We told ya not to update to 6.20 and for a good reason, as FreePlay has discovered that Sony did indeed discover and block the Save Game Exploit found in Firmware 6.10. That very same one that was demonstrated on the PSP Go running “Hello World”. So lets hope maybe we will see a release since its blocked?? And of course games that require Firmware 6.20 will not play on Custom Firmware enabled machines. Even 5.50 GEN-D2. Were coming to have to wait for either a new Game Decrypter that decrypt Firmware 6.20 or a new CFW.

So how did Sony know this? I personally think its likely someone informed them. Its not like its something easy to find. Who i wonder? Someone in the know thats for sure. Now the game required for this save game exploit has no doubt been removed or now requires FW 6.20……

One of our favourite plugs-ins, Game Categories got a update today. Game Categories V10 adds a update feature to the plug-in under Network Update. You now have an Update Game Categories option. Plus there are a few much needed bug fixes for the Content Browser mode. Hiding uncategorized is now working and the incompatibly with some other plug-ins is now fixed. The full changelog is below:

God Eater Demo Released. Requires Firmware 6.20.

Namco-Bandai have released a demo for God Eater, their new up and coming action-RPG which is due February 2010. This demo is in Japanese and if you were silly enough to update to 6.20 and have nothing to play, then your in luck. As in order to play this demo you will need to have firmware 6.20 installed on your PSP system.

The game it self looks interesting. I find it quite funny, the fact that some of the playable characters carry weapons larger than themselves!! Haha I don’t know why the Japanese love that sort of stuff….Gun-swords weighting 1000 pounds, two times larger than their whole body…oh well its still a decent looking game anyway.

PSP Firmware 6.20 Released.

PSP Firmware 6.20 is live, now available over the network update and also downloadable below. We now have a new comic reader built into the firmware and a new TV bar in the XMB.

Here’s the changelog, taken from the Playstation Blog:

Digital Comics Reader – PlayStation Network Digital Comics is a new service launching in December. It will allow you to download hundreds of classic and new comics from the PlayStation Store and read them page by page or frame by frame on your PSP system. Firmware update (v6.20) includes the Digital Comics reader application, which you’ll find under a new section called “Extras” on the XMB. Please note, the comic reader is an additional download; once you’ve loaded (v6.20) onto your system, simply click on the comic reader icon under “Extras” to download it to your PSP. In addition, you’ll be able to try out a free digital comic sample from the service soon. Visit www.playstationcomics.com for more information.

Export video/photo playlists – This is a new feature that allows you to export your video and photo playlists from your PC to your PSP system through Media Go. Download the latest version of Media Go (v1.3) for this and a few additional enhancements.

I’m going to check it out on my PSP-2000 TA-85 and then Pandora myself back to 5.50 GEN-D2. However I won’t be doing this on my PSP Go or if you have a PSP-3000 / TA-088v3. We don’t know if they have patched the FreePlay Save game Exploit or Team Typhoons HEN (If ever released!)

So hold off on updating for now, unless you can just flash back to CFW goodness later.

Ok so apparently, PSP Firmware 6.20 is on the way. Tomorrow infact. It will include a new comic book reader that will go with the launch of new comic book service available over PSN. So where is this info coming from? From the horse’s mouth at the Tokyo game show, claims this blog

The new comics over PSN will support all PSP’s and firmware 6.20 will add a new column to the PSP XMB for this. This new feature is coming to Japan first, with North America and Europe to follow at a later stage. (not confirmed yet)

So how much?? The digital comics will carry a standard price tage of ¥420 or $5 USD each. If you prefer only reading the chapters they will cost ¥50-¥150 each. Which is around $1-2 USD.

I wonder if Sony also patched the user save game exploit that FreePlay used on his PSP Go “Hello World” hack

Sony detailed its PSP comic service back at the Tokyo Game Show. Today, it provided specific release and pricing information.

Downloadable comics will join the PlayStation Store library on December 10 under a new “Comics” category. Content will be available at around ¥420 for a full book and between ¥50 and ¥150 for individual chapters. Unlike other PS Store content, the comics are purchased rather than rented.

All varieties of the PSP, from the original PSP-1000 to the just released PSPgo, will be able to access the content.

Users will need to have their firmware updated to System 6.20 (available on November 19). This firmware update will add a new “Extra” column to the PSP’s XMB (Cross Media Bar) interface. You’ll be able to click on an icon under this column to download the required Comic Reader.

Content is being provided by such publishers as Ascii Mediaworks, Enterbrain, Kadokawa Shoten, Kodansha, Shueisha, Shogakkan, Square Enix (yes, they publish comics too), Softbank Creative, Bandai Visual, Bunkasha, Futabasha, Fujimi Shobo, and Hakusensha.

PSP Developer roe-ur-boat has released an update to Autostart PRX. Like the plug-in name suggests Autostart PRX lets users select any homebrew eboot, PSX game or ISO/CSO to boot on start up by selecting the corresponding configured button.

The plug-in now supports GEN Custom Firmware and Bubbletunes Game Categories CAT_ folders.

Changelog:

It now supports the GEN firmwares and I’ve added support for Bubbletune’s Game Categories plugin so you can browse the CAT_* folders too. There’s also a small bugfix for the small number of you that have games with no name.

MacroFire v3.0.10 Released.

Quick bugfix update from Pen, version 3.0.11 is out, this fixes a problem/bug found in Monster Hunter 2.

Pen @ Class G has released MacroFire v3.0.10. His prx plug-in gives you the ability to tweak your PSP control’s, remap buttons and enable quick/rapid fire buttons. Plus You can even record macros, good for those Street Fighter, Tekken and Soul Caliber combos.

MacroFire v3.0.10 changelog:

• Added the function “Auto-Hold”, with which we can block a certain key combo to use it solely.
• Keys X / O will be set automatically according to configuration in the registry.

GoTube, PSPTube reborn..

Its been a while since there have been any updates both to PSPTube or Ultimate PSPTube, well Biscottealacrevette has released GoTube which is a clone of PSPTune but with some new features. And hey were glad his has taken it up as, well PSPTube is pretty much dead. GoTube plays videos from all the popular sites like YouTube, Google Video, MegaVideo and DailyMotion.

GoTube has a cool feature that lets you add and remove sites via the Internet radio tab in your XMB.

Installation is easy, just make sure you place the GoTube.prs in the RADIOPLAYER folder of your memory stick and then place the GoTube folder in GAME. At first I couldn’t get this to work, but this was due to BubbleTunes Game Categories plug-in. You need to place the GoTube folder outside of any CAT_ folders (Uncatergorized)

One you have placed the folders, go to Internet Radio in your XMB and GoTube update, click the arrow logo to add the video site you want. It should download a 2kb file. Exit and then run GoTube, use Select to find YouTube for example and then hit O and enter a search term for YouTube, wait a few seconds and videos will appear for that search.

Looks like Team Typhoon has found a way to run HEN (Homebrew enabler) on the PSP Go, Neon’s video above seems pretty leigit to me, how you could fake that I do not kow. He demonstrates  6.10 Typhoon CFW / HEN and running a homebrew emulator pico drive. And apparently this hack is at the Kernel level. Now as amazing as this all is Neon says its never going to be released…Never! I guess for fear that someone will work it to load ISO and then CFW? Still I wouldn’t mind fulling my PSP Go’s 16GB with a few decent emulators and games.

Also whats got thinking is this exploit part of FreePlay’s Save game exploit or something entirely different?

DaedalusX64 Alpha Revision 443

The DaedalusX64 Team are back once more with another update to their N64 Emulator, DaedalusX64. Which I’m sure you’ve heard of, unless you were sleeping under a rock or something…Alpha Revision 443, brings us more bug fixes and tweak as noted in the changelog below.
