Easy ChickHEN CFW installer (Without Pandora)

Since is out PSP-2000 owners with a TA88v2 or less or a TA90v1 motherboard now have the option to now install Custom Firmware without the need of a Pandora battery.We have put together a Easy installer that contains everything you’ll need. Hellcats Recovery flasher, , PSP firmware update 5.00.

Warning make sure you only try this on a PSP that will accept PSP Custom Firmware flashing (Custom IPL) otherwise you will brick your PSP!!! PSP-3000′s will not take CFW. Check your PSP will take CFW here. Or run ChickHEN first, then when ChickHEN is loaded run PSPident from the Game XMB menu. (PSPIdent with install with this easy installer)

Steps to install CFW on a PSP Slim without a Pandora battery.

1. Check and triple check you have a hackable PSP that will accept
custom firmware flashing without resulting in a BRICKED PSP. Make sure you have a PSP with a TA88v2 or below only + or TAv90v1. If your PSP has a TA88v3 or above or is a PSP-3000 DO NOT proceed!!! You will brick your PSP.

Run the installer and point it to your Memory stick Pro Duo root.

2. If you don’t have don’t have PSP firmware 5.03. Get that here: PSP Firmware 5.03 Make a folder called UPDATE in your PSP/GAME folder and place the eboot in there on your memory stick pro duo.

3. Now lets run ChickHEN to have a homebrew enabled environment. In your PSP go to photo then click the ChickHEN photo and wait. If the PSP jams, please retry. If it flashes colours and reboots you have loaded ChicKHEN. Check your system info to be sure it say’s 5.03 ChickHEN R2. If you need help getting ChickHEN to run please visit this post.

4. Now with your PSP rebooted in ChickHEN go to your PSP XMB game menu and run Hellcats Recovery and install 5.00 M33!!! Your PSP will reboot, follow the instuctions to install PSP Custom Firmware 5.00 M33. After your done you can update to 5.00 M33-6

    what should i do i yanked the battery out when it said error in eboot.pp file so i yanked the battery out when i opened it, the Power LED will light for 21 sec. then nothing happens even the screen wont go on

      Try changing your UMD ISO mode.
      From the XMB, press ‘Select’, then change ‘UMD ISO Mode’ into ‘Sony NP9660′ or ‘M33 Driver’.
      If that doesn’t work, go into recovery menu by resetting your PSP, then holding down R. It’s in the ‘Configuration’ menu.

    I’m using PSP1003 and have the eggsploit image in my photo folder. This is the only image in there and there are no sub folders. Despite many attempts it just keeps freezing then power off either at the image or when I press x on the image – it goes to the screen trying to show the image (white page with small camera in middle). What is the image meant to look like? Is there anything else I should be doing?

    i have some questions about chickhen:

    -if i instal the chickhen on my psp, can i latter instal a psp Official Sony Firmware, or chickhen is permanet?

    -what’s the diference between chickhen and, for example, Custom M33 Firmware or _HellDashX_ Custom Firmware?

    -when is chickhen for 5.50 firmware or a downgrade will show up?

    When I try to install this on one of my PSP 1001, (I have the phat image thing) I get to the HC Recovery and the PSP freezes. Why is this, and how can I fix it?

    Tips for psp shut down after load tiff images:
    Before run chickHEN and load tiff image make sure you psp photo settings –> slideshow speed option “slow”, it works great load chickHEN tiff images on me.

    after installing cfw and upgrading can i delete the chickhen image form psp for safety i.e may be by mistake if click it and it cause any problem

    Once the custom firmware is installed do I need to keep ChickHEN on my PSP? Just asking since I have less then 3000kb left on my PSP and I want to install RemoteJoy so I can record gameplay.

      No the root of your memory stick is where the files: MP_ROOT, music, PICTURE, PSP, and video is located

      yea(i just replied u so i can come on top lol)what the heck every time i do that chickhen thing iz stops and the ms light goes on the orange one for a couple of secs then the wifi light goes on the green one not even foe a sec then it shuts off IVE BEEN DOING THIS FOR LIKE UMMM.CANT EVEN MEMBER

        i did exactly what it says in da beginning and shut off the u kno umd auto and umd cache and restore to default settings AND REMEMBER TO EMPTY UR PHOTOS IT HELP A LOT I VE TRIED FOR LIKE EVER AND IT DIDNT WORK BUT WHEN I EMPTY MY PHOTOS EXCEPT THE CHICKHEN. I GOT THE CHICKHEN IN 3 TRYZ

    Worked great for me on PSP Slim 2001, thanks. If you are new to all of this you need to either have a umd inserted or can change the settings to load the games. I could not get my backed up games to play until I inserted a umd. To avoid this go to advanced settings by pressing SELECT on the main menu and hold down the R Button. Then you are in the CFW advance menu set your UMD option to m33, and your are all set.

    i get as far as installing 5.03 thn whn i go to the tiff image i keep restrting over 25 times so far and it still isnt wrkng neither am i seeing 5.03 chick hen r in the system settings are either help me plz

    Wow this worked on my PSP Slim, but it wont work on my Phat. I’ve downloaded the easy installer from the link in this vid, I’ve ran the installer, It installed all the things i needed, then i went to Exophase.com and got the Tiff image for the Phat. I’ve placed the Tiff image in my PHOTO, that contains the ChickHEN files. I kept clicking on the chickHEN folder, and it freezes me and turns off, but now when it doesnt freeze, It doesnt automatically reset

    What am i doing wrong?

      Don’t place it in the ChickHEN folder, just place it at PHOTOS. At least that’s what I did, and it worked on my PSP-1004.

      I was having the same problems here until i took the umd out of the psp and it worked first try after that.. not sure if it was just the lucky attempt which i doubt since i tried about ten times before that but try that as well

    i did this on my 2003 TA-085 motherboard and it worked perfectly and without a hitch!! the people who made this need a medal or something. you are absolute gods!!

    ummm.i once installed a 5.03 version on my psp and it did not read the iso format so when ever i used to put games into the iso folder and when i used to turn it on it used to say there is no games in the psp but there was games….if i install this download in my psp will this happen again or will the iso games work

    Hi All!

    I have used this hack to my PSP-2001 with TA-085 board. It worked perfectly fine, till couple of weeks after the hack the (X) button is now not working. i can’t even check the m33 recovery settings, because when i boot it to recovery console the D-pad don’t work too. Any advise or ideas you can pass on?

    ChickHEN is a fucking joke!! I doesn’t even install on my psp at all. I been trying for hours I can’t even get this thing working. All i does it freeze, freeze, freeze, freeze all the damn time and never runs. So ChickHEN does not work until I see the proof on my psp 2000 TA88v3… I don’t believe anything.

      you have the TA88v3… cfw doesnt work on there, that why it freeze on you. there’s no problem with the cfw, its you. pay attention to the list under the download, it has the ta88v3 as un hackable.

    Ok I have PSP 1001, I used this guide did not work. I did everything manually did not work. I have the h.bin at the root of my memory stick and the .tiff in the PSP/PHOTO/ChickHEN folder tho all it does when i go to the photos in the XMB is hang. Or it will not hang and just sit there.. My question is which was not clarified in the guides. Is the PSP supposed hang then flash colors and reboot.? Or is not supposed to hang let it sit there until it finally reboots it self? Cause it either hang as soon as I click on the chickhen folder or I click on the folder the image loads and it will sit there until it goes into the screen shuts.. This is frustrating I am determined to get this to work.. So any other advice will be greatly appreciated thanks.

    WOOT!! patience is a virtue.. Got it working.. I reinstalled the easy installer buut removed the chickhen, a b c d files and left the slim one came out of USB mode rebooted went to the photo/chickhen folder and Viola CFW!!!! FTW!!!! going to play me some Xenogears lol all i wanted this damned thing for was portable PS1 games.. THANKS PSPSLIM HACKS!! U GUYS ROCK!!!

    Does anyone here send me the ChickHEN Custom Firmare Installer? The file that I downloaded here wasn’t able to work on my PSP. I tried so many time but results to nothing. I saw the video on how to use the software but I noticed that when I go to the PHOTO and choose the ChickHEN folder it turns out that I only have 5 images that is to 13 images instead? Could you please tell me if I’m doing right to my PSP? PSP Masters please help me. I want to know also what motherboard I have so that I can proceed to these steps to be able to play ISO/CSO games. More power to you guys. You are such a techie person.
