    Weltall is back with a quick CWCheat update (Its been a while!) This version has been rebuilt with toolchain and updated to included the latest cheat database. So you’ll find cheats for most of the new games present. It also has a new (beta) refresh functionality he wrote over a year ago! That’s now included too in this release.

    Don’t know what CWCheat is? Well its a universal cheat system / plug-in that can apply certain cheats to almost every PSP game out there. Similar to GameShark codes etc. It also has many other extra features too.

    This is just awesome, Zer01ne’s has released Sedna for 5.03 GEN-A/B. What this wicked plug-in does is keep ChickHEN and 5.03 GEN-A or B active. Even if you reboot your PSP-3000. So that whole gamble of trying to get chickHEN R2 to run is over!! You PSP-3000 and TA-088v3 owners are going to love this. And it install just like any other plug-in simple and straight forward.

    Custom Firmware 5.03 GEN-B has been released. This custom firmware update for PSP-3000 / PSP-2000 TA-088v3 owners now lets users play original firmware 5.55+ games with out the need of Game Decrypter. So no more eboot patching and rebuilding ISO’s with UMDGen. Your now level with 5.50 GEN-D2 users, same options more or less.

    Custom Firmware 5.03 GEN-B Release notes:

    Background of core functions:

    * Compatible with PSP-3000 and PSP-2000 v3 official firmware 5.03
    * Play backups of games REQUIRE PSP firmware above 5.03, including 6.xx
    * Reading UMD REQUIRE firmware above 5.03, including 6.xx
    * Reading UMD / ISO games protected against the custom firmware.
    * Play of PS1 games
    * GEN available VSH MENU (SELECT)
    * Recovery in VSH available
    * Reading Homebrews

    It is time to get down to that angry because we have failed to resolve.

    Known Bugs:

    * MGS demo refuses to run
    We’ve tried everything and what works in 5.50GEN-D2 has not worked in the 5.03GEN-B. Pity …

    * The Recovery mode menu is “mixed”
    The RECOVERY MODE 5.02GEN-A has been patched to run on the PSP-3000. It can change the most usual options but we encounter some problems with this VSH Recovery in and we have not managed to fix it. In fact, the menu sees some of his lines not properly allocated and others who do not work. Note that on a PSP-3000, the recovery is useless, or nearly so, since all the useful features found in the VSH menu or in Ultimate VSH menu Total_Noob of Total_Noob we strongly recommend that you install.

    Remember in order to update to 5.03 GEN-B you need to have 5.03 GEN-A already up and running. Sounds simple enough, but in case your not already on 5.03 GEN-A here are some tips to get on the road to CFW 5.03 GEN-A/B :

    1. Ok first up you’ll need a PSP-3000 or PSP-2000 with a TA-088v3 *duh…
    2. Now make sure your running Firmware 5.03 or less (On FW 5.03+ Sorry this isn’t for ya. ChickHEN only works on 5.03!)
    3. Install chickHEN R2 and get it running. This will help: Guide to running ChickHEN R2
    4. Once in the Homebrew Enabled Environment aka HEN, run 5.03 GEN-A then the GEN-B update. Simple!

    Still need help? Try Skyline969’s All-in-one 5.03 GEN-A installer. Its got all the files, Official Firmware 5.03, ChickHEN R2 and 5.03 GEN-A to get you on Custom Firmware 5.03 GEN-A. Couldn’t be easier!

    We hope you had a good Halloween night. Anyway Bubbletune has released Game Categories v9, this awesome little plug-in has a new feature. As demonstrated in the video above it now features a Content Browser mode which displays the eboots and ISO’s as logo’s. Its taken from the PSP photo browser mode. If you don’t already have this plug-in it comes highly recommended for any PSP running Custom Firmware.

    PSPGen have just recently posted that the release of Custom Firmware 5.03 GEN-B for ChickHEN has been delayed. The reason behind this was they found a recovery bug that prevented certain games from playing. One of which was the Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker demo. Instead of releasing it today and later needing to release 5.03 GEN-B2. Team GEN have decided it would be best to wait, fix it and have it ready for release tomorrow.

    This is not a problem with the CFW but a recovery bug. If you remember,  the recovery of 5.03GEN-A already had a problem: all option lines were shuffled. The correction of this problem comes with another bug in some options like the “use version.txt” which doesn’t work anymore and prevents the launch of the MGS.

    5.03 GEN-B is now set for release tomorrow night (French time that is) We’ll keep you posted and have it up for download the moment its released.

    MaGiXien has give word on a 5.03 GEN-B demo video he made (embedded above), which shows 5.03 GEN-B in action. The video demonstrates a ChickHEN R2 enabled PSP, running 5.03 GEN-B running various firmware 5.55+ games without any issues. The same feature that 5.50 GEN-D has. No more patching games for PSP-3000 owners once its released. And just a few more days to wait now as its due October 31st.

    PSP homebrew developer Spike132000 has released PSP installer v1.0. This cool application lets you install homebrew games, applications, get save games and themes all from your PSP (With a Wifi connection of course!) The program is out of beta and is now self updating too.

    PSP Installer 1.0 Changelog:

    • Added: Categories, now everything is split into 4 categories, Games, Applications, Theme’s and Savegames
    • Fixed: If you choose a blank option on the browse page, it will initiate your wlan but then tell you it’s unable to download a blank application
    • Unfixable: Deletion of Zip file’s. There’s a bug in PGELua that prevents zip files to be closed, so since there still classed as open and in use, they can’t be deleted.
    • Fixed: When updating database, current database version text changed to latest database version text when it should have stayed at current database version text… it’s hard to explain.. anyway it’s fixed
    • The change source option on the front screen has now been changed to “Download Latest Version.” This means that you can now download the latest version of PSPInstaller from within the application itself.

    Retrobits has repacked the vertical shoot-em-up Noiz2sa to work on PSP’s running firmware 5.xx. This game was previously complied using the 1.5 kernel so newer firmwares couldn’t run this. (Unless you had a PSP fat with the 1.50 add-on)

    This unique shoot-em-up has various different levels of difficulty, each with their own unique style. The game is pretty fast paced and full on, as you can see from the quick video I recorded. Not too mention some levels are insanely hard.

    Finally got Noiz2sa running 100% on my 5.00 M33 slim. I didn’t really change anything, other than repacking the EBOOT with PBP Unpacker and including a NOIZ2SA.PRF from an old 1.5 kernel memory stick I had. If the PRF file is not present, the game will freeze after about a minute.
