Custom Firmware on your TA-88v3 (PSP-2000 only!)

Fancy a bit of custom firmware on that PSP-2000 TA-88v3 motherboard? Well you can now as Xenogears and Becus25 of the Dark-Alex forums have released a M33 custom firmware enabler.

So what does it do? Custom Firmware Enabler v1.0 Temporary Loads M33 custom firmware via ChickHEN R2 to your PSP’s RAM, allowing many of the M33 CFW features to be used, however not all (for example play PSX games) Yes ISO and CSO files will run…..

This works on Ta-88v3′s and other motherboards. But NOT PSP-3000′s so please don’t try or you’ll brick your PSP.

Here’s the release notes from Xenogears and Becus25 (Translated from Spanish, so there are some errors)

What is?
A program that activates the functions of the M33 custom firmware using ChickHen.

What do I need?
- A PSP Slim (Slim only works with, regardless of the plate you have)
- Firmware version 5.03.
- ChickHen R2 (minimum)

Compatibility:
- The functions are the same with the 5.00 M33, all work except:
- Recovery (Se cree may be anticipated that an alternative power to set the homebrew CFW)
- Pops (PSX Games)

Installation:

- Copy the folder to your psp CFWEnabler in X: / PSP / GAME /

To be like this: X: / PSP / GAME / CFWEnabler / EBOOT.PBP

How to use:

Starts ChickHen from the picture section. Then start the homebrew called for CFW Loader ChickHEN.
The first time you need CFW to install modules into the flash memory with the option Circle (Do not override, simply add modules, it is a safe process.)
Then press X to start the CFW.
You are in a CFW!

FAQ:

- Can load isos? – Yes, yes you can.
- Do you like my PSP Slim is fucking plate? – Yes, it does not matter.
- Does my PSP3000? – No, not working, at least.
- Can you break my console? – It is true that he writes some files in internal memory, but does not overwrite anything, so this is not problematic.
- When you turn off the console I have to repeat the procedure? – Yes, you have to repeat it, but do not have Flash modules each time.
- And you can not prevent either procedure? – Could be avoided if we could do an IPL compatible, so you need information PreIPL.
- Is expected to be in the future rectify the current problems? – It is possible, but is not guaranteed anything.
- Is expected that a future compatible with PSP3000? – You might try, but is not guaranteed anything.
- Does the M33 SDK? – Yes, it works.

Thanks to whoever said it works on a psp-3000. IT F’CKIN doesn’T. YOU PIECE OF SH*T. I just tried it and now my PSP power light comes on but nothing else? How to I fix this?

you just bricked ure psp……u should research before u do something like that….u should’ve went to the original source from where this was released which was on Dark_Alex’s forums and plaus it says it int he description above that it works only with psp slims atm

PSP-2010 TA-088v3 (prooven via PSPident) everything stated that will work… Works!

I cannot complain these guys are the best… but I wish somebody could find out a way to make HEN load at first shot….

DOES NOT! mine at least doesnt… Do not try as it has NOT been confirmed working for PSP 3000′s or TA-090 v2 motherboards yet.

not really a fan of mods for my psp but this is great u guys.homebrews are good..iso and csos are even good stuff…thats all i need to enjoy my psp 2004 ta88v3,…i thought updating to 5.03 was stupid..but it turned out fine now…im so happy i didnt update to that 5.50 thing..and my Hen loads almost every first shot(if it doesnt, i often just remove the mem stick and reboot, works all the time) but i still choose not to reboot to save some time so i keep it on standby mode…cool enough..just like playing with psp m33… genius u guys. now i can try this with my sisters psp slim. thanks. and amor powers!

almost all home-brews work and most emulators except PSX emulators…..PSPtube and the likes are working smoothly. you just need to know where to place it..i often use sony media manager so it automatically goes where it has to go to save me the time and it works. that goes for the ISOs and CSOs too..working just fine. many thanks guys. im getting younger too in my teen,

i did it an my psp works fine! the system information says 5.00 M33 and u can use a small vsh menu when u press select in the xmb. btw if u want to play backups (^^) u have to change umd driver from normal to M33 driver ^^

I have done it 4.01 to 5.03 ofw ,download the update from here only. Have to have 78% above battery or might end up bricking your psp.

great work its a very good stuff to enable m33 on psp with mother board TA-088 v3 nothing happens to psp and it gos off only when u pull out battery out of console not by swiching it on or off . and i thing in future when pre ipl will be extracted this bug will also be fixed thanks to the team it time to party now

i know people keep asking if it works on the 3000 and alot of people are getting pissed with them but their are alot of people out there saying that it does work! so try and understand that their are alot of 3000 owners about to fall of the edge of their seat at the mo coz getting CFW on the 3000 is so close we can smell it, so we are a bit jumpy at the mo

but on a lighter note. does anyone know what the tech reason is as to why it does not work on the 3000 and does work on the 2000. just would like to know. anyway thanks to everyone for the hard work and thanks to everyone that posts here as it makes for good reading. peace!!!

One psp left to be hacked and that is 3000,so please hack the 3000 because is unfair to us who have psp3000 to not have custom firmwire,I know that you working on it and that it will be a CFW for 3000,it’s just mather of weeks..

first u need to press o for the first time to flash M33 then press x to run CFW later. After that, when u restart ur psp u only need to press x
