Daedalus R14

The waiting is over for a shot at as PSP Homebrew developer Wally has released a beta build of (based of Strmnnrmn’s latest source code). If haven’t a clue and don’t know what this is – Daedalus is a promising N64 / Nintendo 64 emulator for the PSP. This release is now using the PSP’s Media Engine for enhanced audio processing and emulation speed increases. Beta also features new display icons.

Wally has noted that If a debug menu pops up while running a ROM image. Just press the PSP’s square button to close it.

    I hope this has some decent speed improvements over R13. I wanna play Golden Eye with some nice FPS…Not laggy :) One way to find out. Installing it now..

    R13 was really slow with all games I tried, even at 333MHz. Even if the sound processing has moved to the second CPU it won’t go faster than R13 did without sound, which still was terribly slow.

    I like this project and hope it will turn out well eventually, but for now it’s too slow.

    Too bad, hopefully he can get it going a little quicker…The day I can play OoT on my psp is the day I disappear for a month lol

    XpanD, Yes this works on 3.xx / PSP slim units.

    I like the speed improvements without sound on Mario Kart 64, Super Mario 64, and Super Smash Bros.

    got kart to work by replacing the eboot in the old r13 file, kart runs just as slow… whats updated? still get tons of debugging screens.

    Yeah I havn’t gotten a single game to work. I can get past the error screens, and eventually to a black screen where i get nothing. I can go back to the menu fine, but nothing ever happens in the game.

    Same thing here. No game works, they all end up with this message, and it always freezes, none of the options do anything.

    I’m having a bit of trouble too. I think Make sure you run the games zipped. Takes a while for them to load up if they load. There is a load of debug msg’s…(I wish there was a way to disable this)

    So far I have played on R14:

    War Gods
    007 – The World is not enough

    Also it sometimes jams my whole PSP up. It is a BETA remember

    every game crash, got freeze and lots of errors and debug screens
    i have slim 3.80M33-5
    i prefer deadalus13 ^_^

    I’ve gotten Bust A Move DX to get some title screens and a little action but also dies.

    As i said make sure you run the n64 roms zipped. Seems to have a higher chance of working.

    Just letting u know that everything works perfect if you download Daedalus R13 and just replace the EBOOT with the one you downloaded with Daedalus R14. Then just put the files on your psp and press square when a message like this appears:

    Well, I got Ocarina of Time to work…however it’s running like I’m watching Link ride Epona on Baywatch… Full moon, clop-clop….clop-clop….clop-clop…. yeah, I’ll wait for a faster one…

    No its true you dont need the .z64 files zipped. But I’ve had more luck when there zipped

    zelda OoT works verry well on r13
    without sounds ..lol..
    oh and majoras mask…well
    its loads like a lil then it stops x.x

    It is easy to get rid of the icons that pop up. all you have to do is to press square when they pop up and keep pressing square until the game starts and you start playing then when you are there press the select button and and go to the debug display list and press x then your screen will go black for a second when you see the memory card icon stop blinking press select and the screen will go off. I worked for me try it

    You put your nintendo roms in the file called roms nd then you put the whole daedalus folder in PSP/GAME. Also you need custom firmware

    Yes, I too am having some trouble. I get the “Assert Error” message on the following games:

    Donkey Kong 64
    Super Mario 64
    007 Goldeneye

    If anyone could please tell us exactly how to fix it that would be a great help.

    Hey, I got mine to work. Just follow these steps and it should work. (Mine is a 3.90 M33-3 Slim)

    1) Download Daedalus R13 and R14
    2) Put DaedalusR13 and %DaedalusR13 into X:/PSP/Game150 (X is your PSP Jump Drive)
    3) Open Daedalus R14.
    4) Take the EBOOT.PBP file from R14 and copy it to X:/PSP/Game150/DaedalusR13
    5) It will ask you if you wish to override the file, Click YES
    6) Place any ROM into X:/PSP/GAME150/DaedalusR13/Roms
    7) Select Daedalus from the Game Menu in the XMB
    8) HAVE FUN!!! ^_^

    Exodia – Your suggestion makes no difference under 3.71 m33, it still doesn’t work. All I get is a black screen, then an error message.

    i have downgraded my psp from 2.71 to 1.50 but when i try to load r14 an error message appears.does anyone know what is going on?

    this is total BS! all it does is freeze on mario kart 64 and star wars shadow of the empire doesn’t do anything.
    3.90 m33-3.
    If this is beta it stands no chance of ever being complete!

    Exodia1010 is brilliant it actually worked on my psp slim frmware 3.90 m33-3
