Author Topic: How to: Apply a Screen Protector!  (Read 4347 times)

Well, here's the story. I got a screen protector to keep those pesky scratches away
from my PSP. I tried applying it and got a whole mess of fingerprints on the protector.
The second one had the same problem. I got so mad, I threw my PSP at the floor. Sad
The next time I got a screen protector, I tried really hard to do it. I got it on my first
try. I threw my other protector into the trash right away. I found two little bitty hairs
under the protector. I was getting seriously mad and tried to remove them. It didn't
work and ended up making my protector even more messy. So basically, I went through
about $13 on stupid protectors. I also wasted a lot of time walking WAY up to Wal-Mart.
I found this guide that will probably help me with my next protector. Well, without any
more further ado, I bring to you, 'How to apply a screen protector onto your PSP.'
Taken from: http://www.psp411.com/show/guide/22/0/How_to_apply_a_screen_protector.html

Your PSP is a big investment and one of the most easily damaged parts of it is the screen.
It is understandable therefore that you want to protect it.

Many different companies have made screen protectors, thin sheets of lightly adhesive
plastic that protect the screen. They vary greatly in quality, both in strength of the plastic
and the amount they distort the image. I would personally advise to buy one from a recognised
brand like Hori or Martin Fields.

Make sure you have plenty of time to fit the screen protector so that you are not rushed.

-----------------------------

1: (Optional) Have a hot shower. This fills the room with steam. When the steam has subsided,
there will be less dust than usual. This is the best time to apply the screen protecter.

2: Clean the screen and the area around the screen with a microfibre cloth, removing grease and
dust. When it is clean, lay the microfibre cloth on the screen to try and keep dust off.

The next three steps need to be completed as quickly as possible to aviod dust:

3: Quickly peel the screen protector off the backing plastic it comes with.

4: Remove the microfibre cloth giving the screen a quick wipe

5: Apply the screen protector

6: Use a credit card to squeeze out the air bubbles under the screen protector.

If you have dust or fingerprints under your screen protector, use sticky tape to lift them off the
screen protector.

Hehe. Me, too. I'm still trying actually. I just used
up my second pack. Wink

I just did it and it worked perfectly. The screen
protector is slightly to the right and just a little
bit too low, but it works great. Smiley

Are there any protectors available for the SLIM that overlap past the actual screen (so that dust can't get into the cracks)?

Yeah most do go a little over but it sometimes makes air lines.
I cant count how many I wasted And i Finally  got one to work at least 89% good. And it was the only Hori one i got.
So Quality DOES matter.
so far walmartt = poop
Hori = alot better poop
oh well though practicee makes perfect right?

I recently bought the Hori plus protector that came with stickers to go around the buttons on each side of the screen as well as the screen protector. I read this was the only Hori product that fit the slim's screen properly. Well, I applied it pretty well but there are still air pockets around the left side and bottom edge of the screen. They don't really show when the screen is on so I think I'm going to leave it as is. It looks like the screen is at an angle or something, I'm not sure why else it would leave those little pockets of air right around the edge like that. Pretty irritating, I spent $10 on this but if it's the screen's fault then I don't know if Hori is to blame.

I also bought a screen protecter on boxing day and had the same problem ( intec starter package) when i first bought it. So many bubbles and it got screwed up that i started screaming at myself. I went back 1 week after boxing day ( bestbuy wouldnt let me return it during that week for some reason) and they actually took it back. he he he. I got the 20 back and bought a scuba gear set that has a small plastic thing that connects from the leather and protects the psp's screen. I like that better than the screen protecter. Never looked at it since then.

I got that protector too. I had a lot of issues with protectors see my new post about that http://pspslimhacks.com/psp-slim-screen-protectors/
Same deal, air pockets around the edges.

Finally I got the invisableshield, U.S made from zagg. that did the job. Its meant to be very tuff too.
