First Patapon 2 Save Game Exploit homebrew via Half Byte Loader Beta

The homebrew loader project has released a public beta which will allows 6.20 fw save data exploit users to load some homebrew games. When we say homebrew its just the basic low level homebrew games to start with. So no emulators, no advanced graphic games just yet. That is hopefully coming soon. But its all just early stages you have to remember, these things take time.

How to install the Half Byte Loader

Extract the Half Byte Loader beta archive to your memory stick root and then copy the homebrew game EBOOT.PBP to the root memory root also. And just like before start up your Patapon 2 USA demo and load up the hacked save game. It will then either load your homebrew if it works or crash. An working homebrew sample is included.

So if your feeling the need to see progress first hand. Whip out that PSP Go or PSP running 5.50+ official firmware of yours and try boot up some basic homebrew games. There is one included in the below download. Or try our large homebrew selection: PSP homebrew games & PSP homebrew applications.

This game for example works: psp-simpleturn (Remember its super basic!) Place the EBOOT.BIN in the memory root.

Guys, Guys, Guys!!!! Nester J version 1.12 works with this halfbyte Loader <<<<<<<< Somebody else got the idea to test it (Telwen) , and so did I. (me) psp 3004 OFW 5.50.

Trying a few SNES emulators now. So far, not looking good. The Euphoria SNES emulator has a " Error loading/mediaengine" message in the error file after I tried loading it. Update: Finished as many tests as I could, none work for me. Neither does any PSX emulators, but honestly, i'm not even remotely surprised on that one. A pity too. Still, NES/GB/Genesis is a pretty good start, no?

I highly doubt this. You’ll never get a unbricker to work with this eloader.

gosh i cant get homebrew to work >.< i only i have hello world and the only change i did in the half byte loader was to rename h.bin to ha. bin i just put an a because i already had an h bin from the patapon save file i think why doesnt it loads homebrew?Is there anything wrong or because its the beta?

I’ve recently tried the Patapon demo save game exploit on my PSP 3001 5.50 and when i start Patapon it says “System data not found. Unable to proceed with auto-save feature” it seems my PSP is not detecting the save game exploit.

SORRY!!I almost forgot:DI have psp 3000 with OFW 6.20 and HBL is not gonna work from the first try,especially Daedalus and the GBA emulator.Sometimes you need to try it for a half hour,but if you have good games for the emulator…..You’ll not even remember that you spend so much time on this

@shivamthedarklord Are you sure you are doing everything right?Did you put the emulators in PSP/GAME?Did you put the hbl folder in the MS ROOT and h.bin in the MS ROOT too?The menu is absolutely ok,you must choose from there an emulator/homebrew game….Keep tryng!I told you,its not gonna work from the first time.-sorry again for my bad english-

hey ive done everything bro ive deleted 5xx libs folder and renamed 6xx libs to libs bcoz im on 6.20 and in config imports also ive made the change still evertime it crashes trying from yesterday yrr!!!

@ shivamthedarklord You musnt rename 6xx libs to libs and you do not need to delete 5xx libs folder.Now HBL can find you’re firmware by itself.NOTE:The emulator folder’s name may not contain spaces!!It must be like N64EMULATOR or GBAEMULATOR or MEGADRIVE0.22 or whatever you wanna call it.Also,be sure that you use the emulators mentioned by me.For example,DaedalusX64 its not gonna work.Try again the source without to change it(I recomand you to try with MEGADRIVE0.22,since it works perfect almost everytime)

@ shivamthedarklord Err….Im not sure.I heard it works,but INFO_NES is WAY more stable than that;)I just listed some emulators in my other coment,plase verify it to know what emulators do work and what do not.And no,if you delete all the games and keep only patapon and the emulator is not gonna reduce the crashes……I’m glad I helped!:]

wowwwwww hacktester its brought me to some cmd like thing it says BUILDING NIDS TABLE SUMTHING AND LOADING…NW IT says unable to open game folder (syscall issue) using a cached version of the folder’s contents wat is dis nw??????????plz help me im almost dere!!!

@shivamthedarklord Sometimes the menu does work,sometimes it crashes at scleidoclos or something like that.Anyway,it worked?:DThis is what i want to hear.And i dont think that go users can load very easly the menu of HBL,since it’s a matter of luck whitch won’t change by the model/firmware.

@shivamthedarklord Yeah,gpSP-Kai is working on r66 psp 3000 6.20,tested by me with pokemon firered,sonic advance 3 and lots of other games.And yeah there should be olny one bin file in the root of the memory stick(h.bin).And please stop using CAPS.

when i copy the gpsp kai to the game folder do i just leave it as a folder or do i go in to the gpsp kai folder and take out the eboot. i can’t get it to work
