Easy ChickHEN CFW installer (Without Pandora)
Since ChickHEN is out PSP-2000 owners with a TA88v2 or less or a TA90v1 motherboard now have the option to now install Custom Firmware without the need of a Pandora battery.We have put together a Easy installer that contains everything you’ll need. Hellcats Recovery flasher, ChickHEN, PSP firmware update 5.00.
Warning make sure you only try this on a PSP that will accept PSP Custom Firmware flashing (Custom IPL) otherwise you will brick your PSP!!! PSP-3000′s will not take CFW. Check your PSP will take CFW here. Or run ChickHEN first, then when ChickHEN is loaded run PSPident from the Game XMB menu. (PSPIdent with install with this easy installer)
Steps to install CFW on a PSP Slim without a Pandora battery.
1. Check and triple check you have a hackable PSP that will accept
custom firmware flashing without resulting in a BRICKED PSP. Make sure you have a PSP with a TA88v2 or below only + or TAv90v1. If your PSP has a TA88v3 or above or is a PSP-3000 DO NOT proceed!!! You will brick your PSP.
Run the installer and point it to your Memory stick Pro Duo root.
2. If you don’t have don’t have PSP firmware 5.03. Get that here: PSP Firmware 5.03 Make a folder called UPDATE in your PSP/GAME folder and place the eboot in there on your memory stick pro duo.
3. Now lets run ChickHEN to have a homebrew enabled environment. In your PSP go to photo then click the ChickHEN photo and wait. If the PSP jams, please retry. If it flashes colours and reboots you have loaded ChicKHEN. Check your system info to be sure it say’s 5.03 ChickHEN R2. If you need help getting ChickHEN to run please visit this post.
4. Now with your PSP rebooted in ChickHEN go to your PSP XMB game menu and run Hellcats Recovery and install 5.00 M33!!! Your PSP will reboot, follow the instuctions to install PSP Custom Firmware 5.00 M33. After your done you can update to 5.00 M33-6

I’m a noob and was wondering if anyone could answer this question or direct me to where i can get this question answered? Thanks in advance. Well I’m planning to buy a PSP 1000. I’m fairly certain that it has 6.02 ofw but there is the possibility that it might be 5.02. If it was either one of those two could I use this tutorial to hack it. I also have access to Pandora battery if need be. Thanks once again.

i got an error while installing this and it says ”ERROR READING EBOOT.PBP” and it just keeps repeating untill it gets to the bottom of the screen and then it goes back to the top and repeats the process. I turned it off to try to run it again but the screen doesn’t turn on but the psp itself does how can i fix this?

yeah i jus wanted to say that i tried to follow this guide but unfortunately i wasnt so successful, basicaly im tryna run this guide on a psp 1003 with OFW 6.00, i dont have access to a pandoras battery nor do i have a MMS.
so im tryna attempt this guide with the above info. im experiencing the same problem as “ehergin” near the end of the setup i get an error, in which it gives me the options to ABORT, IGNORE, RETRY.
i’ve retried many times and the same error keeps occurring. i jus decided to click ignore n carry on.
im aware the guide says i need to have official firmware 5.03 installed for chickHEN to work. buh i cant find a way to downgrade without the pandoras battery and mms.
PLEASE HELP ME.. THANX IN ADVANCE!!

Hey i had a psp slim with OFW of 3.95, i followed all the steps and managed to install Chickhen and then i was able to check the the motherboard spec. my psp motherboard was 0.88 ver1 / ver 2 (0g). then i installed dark alex “hellcat” “5.00 M33- 4″, thank you all for such an easy installer.

Hi can some buddy plz help. after following all the steps i managed to install cfw 5.00 M33-4, what i want to is, after installing the cfw shall i remove the files like the pspident, and all thre others or leave it the way they are. one more thing how can i update to m33-6. please and links would be greatfull. thank you all

Hello all!!!
My PSP was on 3.90 Official Firmware but i recently bought Tekken 6 and did the upgrade by UMD to 6.10 Official Firmware. I haven’t checked my motherboard, but according to Draik’s thread about Hackable and Non-Hackable PSPs, it must be TA-088v1 or TA-O88v2. My question is this: Can I run this program on my PSP or will I brick it for good?
