GBA Emulator: gpSP-J 100211 (Feb 11 2010 build)

Share

More PSP emulator goodness via Japanese PSP Developer Takka. He has just released -J 100211 (Feb 11 2010 build) The latest tweak and bug fix build of his unofficial and now alpha -J which emulates the Gameboy Advance (). While there are many versions of this out there, its safe to say that this latest build should be the better of them.

It seems very fast and its its defiantly one of my favourite emulators. Take your pick and find which one you prefer and that plays your roms the best. One thing, the GUI in gpSP is in Japanese. However its pretty easy to figure out and your roms will run in English.

Baldurs Gate runs very smooth on this release, no audio stutter.

Don’t forgot in order to run this you’ll need to find a working GBA_BIOS.bin and place this in the main directory of this emulator. And no we cannot help you acquire this or GBA Roms…

I love this emulator, but there’s still occasional graphical issues. By the way, I don’t mind the Japanese GUI, considering my PSP is Japanese, and it gives it a more Nintendo-ish feel.

Oh, and this appears to be the first update since June 09′. Cool.

Lol this is a nice one:

“Don’t forgot in order to run this you’ll need to legally find a working GBA_BIOS.bin”

Lol that probably doesn’t even exist legally…

well, as many users have said countless times, “GOOGLE IS YOUR FRIEND.”

So are Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age finally playable fully without frequent freezes now? If so that’s awesome, I’ve been meaning to play them again before the new sequel comes out.

I hope this gets translated into English, I’ve been using UO gpSP kai 3.2 test 8.7 for a hella long time now and it plays perfectly for all games except the seemingly unemulatable NES classics (not even PC emus can do those though iirc) and the awesome Golden Sun games.

Good to see dudes are still dev’in for gpSP.

I think so, but you will have to test it a bit longer than I did. Golden Sun runs very smooth, I didn’t play it long enough to check for any freezes. But this has to be one of the best builds yet.

Other versions run Baldurs Gate with stutter and poor fps. This GBA emulator runs it perfectly.

Cheers for the reply PSPFan, I checked it out and after half an hour of gameplay there have been no freezes, there’s a tiiiny bit of slowdown when one attacks an enemy (and vice versa) but other than that it runs perfectly. I didn’t bother messing with the frameskip or other settings as I don’t read Japanese and the UI isn’t exactly the same as previous versions, maybe that’d help soften that little bit of slowdown though.

So yeah, the problem seems to finally be fixed, AWESOME! Cheers for the heads up mate.

not bad, although i am still a little attached to GPSP KAI, i may just keep both on my psp and decide which i like better.

  • microberry1

This emulator is much better than the latest gpSP Kai, it is much smoother and does its job well. When I was using gpsp kai, it would freeze during the opening scene of kingdom hearts com, but this new version could at least get through the opening scene, even though it messes up some of the colours of that scene. But anyway, it plays the game flawlessly.

I’ve used this enough to say its better than any UO gpSP Kai version. Lets hope takka has plans to make an English version for us.

Guys.. i was wondering, can the emulator stretch to full screen resolution when playing the rom? because im not a japanese, give me a little trouble to explore the configuration setting.. if can,how to do it?

    • wasnevhere

It is not that that hard to stretch to full screen resolution.
Hopefully i can make as clear as possible to do it:
      1Load A rom
2then hit the home button on the PSP to load the GUI
3From there go down to the Fifth option in the menu click the O button on the PSP
4This will take u another menu in GUI, there go down once, to the second option where u might see a number and % sign probably, might be set at 170% i think.
5Change it to 200% , and that will stretch the screen to full screen.

Hope it is clear enough to follow

      • wasnevhere

One more thing, setting it to 200% will be full screen but in some roms during game play some text might be cut off just a little bit to the top of the screen ,so i prefer using it at 190% which still stretched but it feels more comfortable in a way.

Oh, I forgot to mention in the steps that by step 4. before going down once to the second option nd changing it to 200% or your prefer resolution, to make sure to have the option above that to have only the symbols nd GU at the end of the first option. but that should already be at default , but if its not just adjust it.

        thanks.. that sure help.. =)

  • ColorblindMonk

I’m glad I know some Japanese.

  • sakne

uhmm sorry for a noob question here… is this work for pspgo ver.6.20???..sorry for the bad english

  • Pendragoon

Both Golden Sun games still have slowdown in the world map and in battle, an improvment since the music now runs faster, but there is still a lot of work needed before these games are truly enjoyable.

Kingdom Hearts:CoM does indeed get through the CG, but it still looks crummy. (normal game runs 100%)

I have tried every setting trying to get it to full screen like in the Kai versions, but it is stuck in that zoom level it seems.

I just tried that and it didn’t work at all.

It is the option that says 150% GU, 100% GU is the normal GBA 1:1 dot mode, The Japanese writing with the GU beside it is the full screen non stretched mode. (black bars on the side)

  • wasnevhere

Sorry For the double posting the above reply.

  • Casper88

Eh, I still prefer UO gpSP kai 3.2 test 8.7, it may not do GS or BG:DA but it’s got a better interface and better fullscreen.

  • wasnevhere

Its odd to me that those settings didnt work for you Pendragoon, but as for me they work well. I wonder if i missed something that i did on mines. hmm..

UO gpSP kai 3.2 test 8.7, can play Golden Sun with out freezing or crashing its one of my favorite games i play it on most of the time , and for Kindom of hearts (C.of.M) there was someone on youtube that showed how to get through the video scene when it freezed on Kai., just by saving the state.

    • darktech

  • darktech

i ultimately agree with all of you in saying this is better than GPSP kai, just ashamed i don’t know japanese :)
