Easy ChickHEN CFW installer (Without Pandora)

Since is out PSP-2000 owners with a TA88v2 or less or a TA90v1 motherboard now have the option to now install Custom Firmware without the need of a Pandora battery.We have put together a Easy installer that contains everything you’ll need. Hellcats Recovery flasher, , PSP firmware update 5.00.

Warning make sure you only try this on a PSP that will accept PSP Custom Firmware flashing (Custom IPL) otherwise you will brick your PSP!!! PSP-3000′s will not take CFW. Check your PSP will take CFW here. Or run ChickHEN first, then when ChickHEN is loaded run PSPident from the Game XMB menu. (PSPIdent with install with this easy installer)

Steps to install CFW on a PSP Slim without a Pandora battery.

1. Check and triple check you have a hackable PSP that will accept
custom firmware flashing without resulting in a BRICKED PSP. Make sure you have a PSP with a TA88v2 or below only + or TAv90v1. If your PSP has a TA88v3 or above or is a PSP-3000 DO NOT proceed!!! You will brick your PSP.

Run the installer and point it to your Memory stick Pro Duo root.

2. If you don’t have don’t have PSP firmware 5.03. Get that here: PSP Firmware 5.03 Make a folder called UPDATE in your PSP/GAME folder and place the eboot in there on your memory stick pro duo.

3. Now lets run ChickHEN to have a homebrew enabled environment. In your PSP go to photo then click the ChickHEN photo and wait. If the PSP jams, please retry. If it flashes colours and reboots you have loaded ChicKHEN. Check your system info to be sure it say’s 5.03 ChickHEN R2. If you need help getting ChickHEN to run please visit this post.

4. Now with your PSP rebooted in ChickHEN go to your PSP XMB game menu and run Hellcats Recovery and install 5.00 M33!!! Your PSP will reboot, follow the instuctions to install PSP Custom Firmware 5.00 M33. After your done you can update to 5.00 M33-6

    I checked to make sure my psp could get cfw installed on it and it can according to Draik’s article “http://forums.pspslimhacks.com/user-help/121-psp-hackable-allow-me-answer.html”:

    Daxter Limited Edition Pack, comes with 3.80 OFW & a TA-085v2 Motherboard.

    I have that psp but when i started Hellcats Recovery it started and did all the checks and that but then when it said starting to install custom firm ware it said “error reading eboot.pbp”. It kept saying that and never changed so i thought i would turn it off, i held the power slide and nothing. So i yanked the battery… that worked but now my psp is bricked. What happened and i want to fix it. I know i can use pandoras battery and all that stuff but i dont want to have to pay for a new battery. Is there any way to un brick it.

    PS: its fully bricked i cant hold down “R” and get the recovery cosole.

      mine did the same damn thing in the exact way you described it. if you get it fixed tell me how cuz i need to know asap

      Hey Sagg1y,
      I’m in the same boat as you. I looked it up on the internet and found that you have to use a Pandora Battery and Magic Memory Stick to unbrick a PSP Slim thats FULLY BRICKED. I’m gonna order one online and i recommend you do the same.

    Hello,

    I have a PSP-2004 TA88v3, i got chicken R2 loaded on OFW 5.03, and for the first time when i loaded CFWe 3.60 it worked just fine, but then later my battery ran out and i had to reload chicken, but now when i run CFWe 3.60, the PSP crashes after showing a blank screen and does not reboot. I have tried this a couple of times but without any luck it keeps on crashing. Can you pls tell me whats wrong and how can i fix this.

      Try Downloading the CFWE 3.30 and use the Uninstall feature, after it says CFW successfully removed redownload CFWE 3.60 and install it.

    is there anything i can do to downgrade it without a pandora baattery?

    I am having trouble whenever i go into my psp in the pictures folder it says there is 0 pictures in the file chiHEN should be like shown in the video !!!!!!!HELP!!!!!!!

    and can i install 5.00 m33-6 and get all the update included in m33-4,m33-3,m33-2

      You need to have 5.00 OFW installed on your PSP in order for chicken to work, once you have installed the CFW 5.00 m33 then you can go about updating it, by placing the updates in the psp/games/update folder.

        *sigh* listen chickhen works on 5.03. it glitches sometimes (wierd colours and then reboots)

        totally wrong. download 5.03 ofw make the update folder update the psp to 5.03. enable chickhen by going into photos then go into the memory stick of games and youll see the recovery flasher(you have to put it in psp/game folder) open the game flash your firmware and then thats it. youve installed cfw

    (sorry for my english) :( ..well i study and follow the instructions very well,but still when i open the PHOTO in my xmb, only the four chickHEN image were apear but the last one TIFF formatted, it stay the same it doesn’t change. it only automatically shutdown my psp but nothings there in system setting.. still 5.03 please help me.. to put m33 on my psp 2000. its serial number is HJ2170240. its original FW is 4.01 but now it is 5.03 and still the chickHEN does’t work..pls pls pls help :-( :-( :-( .. trumpdeque@gmail.com

      If you have a PSP 2000 series, then dump the chikhen folder from the Slim folder of the Rar file into your PSP/Photo folder, be sure that you have 5.03 OFW loaded. Once done browse to you Photo/Chickhen folder in your PSP, initially your system will hang and shut down, switch on your PSP amd keep on trying, eventually it will get hacked, when the screen flickers and restarts your PSP it means that you have enabled chickhen, now you can install CFW or CFWe as per your choice. Hope this helps

      beside for the “ChickHEN” folder there is 1 more file(h.bin), make sure this file is in the root of your MS (this is where all the others are….ex: iso, picture, and video etc…)

    I did exactly what your instrcutions is but i am stock on the installing of the ckickHen from the picture folder it goes off and never goes on i tried it many times and reformat and reinstall, turn umd cahce off and umd autorun was all set to off reinstall everything , i am using a sony stick prou dou with 8 GB, please help me i dont know what else to do.

      everybody got diff way of loading chickHEN and i know sometime can be frustrated…..make sure your theme is also back in orginal and yes umb casche&autorun is turn off
      this is how l load chickhen…hope this work for u 2

      go to picture, and down to MS press “x” (rite away) then “x” again (rite away) then press all the way down and let it run

      remember you have to do this really fast…….”X – X – DOWN”

    to use this in psp phat you need to download a eggsploit.tiff image for phats.when its done install Easy ChickHEN CFW ,open your memory stick root and go to PSP–>Photos, delete slim.tiff file , select and cut all other files and paste it to Pictures folder ( like this X:\PICTURE) then copy your downloaded eggsploit.tiff image there too. restart your psp, go to photos ….

      Dude, if you have flashed CFW via hell cat recovery and your PSP is among the list of un-hackable PSPs (refer the chart above) then my friend i am really sorry to say but your PSP is Bricked!. Nothing can be done now, just try to reboot it and if by any miracle it starts then try installing a CFWe rather than the CFW. Because you cannot over rite the Firmware of un-hackable PSPs.

    I have one of the very first PSP’s that came out on Hong Kong, fat one, my system software is currently “3.40 OE-A”, originally it was 1.something, i have been able to run my stuff on that, now i was trying this Chicken thing and i can’t even install the the 5.03 firmware to start the all thing so i must be doing something wrong… maybe a step too big? If i run PSPident… i read this:

      but u have to wait for freeplay gamesave exploit they say its workin on all psp’s and firmwires

    today i discovered a cool thing fo my psp 3k
    it might help chickhen r2 users
    i was sufferin to get chickehen r2 loaded on my 3k with a 16 gb ms but this problem is finly solved
    and here is what u should do to get it loaded from the first time:
    1 connect ur psp to the pc via usb
    2 go to ms0:/PSP/PHOTO/Chickhen. were there is the four gifs and a tiff
    3 delete all the four gifs (egg pictures) ( there should be only the slim tiff inside the Chickhen folder)
    4 disconect your psp
    5 in the xmb go to photo where there is a camera icon and a memory stick icon on the memory stick icon press x then immediately press left as fast as u can
    6 do step 5 one more time and the lovely green screen will show up
    hope this will help some pepole
    im from iraq so my engilsh is bad if any one didnt understand what i said plz tell me so i will explain it in another way
    i did about a 50 tries 49 of them worked!!!

    Hello! I had this firmware version: 5.00 M33. I see that with a new firmware new games can be played and i do the update but i didnt know that i have to put custom firmware and i put 6.10. Can this be made with this method ?

    hi guys.
    i have problem with my psp.
    when I run Easy ChickHEN CFW installer, I did every thing step by step.
    when i go to photo to run chicken hen i find it with only 5 images not 13. and when i run it, after restart i go to system information but when I check the software version (after installing chicken hen) as tutorial I can not see version 5.03 not 5.03 chickeh hen r2.

    whould some body tell me what i missed or where is the problem?

    gawd…!!!!!!!!!!! i installed a 5.5 m33 thingy and now i can play any iso games even though i put it in iso file in mms and there is a “GAME” file in “PSP”…when i tried to go to recovery mode by pressing R, it wont…so whats the problem? it is bricked? i tried installing chickHEN but it says its corrupted…help me!!!! i real noob at this!!!
