Sort of outdated - one of my first posts
In this tutorial, the very basic functions of your psp will be clearly explained.
***This is aimed at complete noobs (complete) .***

Tutorial
OK, first of all, you're gonna need a psp, a memory stick,
and a psp or digital camera usb cable.

1. Start up your psp, and connect it to your computer using your usb cable.

2. On your psp, go to Settings, and go to USB Connection.

3. On your computer, go to My Computer, and find your psp memory
stick. It will probably say "Removable Disk". Go into it

4. It should be empty unless you've done anything too it.

5. Let's change that. Make a new folder and call it "PSP" and then make
another new folder called "MP_ROOT". (without quotes   ) Don't
worry about the MP_ROOT folder for now.

6. Now go into the folder called PSP.

7. Make 3 folders named: "PHOTO", "GAME", and "MUSIC"

-In the PHOTO folder, put your photos (JPEG, BMP, GIF, PNG, and TIFF)
-In the GAME folder, put Sony game demo folders (ex:ULED90008 or
(UCUS12345) and homebrew games, emulators, etc.
-In the MUSIC, put music (get the idea lol) MP3, WAV, WMA, etc.

8. Press circle on your psp and disconnect it from your pc.

9. You can access any files you put on it through the corresponding menu
(ex: find music in the music section of psp, duh)and then going to "memory stick" and selecting your file.

10. Honestly, I hoped this helped SOMEONE out there because I did have
fun writing this up. I will be making a Flash, Videos, and Internet tutorial
soon.  Smiley

It can be quite daunting when your opening up your psp memory stick for the first time, lots of folders!

Solid:
Much appreciated m8 from a total n00b point of view.  Just picked up a 2nd hand PSP fat   last week which was already upgraded to 3.71M33. I have no manual and no experience of psp before.  I dont mind holding my hands up and saying i'm a noob on a steep learning curve and articles like this are great for me.

I'm doing a lot of reading and i think i'll have a go at the 3.71M33-2 firmware update and NAND dump it first.

cheers...

You should make a rice and beans tute for CFWs, pandora batteries and the like. I've watched dozens of youtube videos on that tonight but it didn't help much...
It would be nice to understand what I'd be doing lol.

Nice TuT, but all you have to do is go to "Format Memory Stick" in setting on your psp, running 3.71m33-3 and it adds all the folders for you.
