No 5.50 M33 Custom Firmware this time around.
Alex of Team M33 (Dark-AleX.org) has posted on their website that there are no plans to develop M33 custom firmware based on Firmware 5.50 which was released recently. While 5.50 did add support for sub folders and a new “news” ticker similar to the PS3 to the PSP’s XMB. M33 feel this one is worth skipping.

I definitely agree! Maybe they could get rid of ISO/CSO support to show Sony that we are moving away from Piracy. (Just a thought, ’cause it is hard for these guys to have to work all the time to stay ahead of Sony in the hacking department)

Honestly, stop with the ISO/CSO support, PEOPLE!!! Sony shut down homebrew because of ISOs/CSOs!!!
If Sony would release an OFW with support for homebrew (but without ISO/CSO, of course), I would happily upate. Although, it is a bit of a pain to haul UMDs around (I have an 8GB card, so I usually rip several of my UMDs to it for convenience), I don’t mind it because IT STOPS GUYS LIKE YOU FROM RUINING HOMEBREW!

What kind of good homebrew are we talking here? Because I sure don’t see much beyond emulators, which guess what? they all think is piracy anyways. Anyway you slice it, CFW is piracy to Sony. Not all iso/cso is piracy, so chill out. I want iso support so I can keep all 5 of my OWN ripped UMDs on my 8gig stick and be able to use the psn store to get downloadable only releases. Can’t do both right now and frankly the iso support for my own ripped games outweighs getting the new stuff for now. I guess that makes me candidate #1 for the new download only psp just so I can have all my games in one static place.

Emulators ARE NOT A PIRACY
that’s a consoles that were stopped of being produced years ago so Nintendo can’t get any profit of it and the emulators are the only way to play such a classic games so Emulators ARE NOT A PIRACY
However the ISO/CSO is so neither Davee nor DAX would rellease it however someone will -it’s a metter of time as it’s not so hard to be written

Wrong. ISOs are not piracy either. However they encourage piracy as it allows people to share games just like it would be if you could burn your own UMDs. If you own the game and have an ISO and use it for yourself its fine. But if you give that ISO to someone else then its piracy

Sigh… Emulators ARE illegal, as they run copyrighted code from a system out side of the EULA. However, companies usually do not mind (and even endorse – Contra 4 FTW) emulators for old systems.
Its a case by case basis.
Oh and I do want a CSO/ISO loader, but I can wait. Its just because I keep breaking my UMDs, but still priority one is a CFW for the 3000.

1.) HEN will not work on 5.50.
2.) Team M33 are not working on an ISO/CSO loader.
3.) You cannot install CFW through the chickHEN. If you do, this is what will happen: http://www.dark-alex.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=83&t=13500 (thought that was important to note).
And remember, the HEN won’t get us much closer to hacking the pre-IPL. You would need more of a low-level exploit, or hardware hack to dump the pre-IPL.

i think DAX is not making any updates this is to giveway for the upcoming game realeses for the psp handheld. making updates will only let the game manufacturer stop producing new games.

ISO/CSO enable is dependent on Sony now. One Sony releases the new OFW (with bette features),maybe team M33 will be interested and therefore, together with DAX, create a new CFW for PSP 3000.

Emulators technically aren’t piracy because the company doesn’t sell the console or it’s games any more. But yet it is piracy.

I think now he should be thinking about making a cfw 5.50 just to be able to play FFVII. I was so disappointed when I tried to play it *sigh* at least that is good enough reason for me… lets hope DAX is a fan of FF7 just as much as we are! =p

Actually you don’t need to upgrade to play FFVII or to download any of the PSN store downloads. You just need to change a certain text file so it thinks you have new firmware but don’t.
Just change the USB mode to flash 0 and go to vsh folder then to etc. There is a a txt file called version.txt. copy it to the desk or folder for backup. Open it and it should look like this:

Just replace the 0’s behind the 5’s to 5’s and it should look like this.

target:1:WorldWide
Save it and exit USB mode and go to the recovery menu (reset + R) under configuration enable version.txt
Enjoy buying from the PSN again.

I also just got FF7 from the PS Store… Sucks that I can’t play on my psp but Alex can skip one if he wants too! Thanks to his custom firmware I’ve got much more use out of my psp then I ever would have with the official firmware… People need to relax… play it on your ps3 for now!
