Bubbletune has released Game Categories v7, the handy PSP prx plug-in that lets you categorize your games menu. With two modes, a mode which displays a menu pop up each time you open your Game Menu in the XMB and lets you choose the category. And the other displays multiple memory stick icons, one for each category.
Game Categories v7 Changelog:
Update: Version 5
- Fixed some firmware incompatibilities and related issues.
- A large number of internal changes aiming at memory conservation.
- If you change language in vsh the corresponding game_categories_xx.txt is now immediatly loaded.
- Themes which use space padding to position text should now be handled correctly.
- Introduced general support for UTF-8, including language files.
- Normal menu on Triangle for Game didn’t work in Context Mode, fixed.
- English and Japanese language codes were swapped internally, fixed.
- Plugin was causing an odd crash in Internet Search, fixed.Update: Version 6
- Did attempts to fix a few crashes, although I am unable to reproduce the bug in my own PSP.

Its great, espeically if you have many homebrew games and ISO files. As it saves you from having to scroll through a huge list of them to find the game you want.

Please someone tell me how to record a video like that in-PSP… Please ?

Last time this came out, it didnt work on my PSP (PSP 200x, 5.50 GEN-B (Full) ). Just got this now and it works Perfectly. Havent installed a Plugin in a while so kind of forgot how to make it work. After you put in Mem Stick, you must ReStart the PSP. Then go into ms:PSP/Game and creat the folders CAT_xxxxx (Mem Stick Name or Catigory). Also do the same for ms:/ISO .

“I hate my PSP l8ly…. only 1 mem stick works, all other mem cards wont boot my psp up! i dont understand why ”
I had this same problem and wondered why the other cards wouldn’t boot up with a pandora.
The answer is properly setting up the Magic mms stick.
You need to first prepare a magic stick by formatting it, not only that you must add ipl support.
Use the (UPMS installer 4 sapphire), run its option install fatms371.prx (ipl enabler) -
So you use Rain’s mms maker- because after this the mms will be able to take IPL injection
Once you have prepared it for ipl injection the rain’s mms maker should finish the rest and the card will work with the pandora.
October 16, 2009 at 2:43 pm
I might have forgotten the sequence, but if the above doesn’t work:
Press X at the UPMS installer 4 menu to proceed to more options,
choose Format & repartition memory stick, once done go back and install fatms371.prx.
Then try running Rain’s MMS maker.

October 16, 2009 at 9:54 pm
make a folder in both the ISO and GAME folders called CAT_Games, and dump all your uncatagorized stuff in there
October 16, 2009 at 3:50 pm
I’m really surprised the official firmware doesn’t have this type of function. I thought they would add it in an update long ago.

I have 1 PSX Game and loads of ISO’s, when I click on my MS, It show “Uncatagorised” but no homebrew, psx, apps etc
How do I get this to work?
October 18, 2009 at 10:52 pm
For apps and PSX games (I dunno about ISOs yet), you gotta put their folders in folders called CAT_Your category here. Example, I put all my emulators in CAT_Emulators and all my PSX games in CAT_PSX Games.
October 18, 2009 at 5:36 pm
yeah its cool but can you switch between modes of menu like vincentwilliamphilips can because then i would be impressed because vcm’s game catagorizer does work on gen
October 18, 2009 at 10:50 pm
I only have one problem with this – after installing it and categorizing my files, the names for the files don’t show up. Like, for example, PSPident and PSPdisp are together and have no icon to identify one from the other, so I rely on reading their names to the right of their grey icons to determine which is which. Upon installing this plugin, I could no longer see those names, which bothered me to the point that I (unfortunately) had to uninstall the plugin.
Oh, and how do you categorize your ISOs as well?

No, it will not ruin your memory card, just be sure all your data is backed-up before proceeding.

@ Doritoes, one last thing before i fo ahead with it, I’m on 5.00m33-6 and the ipl support/enabler (UPMS installer 4 sapphire) mentions you need 5.00 m33-4 ONLY or somthing like that. Can you confirm its ok to use with M33-6..same goes for the Rain’s mms maker. thnks in advance.
October 22, 2009 at 4:49 am
One of the best plugins ever made:) this is what im looking for long time ago, because its hard scrolling items way way down when you have many applications and games installed.

Yes it’s fine, use the ipl from upms first- this is only for the card to be compatible with the pandora battery- it does not alter the firmware.
Once the procedure is done you should be able to inject ipl and setup the essential files from RAINS MMS. If rains mss refuses to inject the ipl then you need to use the repartition feature from the UPMS installer 4 and then attempt adding ipl support again.
Note:The Rainsmms just sets up all the essential files for the pandora to communicate with the m33 stick.

Rain’s mms maker is for windows, it’s not psp.

@ Doritoes, I decided to go the easy route, and use Rain’s IPL & Memory Stick Tool 2.0 (IPL Injector, Extractor)
Link > http://pspslimhacks.com/rains-ipl-memory-stick-tool-20/
Your method would have taken long! thanks for the advice anyway. ( all i did was click inject ipl..and thats it job done!)
October 25, 2009 at 8:02 pm
@PSP-2010
Oh hey! Thanks for telling me about this, I only used the other method because I’ve never encountered that tool before.
