & Open ChikHEN Mod Folder.

IX. In Step VIII, Like I Said Those Who Don’t Have A UMD May Exprience Some Issues Like Their PSP

Getting Frozen. They Should Turn Off PSP & Try Again. I Advise Them To Don’t Get Chilled & Do So Until

Seeing Some Strange Images On The PSP & The Power Light Flashing Green. The PSP Restarts & Now You Can

Enjoy A Homebrew Enabled PSP. UMD Owners Will Get It The First Time.

X. Your PSP Is Homebrew Enabled Until You Totally Shut It Down. So If You Want Your PSP To Stay

i have followed the guide BUT i have big problems with how to install the 5.03 version in to my psp i have the update on my memory card but when i try to update game/psp update ver 5.03 it says i already have the latest version and there is no need to uptdate…please help me i have struggle with this all day

I downloaded the PSP filmware 5.03, created the folder on da PSP/ GAME and called it UPDATE but my PSP keep saying Corrupted File or File Damage or something. I need help. My PSP is at 5.51 filmware. Sorry dude! you can’t downgrade from 5.51 right now. You should wait for hackers to find some exploit on this firmware and make it possible to downgrade. You’re on your mischance days that you have a 3004 PSP, ’cause if it was a 1000 or 2000 vTA088-v2 or lower you could solve your problem with pandora. But now you can’t (I think so).

hey ok so im trying to install Firmware 5.03 installed on my psp 3001 XPB series. The System Software that is running is version 5.01. I did everything the tutorial said about Firmware 5.03 but when i go to game it says the file is currupt. Can someone please help me?

ok so iv gotten Chickhen to work here and there some times after 2 trys sometimes after 100, but heres my problem, My psp has bean to freeze Randomly. Sometimes at the screen before you play a game the color PSP screen. some times when u scroll down to a game, where the description is, and even at the title where the time and battery life is to show up, it doesnt its just blue wavy lines movine, but nothing loads! in that case senario i have to take out the battery, and try again! iv had chickhen work after that but i want to know why my psp is freezing up randomly. also i need ideas for how to run chickhen more effectively, I have a PSP 3000 Firmwar 5.03, and a 4 gig mem stick iv downloaded, and run, enev beat games on it before, i have 14 pictures in the chickhen folder, most of whic hare flags of countries and the eggs! my psp freeezes i dont know why, Not at the chickhen part, i mean randomly, when it boots up, when i load a game or when i scroll down to a game, it doesnt happen all the time , but when it does i have to yank out the battery -.-, I have a psp 3000 and firmware 5.03, my chickhen folder has 14 pics which r flags and the eggs, sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt help!

Now my PSPS wont loadat all, I dont know what happened first it started to freeze, and not all it shows is the blue screen. I have no way of reseting it, all i can do is turn it on and off… should i try and let the battery die? I took out the mem stick and tried and it stil ldoesnt work, i think its my psp what should i do, do i need a new one?

You need to have a UMD in the drive and make sure that going to the pictures folder is the first thing you do after you switch on your psp. I just formatted my memory stick and took out the umd and ChickHEN was’nt loading and i though formatting the memory stick was the cause. I put the UMD back, turned the system off, turned it on again, went straight to the pictures folder, pressed X which opened the ChickHEN folder and there it was. ChickHEN had successfully loaded. This works everytime for me in a single try.
