Custom Firmware on your TA-88v3 (PSP-2000 only!)
Fancy a bit of custom firmware on that PSP-2000 TA-88v3 motherboard? Well you can now as Xenogears and Becus25 of the Dark-Alex forums have released a M33 custom firmware enabler.
So what does it do? Custom Firmware Enabler v1.0 Temporary Loads M33 custom firmware via ChickHEN R2 to your PSP’s RAM, allowing many of the M33 CFW features to be used, however not all (for example play PSX games) Yes ISO and CSO files will run…..
This works on Ta-88v3’s and other motherboards. But NOT PSP-3000’s so please don’t try or you’ll brick your PSP.
Here’s the release notes from Xenogears and Becus25 (Translated from Spanish, so there are some errors)
What is?
A program that activates the functions of the M33 custom firmware using ChickHen.What do I need?
- A PSP Slim (Slim only works with, regardless of the plate you have)
- Firmware version 5.03.
- ChickHen R2 (minimum)Compatibility:
- The functions are the same with the 5.00 M33, all work except:
- Recovery (Se cree may be anticipated that an alternative power to set the homebrew CFW)
- Pops (PSX Games)Installation:
- Copy the folder to your psp CFWEnabler in X: / PSP / GAME /
To be like this: X: / PSP / GAME / CFWEnabler / EBOOT.PBP
How to use:
Starts ChickHen from the picture section. Then start the homebrew called for CFW Loader ChickHEN.
The first time you need CFW to install modules into the flash memory with the option Circle (Do not override, simply add modules, it is a safe process.)
Then press X to start the CFW.
You are in a CFW!FAQ:
- Can load isos? – Yes, yes you can.
- Do you like my PSP Slim is fucking plate? – Yes, it does not matter.
- Does my PSP3000? – No, not working, at least.
- Can you break my console? – It is true that he writes some files in internal memory, but does not overwrite anything, so this is not problematic.
- When you turn off the console I have to repeat the procedure? – Yes, you have to repeat it, but do not have Flash modules each time.

Hi all, I have a psp-2001 with ofw version 4.01, mother board ta88-v3 (ive been told), date code 8c,
is it worth my time upgrading ofw from 4.01 to 5.03 in order to use this exploit?

this happen to be my case.
i had a psp 2004 and an OFW 4.01 to begin with, then updated OFW to 5.03 (you can DL here, just search it) then DL ChickHEN MOD (it runs smoother than the ChickHEN R2 that was posted here. then after successful installation of HEN, install CFW enabler 1.0 (follow the instructions found at this website) then at the psp menu press “select” select m33 driver. done. check system information. it should display 5.0 m33

i successfully loaded the chickHEN R2 in a psp2004 (ta-88V3 motherboard) (my psp2004 box has a letter “G” at the side of it) and currently using CFW enabler 1.0, my question is.. what will happen if i turn off my console (hard reset). because it says here that it is a temporary CFW enabler? will i repeat the whole process up to the installing of chickHENR2?

i just tried to install this app. it asked me whether i give the permission to “start the flash” or not .
i chose yes . it asked me again : “do you want to flash it ?” or somthin again i agreed and it seemed that flashed my psp in flash0 directory /
then … o0o0oPs ! my psp began to hold in a semi-black screen … nothing was happening !!
i turned it off with pulling out my battery …
and then it happens … i think my slim psp has bricked !!

1. Create at the root of your MS:an ISO folder (should b in caps) then add your ISO/CSO GAMES INSIDE it should work thats’ wat i did enjoy ; )
