Easy ChickHEN CFW installer (Without Pandora)

Since is out PSP-2000 owners with a TA88v2 or less or a TA90v1 motherboard now have the option to now install Custom Firmware without the need of a Pandora battery.We have put together a Easy installer that contains everything you’ll need. Hellcats Recovery flasher, , PSP firmware update 5.00.

Warning make sure you only try this on a PSP that will accept PSP Custom Firmware flashing (Custom IPL) otherwise you will brick your PSP!!! PSP-3000′s will not take CFW. Check your PSP will take CFW here. Or run ChickHEN first, then when ChickHEN is loaded run PSPident from the Game XMB menu. (PSPIdent with install with this easy installer)

Steps to install CFW on a PSP Slim without a Pandora battery.

1. Check and triple check you have a hackable PSP that will accept
custom firmware flashing without resulting in a BRICKED PSP. Make sure you have a PSP with a TA88v2 or below only + or TAv90v1. If your PSP has a TA88v3 or above or is a PSP-3000 DO NOT proceed!!! You will brick your PSP.

Run the installer and point it to your Memory stick Pro Duo root.

2. If you don’t have don’t have PSP firmware 5.03. Get that here: PSP Firmware 5.03 Make a folder called UPDATE in your PSP/GAME folder and place the eboot in there on your memory stick pro duo.

3. Now lets run ChickHEN to have a homebrew enabled environment. In your PSP go to photo then click the ChickHEN photo and wait. If the PSP jams, please retry. If it flashes colours and reboots you have loaded ChicKHEN. Check your system info to be sure it say’s 5.03 ChickHEN R2. If you need help getting ChickHEN to run please visit this post.

4. Now with your PSP rebooted in ChickHEN go to your PSP XMB game menu and run Hellcats Recovery and install 5.00 M33!!! Your PSP will reboot, follow the instuctions to install PSP Custom Firmware 5.00 M33. After your done you can update to 5.00 M33-6

    i made a UPDATE in my psp/game folder and put firmware 5.03 in my update folder but it keeps saying the game cannot be started the data is corrupted

    Hi, Can anyone please help me???? I’ve installed chickhen and it worked great! But now i accidently deleted some files from the root psp/games and know my games won’t play anymore. can anyone tell me wich folder shoot be in the root psp games (i think i deleted some folder called gameXXX????)

    Ok. I’ve done the procedure of loading CHICKHen on the PSP 3000 on various occasions. But there is something particular when I manage to load CHICKHen on a PSP 1000. Each time I want to load an application, the psp screen comes up and freezes, finalizing by shutdown. I don’t know what is going on since CHICKHen is supposed to work on all three models. I’ve tried formatting the disk, restoring default settings and other precautions. Does anyone have any suggestions.

    my psp slim is PHA with firmware 3.90 and TA-088 v1/v2 motherboard.
    I followed every instructions above. I placed EBOOT.PBP in the UPDATE folder which I created in PSP\GAME in my memory stick. And when I select PSP Update ver 5.03 there’s always an error message “The game could not be started. (80020148)”. why is that??

    Hi all, I updated my PSP 2000 with chickHEN and then updated to 5.00 M33-6. It was successful update but, after that, I am unable to play all my games, the error shown is ‘The Game Could Not Be Started (80020321)’. Anyone could advise?

    I have a Japanese PSP-2000 slim. Would this work for that? It just keeps freezing and turning off… Am I doing something wrong? or is it because its japanese. Ive tried it almost 20 times already.

    The box had a letter “F” In the bar codes sticker and stuff, so Im assuming it has the right type of mother board. And also, Im possitive that when I bought it, it came with OFW 3.95 right outta the box.

    i follow this video and install, now my system software is saying “5.00 M33-4″
    but when i try putting a game in the “ISO” folder, i can’t play it,
    it show up on my psp, but when press “X” , it load, but shut down with a message “The game could not be started (80020321)”
    are mine missing something…please help

    Well, for those who followed the steps in article above to upgrade their psp only to found out that their cso/iso game could no longer run/start (error 80020321), please be informed that by default the setting for the psp after the upgrade is set to “UMD Mode: play with UMD disc”. Therefore you have to change the mode manually. This can be done by going into the Recovery mode (Hold the R button while turning on the device) Then, go into configuration (use X button), then to the UMD Mode option and change it tp . Next is simply going back and axit the recovery mode and Voila~ You’re good to go! (for most ppl ^^)
