Dark_AleX is currently working on a project called “Time Machine”.
This supposedly will give Slim PSP’s access to 1.50 firmware, something that has been impossible till now. Mathieulh has stated that 1.50 kernel is not the only thing it can do.. but that will be a surprise.
Here’s a link to a video showing a Slim at 1.50 firmware for you skeptics:

Well.. back in the old days, version 1.00 and 1.50 were the only official firmwares that allowed you to run homebrew. This is when the term “downgrade” was first used. There was no custom firmware back then, so everyone used 1.5.
When the slim came out, it wasn’t capable of running 1.5, because 1.5 didn’t have the special drivers needed to run on the slim.
I find the 1.5 kernel kind of pointless. developers SHOULD start developing homebrew for the 3.xx kernel. But it’s still and interesting concept.

I find its pointless too. Just develop for 3.xx
Im certainly not dying for 1.50 kernel support.

There’s many developers who quit the scene. And their programs were developed for 1.5 firmware.

@ Zach:
Try using GPSP (just google it)
If you have 3.8 m33-4 or -5 it should work.
(This is my setup on a psp slim)
You need to find a GBA .bin file, and your own ROMs. While I can’t post help for that here, if you need help finding any of this, my email is willprah [at] gmail [dot] com

Zach, you need a universal unbricker
here is a link to a pretty good guide
try asking on the PSP – Mod and firmwarer forum of afterdawn.com
here is a link to the universal unbricker
and after that is successful
thats when you do what Dixie Flatline said

One more thing
there are many good Homebrew out there that crash when you try to play them in any CFW…that’s another reason why DAX is developing this new idea.
