Custom Firmware Enabler 3.30+ Tutorial

Select install and your PSP will reboot.

CFWEnabler 3.30 menu screen.

This is a quick tutorial / guide to running Custom Firmware Enabler 3.30+ on your PSP-3000. We have two choices for CFW on our PSP-2000 TA-088v3+ models and PSP-3000’s. Either 5.03 GEN-A or this custom firmware. We’re now swaying towards Xenogears and becus25’s CFWEnabler as the updates are rolling out quicker, it has less bugs and a pretty menu system for enabling the various options.

  1. You need official Firmware 5.03 installed to begin (ChickHEN needs this fw version)
  2. Install ChickHEN R2 and get that running, use our tutorial and guide located here:  Guide to running ChickHEN R2 on your PSP-3000 / PSP-2000 TA88v3+
  3. Now download Custom Firmware Enabler 3.30 and install this to your PSP Memory card. put the file CWEnabler folder in PSP/GAME
  4. With ChickHEN R2 loaded in your PSP XMB go to GAME, Memory Stick and then load CFWEnabler
  5. You’ll boot up into a CFWEnabler screen, Select install and your PSP will reboot.
  6. After which your PSP will reboot into 5.00 M33-6 CFW! Easy as pie!!

In order to enter the setting and configuration menu (Recovery menu) Simply run CFWEnabler from your XMB again and this time hold the R shoulder button. You’ll boot up into the menu screen (top)

Here you have the following pretty menu’s:

Custom Firmware Enabler: Your main Config menu

Custom Firmware Enabler: Your main Config menu

Custom Firmware Enabler: Plug-ins

Custom Firmware Enabler: Plug-ins

Custom Firmware Enabler: CPU settings

Custom Firmware Enabler: CPU settings

Custom Firmware Enabler: Registry Hacks

Custom Firmware Enabler: Registry Hacks

MAC address spoof turned on. XMB effect only

MAC address spoof turned on. XMB effect only

The above screen demonstrates the MAC adress Spoof, so its not visible in the XMB. Good for screenshots like this. We haven’t gone into the Pops flashing as CFWEnabler 3.2+ supports native PSX/PS1 emulation and its pretty good.

Digg!

You don’t need to worry about that if the native 5.03 pops plays all your PS1 games without issues. leave it at that. Flashing pops is if you want to use other versions.

Is there any chance that we can have pandora like tools so it’l be more to instal CFW with these new mobo version, lastly, what happens chichenR3 by the way? Any updates?

I think that with the new mobos, Sony has somehow managed (to put it in simple words) cut the circuts that allowd use to dirrectly activate custum IPLs from ms0:\ the batteries can be issues a command code to do this. With all that we could then flash custumized IPLs, Firmware & new assigned signature codes, But on these new mobos, until they realy are sure they could do this, they wont bother making compatible IPLs. I mean, why even bother if there is no safe way to put all that in there without the slitest chance of not bricking the PSP.

We’re all hoping to be surprise with ChickheR3. Everyone is expecting for it to load on its own, and for it to Auto start CFWE, at least. Something like pretending to be an IPL.

yes u should unindtall GEN first by holding the R shoulder button when booting in the CFE menu and then select the uninstall option.CFE is better than GEN in some ways(like the no. of options in the config menu and also it has less bugs but GEN can load plugins better.

Gottcha. They are other drivers. You must switch them as needed. Right now you are using CFWE with the M33 modules build by Dark-AleX. That’s why to run iso and cso on you’re new 5.03 M33-6. M33 drivres must be in effect.

Be carefull with that, since that opens a back door to your device’s protected system folders. Any modification to thoes files will brick your device. Unless you know what your doing. This is the case for these new mobos, where there is no fixing them by superficially messing with them while the system is still off. You only could do that with older models. Read my reply on #9. Safe to use MS & UMD Disk.

you’ll be able to go to umd at game and still start it even with the m33 driver. but if it don’t switch, unless it does it on it’s own. one thing though, before running ISOs make sure you have the m33 driver. ocationaly it has switch on some people.

CFW & CFWE are two different things, hope you know. What this mean is that your friend will be running this differently. His psp must be at OFW 5.03, so upgrade if you can but not through the psp. If higher than 5.03 forget it, it wont work. When you’re ready to do this you must first run chickhenR2 for a homebrew enviornment. Then install CFWEnabler. However, if you want the CFWE to stay you must keep the psp at sleep only. If you completely shut it down, you will have to run CHickhenR2 then start CFWE againg. No-reflash, just start it. For iso put cso/iso in a iso folder@root and put the umd iso mode on m33 driver. yes it is at most stable. Yes they will have somekind of network update system in place.

so this is just an “enabler”….it allows CFW to be run kind of overriding the OFW?
and it doesn’t actually flash the PSP permanently with CFW?

        thanks

ok i bet im gonna get a lot of crap about this but here goes – is it safe to install CFE 3.30 directly over GEN-A without uninstalling? this is what i did but everyhing seems to work ok – i also deleted a folder called “files” from my Ms root – was this safe to do? i assume it was from GEN-A

@JSTHIR2ASK, Sorry, I answered your question refering to something else. Yes, you’ll be able to run your UMDs @game UMD no matter if umd device is set to MS.

@B, Ain’t that a little demon possessing your PSP. While the majority off people that are doing this want it permanantly, there are some who rather keep the integrity of the psp & still have these goodies.

@everyone, CFWE & Gen-A are not bynaries. Don’t install one on top of the other for no contamination. Think of them as both being males.

so this HB is just an “enabler”….it allows CFW to be run kind of overriding the OFW?
and it doesn’t actually flash the PSP permanently with CFW?
but will stay intact as long as the psp stays in sleepmode…otherwise i will have to repeat this guide ?

    thanks

It flashes some files that get incorporated with flash0 to have the full potential of a CFW. In the case that you shut off, you would have to run ChickhenR2 and just start CFWE “not-reflash files”. It is a simple process and worth the pain.
