CFWEnabler 3.30 menu screen.
This is a quick tutorial / guide to running Custom Firmware Enabler 3.30+ on your PSP-3000. We have two choices for CFW on our PSP-2000 TA-088v3+ models and PSP-3000’s. Either 5.03 GEN-A or this custom firmware. We’re now swaying towards Xenogears and becus25’s CFWEnabler as the updates are rolling out quicker, it has less bugs and a pretty menu system for enabling the various options.
- You need official Firmware 5.03 installed to begin (ChickHEN needs this fw version)
- Install ChickHEN R2 and get that running, use our tutorial and guide located here: Guide to running ChickHEN R2 on your PSP-3000 / PSP-2000 TA88v3+
- Now download Custom Firmware Enabler 3.30 and install this to your PSP Memory card. put the file CWEnabler folder in PSP/GAME
- With ChickHEN R2 loaded in your PSP XMB go to GAME, Memory Stick and then load CFWEnabler
- You’ll boot up into a CFWEnabler screen, Select install and your PSP will reboot.
- After which your PSP will reboot into 5.00 M33-6 CFW! Easy as pie!!
In order to enter the setting and configuration menu (Recovery menu) Simply run CFWEnabler from your XMB again and this time hold the R shoulder button. You’ll boot up into the menu screen (top)
Here you have the following pretty menu’s:
Custom Firmware Enabler: Your main Config menu
Custom Firmware Enabler: Plug-ins
Custom Firmware Enabler: CPU settings
Custom Firmware Enabler: Registry Hacks
MAC address spoof turned on. XMB effect only
The above screen demonstrates the MAC adress Spoof, so its not visible in the XMB. Good for screenshots like this. We haven’t gone into the Pops flashing as CFWEnabler 3.2+ supports native PSX/PS1 emulation and its pretty good.

whell do you take out your memory card if so then you cant have it permenantly you could try to use despar version 8 but you might permanently brick your psp(as in you cannot fix it till they figure out how to use pandora with it.)

there are two version of PSP 2000 series. the v1/v2 and the v3, the first type is hackable ( permanently) (and can be hacked by pandora method or the chickHEN method)and does not matter if the firmware is 5.4 or higher, coz this type of unit can be downgraded using the pandora method, while v3 version is he later version of PSP 2000, though hackable, can play ISO/CSO, Emulators and other Games,are not permanently, if you accidentaly loose total power, like taking the battery out of the unit, or switching and holding the power switch for 3 secs or more. this v3 type can only be hacked, at least for now using the chickHEN, and one of the requirements for chickHEN is that the firmware must not exceed 5.03. check your type of PSP.

i have ChickHen r2 now.. its easy to download and install CFWE3.30 now, but my question is, after installing everything, am i ready to play ISO games? or do i need those plug-ins? does the native plugin support ps1games?

just make a folder named ISO on the root of your PSP memory card and place all ISO and CSO files in there

Hi,
Im totally NEW to all this PSP thing.. I got it as a gift but I want to know how am I suppose to check what firmware is on my PSP? I have a PSP-2000. I want to play a game but it says I have to install custom firmware but I don’t know how to install it. PLEASE HELP. AS I SAID im TOTALLY NEW to this so please be nice.

whats your firmware? if its lower than 5.03 manually update to 5.03. then use chickHEN R2 & hellcats recovery flasher.to run it in first two attemps donwload the chickHEN mod and use its chickHEN folder. Take the h.bin from chickHEN R2 and place it in the root of the mem stick ( X:\ ) X is the drive letter. the ChickHEN folder is in X:\PICTURE\. Remove any umd discs from your psp. Then on your psp go to settings, system settings, restore default settings, the psp will reboot, go quickly through the settings, then go to system settings again, disable umd auto-start, disable umd cache. Then go to photo, mem stick, wait until the thumbnail has loaded, then open the chickHEN folder & wait. this tehnique works in the first try for me.
Then you donwload hellcats recovery flasher, put the Hellcat something folder into X:\PSP\GAME\ & run it . Congrats!!!! You have Custom firmware 5.00 m33-4.
You can use network update to update to 5.00 m33-6

I have installed this ok with r2 chicken, But whenever i switch of psp and back on it all disapears it goes back to just 5.03 instead of 5.03 ,33-6? Any one know how to keep it on permant? It only goes back to 5.03 after i switch off or reboot…..

Answers to a few things that keep coming back about the PSP-3000 and CFW:
1. NO!!! You can’t downgrade your PSP-3000 from 5.5+ to 5.03. If you upgraded to 5.5+ then sorry, there is nothing you can do for now!
2. NO!!!! The CFW (no matter which one GEN-A or 3.30) won’t stay loaded on your PSP-3000 if you turn off the system. If turning off the system switches off the CFW, imagine what taking the battery off would do!!! After you load your CFW if you want to keep it loaded just leave the PSP on sleep mode when not in use. If you turn it off you have to go through the CFW loading process.
3. ISO/CSO files have to be on a root folder called ISO. Place your ISO/CSO files there and they should run as long as you have switched to “M33 driver” in the UMD ISO MODE under the VSH menu.
Those who have the 5.03, ENJOY! If you bought a PSP-3000 recently, only the older core and Daxter bundles are likely to have OFW 5.03 or lower. The Rock Band Bundle is 5.50. If you got a PSP with 5.5, exchange it for a core system and almost certainly you will have 5.02. Only upgrade to 5.03 OFW by downloading from sites like this. Sony only offers 5.51 now!

Just got a brand new PSP 2000 with 4.05 firmware on it. From everything I’ve checked, I should be able to install regular custom firmware on it. Unfortunately, my Pandora battery won’t arrive until next week. I upgraded my firmware to 5.03.
Is it okay for me to install CFE 3.30 while I wait to try the true hack with Pandora? Will I be able to completely uninstall CFE?

I would not have even upgraded to 5.03 just in case…. I don’t know much about PSP 2000 though… Don’t you have to downgrade to some other OFW even for Pandora?

It does not matter what firmware you are on to use Pandora. It all depends on if you have the right motherboard.

Good to know… thanks. I think ChickHen R2 and CFE should work on your system. If I were you I would probably just do that and cancel Pandora. There is no risk of bricking your PSP with this method and Homebrew works great. You just have to use sleep mode if you want to keep the CFW.

If your PSP comes with 4.05 firmware, the possibility is high that it is a v3 type, that can only be hacked by chickHEN and might brick if you use the Pandora method. try to install the chickHEN R2, then run the motherboard program that can be found in this site, check your motherboard if it falls under v1/v2, then you have a permanent hackable PSP, if v3, though hackable you should be cautious in turning off your unit. put it under sleep mode at any time and always check your battery before using it.

Hey guys I try to run the CWCheats plugin on my psp 3000 with the Custom Firmware Enabler 3.30 and 5.03 GEN-A (Full) too. I put the files on the SEPLUGINS folder. The .PRX and .TXT Files. But apears an ERROR. In menu PLUGINS. The [GAME] ERROR, [VSH] ERROR and [POPS] ERROR. Please anybody Help me.

Tutorial:
1. Download cwcheat from http://cwcheat.consoleworld.org/
2. Extract it to any place (example: Desktop)
3. Open INSTALL folder (ignore all others)
4. Open seplugins folder inside INSTALL folder
5. Copy cwcheat folder inside seplugins folder
6. Create new folder named SEPLUGINS in root of your memory stick (where PSP folder is and where you placed h.bin…)
7. Paste cwcheat to created SEPLUGINS folder
8. Inside SEPLUGINS folder create 3 text files: GAME.txt, POPS.txt, VSH.txt
9. Open GAME.txt and write this: “ms0:/SEPLUGINS/cwcheat/cwcheat.prx 1″ (without quotes)
10. Open POPS.txt and write this: “ms0:/SEPLUGINS/cwcheat/cwcheatpops.prx 1″ (without quotes)
11. Power off your PSP
12. Power on your PSP
13. Load ChickHen R2
14. Load CFWEnabler 3.30
15. You are done. CWCHEAT plugin is now on by default. Menu can be accessed at any game by holding SELECT button for 3 seconds.

Guys I need some help here, I think i done something wrong in my psp. Because everytime i try to save/load any of my UMD/ISO/CSO games my psp just go freeze and then shut down. Anyone knows how to fix this problem, and does anyone encounter w/ this problem. Note:Already tried to re-format my memory stick. Thanks to anyone who will help.

ok i need help. yesterday, i had chickhenr2 and it worked perfectly and i got cfwe3.30 and it worked perfectly and it was awesome. but i have a psp 3000 so i have to load it again whenever my psp turns off. so i was doing cxmb themes and suddenly my psp just turned off. i was used 2 it so i reloaded chickhen and then when i tried to use cfwe the screen went black and my psp shut off. this keeps happening no matter how many times i try. chickhen still works perfectly i just cant get custom firmware anymore. help?

Make sure you pick 5.03 and NOT 5.50!!!!
Install like you would any firmware.

My FF – Dissidia save got corrupted and when i try to fix it the plugins that i need to use are not being recognized by CFWEnabler 3.30
i have tried FreeCheat and CheatMaster
i need these to make a memory dump of a Dissidia save to fix my corrupted one (need the .keys file)

I really haven’t got a clue about this stuff, but thanks to the great info here, I have successfully gotten my psp 3000 to run cfw 5.03 m33, without really any problems.
I have a 2 gig memory stick, and would like to get an 8 gig instead. If i change cards do I have to go through the install process again from scratch or can I just copy the files from one card to the other.

Hi, I have a question to ask. I have finished installing Chickhenr2. I checked the settings and it shows it there. However, when I run the Custom Firmware Enabler, three things show up. It says whether Installation: Not detected (of course). It said custom firmware loaded: No (this is where i’m stuck. chickhenr2 is loaded. not sure whether i should continue the program or need to do something else first). Lastly, model: psp 3000.
So, I would like to make sure whether I am good to go even though it said custom firmware loaded is a no despite having the psp system information say its in chickhenr2. Please let me know. Thanks.

HELP!
I installed this while we were still on CFE 2.10 (I have a PSP Slim 2000) it is a v3 board, but I did get ChickHEN running fine, and got the CFE loaded. While ending an .ISO and attempting to start another .CSO the psp appeared to have an issue with the .CSO file and shut down.
Now I do not have anything, and the PSP will not turn back on… I get a green light on the power indicator, but nothing on the screen… All I did was try to launch a .CSO game, up until this point all was well, and I had played several backups… This .CSO does seem to not want to launch on ANY PSP, but still why would it have bricked my slim?
It appears to be bricked, I have left it without power for many days, still will no turn on…
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY ADVICE? It appears I have a nice paperweight for my desk now…

i just got the PSP used …im sure its the 3000..because it says PSP-3001 all over the stickers… but as soon as i got it i did the update so i have version 5.51…is there anything out that i could use to do a custom firmware? or would i have to wait till something comes out for version 5.51?

For the trillionth time…. the CFW for the 3k does not stay on if you turn off your PSP. You can’t ever turn it off if you want to keep it going. You have to put the PSP to sleep instead of turning off! If you turn it off or reboot you have to go through the process of running the CFW again!

So I got version 3.5 working (should I update to 3.6?) and an iso gave me the 80020321 error, so I foolishly restarted to enter recovery mode (i know now that was a dumb idea) and lost chickHen and CFWE. I reinstalled chickHen successfully and then placed the CFWE files where I had before on the memory stick (I reformatted and restored default settings on the PSP before doing any of this just in case) I went to Game in the menu and then to the CFWE installer like before, but when I clicked on it, it didn’t say anything about flashing again. It says that I have custom firmware loaded when I go into the recovery mode, but my file system on my Memory stick does not have an ISO folder and such like it did before. I also remember the bin files being gone from the root folder, which they aren’t any more. Can I start over fresh? What about flashing pops modules? And should I upgrade to 3.6? Any help or comments appreciated.

But after making evrything as you explain, the plungs screem, give me an error “Not Pluguins detectd”
and the flash pops modules is the same.
The game won’t start about this?
