Easy ChickHEN CFW installer (Without Pandora)

Since is out PSP-2000 owners with a TA88v2 or less or a TA90v1 motherboard now have the option to now install Custom Firmware without the need of a Pandora battery.We have put together a Easy installer that contains everything you’ll need. Hellcats Recovery flasher, , PSP firmware update 5.00.

Warning make sure you only try this on a PSP that will accept PSP Custom Firmware flashing (Custom IPL) otherwise you will brick your PSP!!! PSP-3000′s will not take CFW. Check your PSP will take CFW here. Or run ChickHEN first, then when ChickHEN is loaded run PSPident from the Game XMB menu. (PSPIdent with install with this easy installer)

Steps to install CFW on a PSP Slim without a Pandora battery.

1. Check and triple check you have a hackable PSP that will accept
custom firmware flashing without resulting in a BRICKED PSP. Make sure you have a PSP with a TA88v2 or below only + or TAv90v1. If your PSP has a TA88v3 or above or is a PSP-3000 DO NOT proceed!!! You will brick your PSP.

Run the installer and point it to your Memory stick Pro Duo root.

2. If you don’t have don’t have PSP firmware 5.03. Get that here: PSP Firmware 5.03 Make a folder called UPDATE in your PSP/GAME folder and place the eboot in there on your memory stick pro duo.

3. Now lets run ChickHEN to have a homebrew enabled environment. In your PSP go to photo then click the ChickHEN photo and wait. If the PSP jams, please retry. If it flashes colours and reboots you have loaded ChicKHEN. Check your system info to be sure it say’s 5.03 ChickHEN R2. If you need help getting ChickHEN to run please visit this post.

4. Now with your PSP rebooted in ChickHEN go to your PSP XMB game menu and run Hellcats Recovery and install 5.00 M33!!! Your PSP will reboot, follow the instuctions to install PSP Custom Firmware 5.00 M33. After your done you can update to 5.00 M33-6

    damn if only i found this earlier!! i followed a different tut that required a pandora battery and ended up hard modding my battery. the cutting the connection didnt work and that 1 wire hard mod just wouldnt work too. don’t know what went wrong but it was a PITA! I dont know if I managed to return my battery to normal. but thankfully my psp still boots with the battery. Hope nothing goes wrong in the future.

    then i found this and within less than half an hour i managed to install the cfw. i have a psp slim 2000.

    guys im stuck…..when it comes to flashes chickhen from the chickhen photo folder my psp doesnt flashes a color n reboot on itself….but it freeze and shutdown and i have to restart it again…
    * i have turn off umd autostart n cache.
    * i have reset my psp to default setting.
    * i thought of increase the number of .gif files could help i have 12 gif n 1 tiff
    *is my h.bin not working properly?
    * i format my mem card and again install chickhen through the installer.
    but still :(

    can u guys help with any idea on wat to do

    this is for those people who are stuck at the part were you need to flash chickhen…..i did n it work [i was stuck b4]
    format ur memory card….thru system setting on psp menu
    *connect ur psp to ur comp thru USB
    *run easy installer and point it to the drive where ur PSP is located.
    *reset to default setting
    *change UMD Auto start n Cache to OFF
    *try flashing chichken which is located on the photo menu
    *on ur 3 try it shld work.
    *Chickhen boots up….check with PSPident…..Yes TA-088v1 n v2 will work
    *run Hellcat…

    I can not get this to work. It locks up every time and I have tried it over 60 times now. Is there a way to resolve this issue? I installed the 5.03 firmware like it told me to do. I have a PSP 2000 Star Wars edition. Thanks

    When i downloaded the firmware 5.03, made a folder UPDATE, sended it to GAME, i cant open it it says corrupted data. i did everything else alright. how do i do it? help!!!

      dude the same thing happened to me. i had psp phat 1001 v5.01 and i tried it and all i got was corrupted data. on the comp file it shows a whole bunch of stuff though

        dude dont worry i found out the problem. go to the file on my computer and open it. a winrar screen should come up and it will have a file named “…” and underneath will be something that says EBOOT.PBP . only send the eboot to ur update file it will work fine then.

      you havent installed in your PSP you have a brick sorry…you have to use PSPident to see if your PSP is Hackable
      im sure if your PSP is Slim have the Motherboard TA-88v3 and if is a PSP 3000 have the TA-90v2 in other word that 2 motherboards cant be hacked and if you hack it you have a brick…dont say what im gonna do becouse in nothing that you can do now, only toss the PSP or wait other hackable method

    dude i did everything and when it said press any key to shutdown i pressed X and after that when start my psp
    only the power light goes on and nothing on the screen please help man even if had to play games on ofw

    -if i instal the chickhen on my psp, can i latter instal a psp Official Sony Firmware, or chickhen is permanet?

    -what’s the diference between chickhen and, for example, Custom M33 Firmware or _HellDashX_ Custom Firmware?

    -when is chickhen for 5.50 firmware or a downgrade will show up?

    hi..i stucked,but i saw the last comment so i did it everything again.i formated the memory stcik and i put the Chicken to my PSP and reset settings and after that i turned off the auto start and cache and i went to the PHOTO folder a leaved on the pictures and the PSP its turned off and i did this more than 3 times(to be sure)but nothing happend,the version is still 5.03 and i can not start the PSPident 0.4 it says the data is corrupted.so i dont know what can i do?if someone can help me…thanks a lot…

    awesomly working ! :) tested on PSP Phat 1003 ,no brick,just download the best ChickHen for phat psp version and run ,than follow the vid and whoala ! it´s in custom firmware :) thanks for this !

    ok, i have all of this stuff installed and it works fine…i have a SNES emulator and all those games work, but how do i get ISO’s to work? i have devhook, fastloader, and umdloader. i finnaly got the game to show up but when i click on it says “the game could not be started. (80020321) the game is dynasty warriors if that helps. i plan to download more once i can figure out how to make them work.

    Hey i did that and it worked but i ran the v1.0 cfw enabler and now when i turn it on i cant play games or run hellcat and psp ident some one help!

    Hi, I can’t thank U all enough for this.

    My PS is running with ur CFW now, but I can’t get in to the recovery mode. also when I try to update to the
    5.00 M33-6, its says error that my PSP is already running in the latest FW… It is because I place the 5.00 OFW
    not the 5.03 OFW in the UPDATE directory?

    Please can you point me to the right direction?

    i tried the photo thing SO many times, resetting SO many times, but finally it worked cause i did one thing different. instead of pressing ‘x’ to open the chickHEN photo folder, i pressed >. !!!11111111111!!

    hey i did this and my psp 300 bricked
    my motherboard was version 1 and not version 3
    only thing my battery was only 20%

    I ran the installed but did not notice the mobo checker.
    I have a 2001 model which i thought was a t88. I guess i didnt read enough.
    chickhen installed and then when i did the cfw install…after reboot i am bricked.
    How to unbrick??

    Resuming…… This procedure doens’t works to PSP 2001 – FW 5.50 right? Have somebody tried with this FW 5.50? I Tried a lot but not works, the original file has 5 images should I increase this number? make some CTRL+C CTRLS+V of this GIF images?

    Need help??? I just got a psp slim from a buddy of mine.. I didnt know it had a cfw 3.90 m33-2. I recently bought resistance retribution and it made me upgrade to play it to version 5.03. I dont know how to check my psp to see what model it is. I dled pspident and tried to run it on 5.03 and it says file corrupted. I came across your app and I dled it, but I seen that you can brick your psp if you use the wrong psp with this program. How do I find out what kind of psp I have without running pspident? Another question, when I try to load the file to my system with the installer I dont know which directory to put it in. When I load the psp to the usb oit brings me to a folder with 6 files. ” ISO – MP_Root – Music – Picture – PSP – Video” Which file do I put the chicken installer in? Do I put it in MP_Root or do I put in it PSP and make a new folder called root inside of it. The PSP folder contains the GAME folder inside. Please help me out, I really am a newbie and need some words of wisdom from a PRO…

    I basically need help being able to have a cfw to play games that I save to my stick..
