Evangelion: Jo - The first anti Custom Firmware game?

PSPGen have posted that a new Japanese game, called Evangelion: Jo scans your RAM and detects if you have any type of custom firmware or not. If it detects you have custom firmware. The game will freeze displaying the screen above with some lovely classical musicplayed in the background. It also doesn’t seem that you could bypass this check, since its scanning the RAM….

So Sony have taken things a step further with Anti Custom Firmware games.

    Out of all the psp games I downloaded, I found only the ported games to be fun. Why? Cause they are classics! I will post again if I ever come across one interesting PSP game.

    Who cares how secure you make the new ones?!

    Go back to focusing on ps1/ps2 games if you want to truly succeed.

        The developers take years to make the game, Sony licenses the game, developers pay Sony to publish the game. You download the game, Sony loses publishing money, Developers waste their time making it.

    Well with ChickenHEN…..just cut the psp off and its gone along with the custom firmware which is in the flash0 so is this really a big problem for ChickenHen-ners

      its a developer from japan…
      but other production houses might adopt this….

        If you guys remember, there’s a Japanese game – Idol Master SP,
        similar things happen.

        And it’s the same publisher.

        So we can expect the same senario from Soul Calibur and Tekken 6.

    lol, we exploit sony and now they exploit us, but i know that alot of people with cfw still buy good games and that they wont put this into major titles comming out this year like assassins creed, grand tourismo, metal gear solid, soul calibur and all the other good titles this year, i dont think sony would risk losing half the psp community

    This sucks for us, but its finally good to see sony isnt the dumbasses that people take them for. But this realy sucks if no workaround wil be found. Cant you make an app that starts the game in its own part of the ram and blocks it off from the rest of the ram, albiet plugins would probably not work with the game, but we would still be able to play it.

    Did you know Sony love cfw too! infact in future psp updates most cfw features will be avalaible on ofw, basicaly cfw is just fast forwarding the prosses.

    The answer here is not the develop of new cfw undetectable to the scan.
    But a tool to block or remove the scan process from those games.

    It’s not like this will increase sales. No one’s going to say “uh oh, I’d better reinstall OFW so I can play this game.” There are, however, people running CFW who actually buy games once in a while…

    I tried running chickHEN once but it kept on crashing, so i had to hard mod mine, it was the easiest option without getting stressed out.

    see this would be totally fine for games you download… but if they put it in umds thats total bullshit because if you have a umd of the game then you did pay for it and they should be happy with that regardless of your firmware

    I am sadder about the possible implementation of anti-CFW technology in future software. Michael was big in the 80s, I grew up on him and it is sad when anyone dies… but that is all… the PSP is still alive and that is what matters right now!

If I were you, dont pray for those games that are to be released to have this anti-cfw because u will not be able to play the new games if ever ur psp will be hacked. I know for sure the ofw 5.51 will be hacked soon, just wait for ur turn guys just like what the other psp owners did when the 5.03 m33 are not yet released. REmember wait for ur turn and DO NOT UPDATE TO NEWER OFW VERSIONS.

    if it only reads in the ram does that mean that if we have full cfw in the psp than it will work…….someone need to crack sony’s signature…..if thats done they are gonners. hopefully its possible to decrypt the files used to make this RAM-test and if possible remove it from the game…..not that i am saying i support piracy, just that i will become a pirate if this happens cause i have a psp with cfw and i buy games so i should be able to play them regardless of what type of firmware i have…….how come nintendo never works so hard to keep their ds unhackable and on the other hand sony reacts to every change we do…….

    No matter how many anti-CFW games come out in the future I would rather keep my PSP on CFW. There are more than 600+ games out there (not including games playable on emulators) that I can potentially play with CFW, why upgrade to play a few protected games…

    There is no need to upgrade, just use devhook to emulate a higher firmware like 5.51. Of course it will need to be updated someday.
