Custom Firmware on your TA-88v3 (PSP-2000 only!)
Fancy a bit of custom firmware on that PSP-2000 TA-88v3 motherboard? Well you can now as Xenogears and Becus25 of the Dark-Alex forums have released a M33 custom firmware enabler.
So what does it do? Custom Firmware Enabler v1.0 Temporary Loads M33 custom firmware via ChickHEN R2 to your PSP’s RAM, allowing many of the M33 CFW features to be used, however not all (for example play PSX games) Yes ISO and CSO files will run…..
This works on Ta-88v3’s and other motherboards. But NOT PSP-3000’s so please don’t try or you’ll brick your PSP.
Here’s the release notes from Xenogears and Becus25 (Translated from Spanish, so there are some errors)
What is?
A program that activates the functions of the M33 custom firmware using ChickHen.What do I need?
- A PSP Slim (Slim only works with, regardless of the plate you have)
- Firmware version 5.03.
- ChickHen R2 (minimum)Compatibility:
- The functions are the same with the 5.00 M33, all work except:

- Copy the folder to your psp CFWEnabler in X: / PSP / GAME /
To be like this: X: / PSP / GAME / CFWEnabler / EBOOT.PBP
How to use:
Starts ChickHen from the picture section. Then start the homebrew called for CFW Loader ChickHEN.
The first time you need CFW to install modules into the flash memory with the option Circle (Do not override, simply add modules, it is a safe process.)
Then press X to start the CFW.
You are in a CFW!FAQ:
- Can load isos? – Yes, yes you can.
- Do you like my PSP Slim is fucking plate? – Yes, it does not matter.
- Does my PSP3000? – No, not working, at least.
- Can you break my console? – It is true that he writes some files in internal memory, but does not overwrite anything, so this is not problematic.

Looks like Davee is going to be left in the dust. If Davee doesn’t release some form of cfw for the psp 3k others will. It’s only a matter of time, the title of CFW creator for PSP 3k is still up for grabs and someone WILL grab it. There are loads of people out there looking to make a name for themselves with other hackers just to gain access to the underground archive of hacks, and they will stop at nothing to gain it. More often than not, just 1 good hack will gain you access to the underground world and to me that’s a very thin line seperating the underground archive and the rest of the world.

make sure the iso folder is in the root of the memory card like and not inside the game folder. Which iso are u trying to play.

What is the best M33 custom firmware to ues to play iso’s / psx?

No this cannot be installed on the psp 3000 since custom firmware for the psp 3000 has never been developed, since it was impossible before to istall cfw so no one took the time to build custom firmware on specifically for psp 300, thats why it works only on slims.

if you get an error saying the game cannot run, try putting a UMD into your PSP. that fixed it for me.

HI, heh i need some help in this.
My psp 3005 does not seems to be able to change into the 5.03 chickHEN. My current firmware is 5.03, but whenever i try to use the method for installing chickHEN, it just freeze and shut itself down. and when i switch it on again, the firmware is still the same. i really hope someone could help mi in this, pls…

I was able to install chicken successfully and then the CFW. But its not recognizing any of the ISO i have put in that folder. I went through the VSH menu and from selcted the UMD ISO to M33 driver. But still its not displayign the iso i have it in it. ANy help will be very useful

PS:In video author clearly shows that his PSP is 3000,look on that ring on back of psp3000,it’s thiner than one on 2000,so this is about psp3000!
