3.01 Released - Supports Firmware 3.01

Continuing with their tweaks and improvements Xenogears and Becus25 have released Custom Firmware Enabler 3.01 for ChickHEN R2. While the release of Custom Firmware 5.03 GEN-A has slightly overshadowed Custom Firmware Enabler, its important not to over look Xenogears and Becus25 efforts as they have now added PSP-3000 support too :) Taking it too PSPGEN with their own kind of Custom Firmware magic on the PSP-3000.

How to enable POPS in 3.01, First download Firmware 5.00. Start PSARDumper and decrypt the 5.00 Eboot. Now Copy the “pops.prx” and “popsman.prx” from the F0 directory to your memory stick under PSP/GAME/CFWEnabler/Pops. And then “Enable Pops Support” from Custom Firmware Enabler 3.01.

    im using psp-2000 v3..
    i succeed using all the CFWenabler from version 1.0 until 3.0
    but i don’t know how to shutdown the psp..
    i alwys make it as standby mode..
    when i shutdown it will reset back 2 OFW
    help..

      What do you mean v1.0 until 3.0. Are you trying to say having v1.0 installed, you installed this new v3.01?
      If you shut down your psp completely, all m33 temporary files get deleted from the ram. So you’ll have to load ChickHen and CFWe again.

    I’ve tried gen-a but failed, haven’t tried cf Enabler 3.01 yet.
    Anyways whatever the result, i give salute to this guys for the effort the’ve put into the Psp hacking scene.

    It tells me “Installation : other version custom firmware : unloaded model : psp 3000.

    Here are the options —– flash and start——-change log—–uninstall—–exit.

    I am afraid to go any further.

      Did you installed 5.03GEN before? If yes, choose Uninstall & confirm to delete the 5.03 GEN CFW files from Flash0. Turn-off PSP & re-run ChickHEN R2. Load CFW3.01 & select Flash & Start, confirm then it will reboot. Chech System INfo & it should show 5.03 M33

      Why Uninstall first? To avoid mixing up 5.03 GEN CFW files with CFW3.01 files.

      Well there shouldnt be any propblem. It just copies files. It doesnt replace or brick. Go ahead!
      FLASH AND START. asumming you have a PSP 3k or a TA-88v3 right?

        That’s right! But I encountered an issue where I installed CFW2.51 & reboot to CFW. Turned off PSP, loaded ChickHEN R2 & tried loading 5.03GEN. I decided to go back to CFW2.51, installation is successful but failed to reboot to CFW. I’ve done many times but I’m stuck to ChickHEN R2. Then, I ran CFW3.01 & choose Uninstall. I was able to install CFW2.51 & reboot to CFW again.

        To make it short. Uninstall will help you to do a clean installation.

    Can someone help me? when I load an pops convertet to eboot.pbp i get the game could not be started 80000004?

      Firstly, Have you changed UMD ISO MODE to m33 driver. Do that first.

    I installed it and every time I switch off my psp I have to reload chicken . This is just like Gen a. What does “Flash pops modules ” mean ?

      This one is for TA-088v3 user however, it is also for psp 3K user. PSPFAN just forgot to add the guide here.

        I have a “ta-090 v2″ will it still work ? Also is there a way to install it where it stays on my system even after I turn it off ?

    Well there is no way you can keep this permanent, sadly. :(
    Why don’t you just keep your psp on standby. Don’t turn it off completley. If you do, m33 goes away, then you’ll have to load chickHen R2 and CFWe3.01 again. It’s useless. Just turn your psp off with standby.
    You obviously know how to do that. If you don’t, ill tell you. Lift up your psp switch button, then realease it quickly. Dont hold on it. If you do it will turn off completely.

    Hey I did this to my psp 3000 and it did not get bricked, it actually worked.

    I myself havent but many others have. So why dont you try it. Make sure you know what your doing. Read guides.

    Of couse why not guys? So long as you have a TA-088v3 or PSP 3k, with chickhen R2 installed, why not?
    There isn’t much difference between CFWe3.01 and 5.03gen

      think u just shut down. since its not stored in your hd-drive but ratehr flash so when u shut down the HEN and CFE is reset then u cna just delete the files that u placed on your psp

    anyone have any sugestion on runnign psx-eboots cuz i tried and fater flashing the pops it still doesn’t read the file just says corrupted for all psx games.

    OK, this installs right over gen-a.. just exit out of gen-a and restart your psp.. load up ChickHEN R2.. and install this program.. now… for 3K users run Psardump after running CFE 3.1 put the pops files in the pops folder and thats it.. really easy to install over gen-a with no problems. this program has much improvement over 2.51 and I like the change version menu where you can change the version.txt to make your psp think it is fw 5.0 thru 5.50 woot! thanks again Team Typhoon! I didn’t think this would make it to Psp 3K but I have it installed on both my 2001 88v3 and 3004 90v2. I been using it since 1.0 and it keeps getting better.

    yeah it is working 100% but theres is the problem here .. you cant put pops on psp 3000.. i tried to follow the direction on cfwe 2.51.. and the direction said there to put the firmware 5.00 on the root of psp.. but the problem here is u cant put the firmware 5.00 on psp 3k.. and they did not put a clear guide here.. DEAD END for me

      no they want you to put the eboot 5.00 firmware on the ms root. not the psp.

      when you run PSARDumper you have to be running CFE 3.1 already… then When you run PSARDumper hit X not [].. move pops.prx and popsman.prx from kd to CFWEnabler/Pops folder. then go into CFE 3.1 and flash the pops files. all my Psx were working without even rebooting. nice!

        yah i know that.. but when im putting the firmware 5.00 on my ms root it cant transfer the file to my psp and it closes it said ” cannot copy the file eboot.pbp “.. my psp is 3001 silver ratchet… help me man plzzz

    i put the firmware 5.00 on the ms root not in any of those folder on the root … and when i put the eboot it just closes and it said that “cannot copy eboot.pbp.” so i dont know now ..

      seems like you are doing the right thing, do you have enough space for the 5.00 Eboot.pbp?

        ok heres what i do.. i already have the PSaR dumper on my psp/game and it is working but i need the eboot.pbp on the root.. but when i put the eboot.pbp on the root the file cant transfer.. i download twice already the 5.00 firmware beacuse of corupt isue but is not corupt .. help me plz

        I found out how to fix it. Just rename the both files to pops.prx and popsman.prx. I renamed libpsardumper.prx to pops.prx. Then I renamed pspdecrypt.prx to popsman.prx. After I did this method, flashing of the pops were successful.

      no it installs 5.03 m33 if you try to install 5.00 m33 you can brick your psp

        yes it is so here it is copy the folder cfwblah blah watever the name to psp/game run chickhen r2 not mod r2 until it works then run cfw installer press () then wait then press X and there you go 8)

    why does it crash??when i install cfwloader then start it it crashes…turns the screen black then after 10secs its shutsdown..what should i do?i cnt use 5.03 gen a on my psp 3k cuz when i load cso games its says “the game could not be started ” but when i first tried it, it works perfectly fine but now it doesnt, i reformatted my memory card and restor defaults my psp..still the same prob..this sucks!what should i do?
