More updates and keep them coming as Xenogears and becus25 have released Custom Firmware Enabler 3.30. Another worthy update for us all. Also note that since CFW Enabler 3.2 we have native 5.03 pops support, so using the PSARDumper to decrypt the pops prx files isn’t really needed. Unless your after previous versions for some reason.

  • Fixed bug in network update.
  • Now you can change version.txt to 5.51.
  • Spoof Mac address in XMB.
  • Improved the ChickHEN patch system

Note:

Custom Firmware Enabler 3.30 for ChickHEN R2, gives you M33-6 features on your TA-088v3+ And PSP-3000′s. You need to use ChickHEN R2 to load this CFW Enabler. And Official Firmware 5.03. 5.50 is NOT supported!

    Some good news ! I just tested the “on the fly” plug-in loading and offloading and guess what ? ! IT WORKS.
    For those of you who like to mess around with plug-ins you no longer than to totally reboot your PSP to load the plug-ins. You can now with 3.30 CFWE just add them to the SEPLUGINS folder, add the lines to the appropriate txt files and go back into the CFWE 3.30 installer and enable them via the plug-in menu. YAY !

      “what does it mean to change the version.txt file to 5.51?” it fakes official firmware 5.51 for games and applications that need that firmware to work.

    Noob Question Here: Does this CFWE stick on the psp firmware??? What I mean is does it stay on my PSP even i turn it off? the reason why Im askin this is because I already Installed it on my psp and decided to format my MS and start from fresh installing when i notice that on the part that I should intall CFWE, the window that should display the “FLASH and INSTALL” part is missing and just continue to enable it… Help here….. pls.

    How do you access the Recovery Menu with this?

      you don’t hold R, boot up HEN then your CFWEnabler, go back to the installer and select Settings and that serves as your recovery menu. No need for a reboot using this.

      I find the misinformed opinion extremely funny. The cxmb plugin you talk about can be used with any CFW. The recovery menu you speak of can’t actually do anything that a normal plugin could do for you, such as recovery le(actually recovery le does more than the native recovery menu in GEN-A lol) Actually while I’m at it, I should tell you the recovery menu in GEN-A CAN’T do anything lol. Have you tried any of the features in the recovery menu ? They don’t actually DO anything. The plugin list doesn’t load up the plugins in the seplugins directory, you cant load and unload plugins on the fly like you can with CFWEnabler 3.30, CFWEnabler 3.30 doesn’t have a recovery menu but we do get a replacement menu that does all the things of normal recovery does which is a lot more than I can say for the GEN-A recovery at the moment. Still think GEN-A is waaaaaaaaaaaaay better ? lol
      I look forward to helping you switch from GEN-A some time soon lol.

    i think as long as custom firmware depends on ChickHEN, the development of a permanent CFW might be a blur.. they need to find another exploit.

      Hey Kenpachiroks,

      About the PSP 3000… I just got one (the day the 5.03 GEN-A came out) because I wanted to get in before all the PSPs in retail are 5.5+ OFW. I don’t see any problems with the screen, as a matter of fact, I love how bright and clear it is. I think you will only notice scan lines if you hold the PSP two inches away from you. Anyway, if you want a PSP3000 that is 5.03 or lower, you better be fast. Only a few of the core systems and the silver PSP bundles are 5.03 or lower. Mine was 5.02 (core system – Black), but my friend bought the new Rock Band bundle and it was 5.50. He exchanged it quickly for a core system with 5.02. My point is, go get it fast!

(other than the permanent part)” I don’t know about missing, but I wouldn’t mind a couple things being added to the release if they aren’t already in it. One of them is 1.5 legacy kernel support so we can use the older stuff that was for the PSP 1ks A lot of that stuff just doesn’t want to work on CFWE and HEN-A. An A-I-O loader for HEN and CFWE that way we only need to start up HEN and then the HEN will automatically boot into CFWE. Built in screenshot support with options to save as BMP, JPG, and PNG, Built in multi-tasking for USB mode so we don’t have to stop our games just to update/correct files. Basically stuff that would make things a little easier for the average user but nothing that a person can’t get support for via plugin.

    Does the 3.30 CFW allow for remote play and PSN Store access? If I buy a game on the PS Store, would it work?

        I do enjoy downloading videos from the PSN Store and using remote play. GEN-A allows for both (remote play and PSN Store access) on my PSP 3000. Anyone, does remote play work?

    @Palamunin…it is safe to do any, however, to psrdump is not needed when using bootloader being that bootloader(asuming U get to install the entire pack) will give U the most complete PSX/PRX compatibility. I recommend bootloader. Games are made at different times and with different fetures, like for example Chrono Cross witch is a 2 disk game and must me ran with the prx files of OFW 3.71 & not native 5.03. Say you hade this game, bootloader will ask you with which OFW prx will you run this. Once you select FW it will keep U’r selection @ config file. To download the pack I recommend, go to forums/user help/Keflers tutorial. There is a download link in his tutoria & instruction within his tutorial. To find a list of compatible OFW prx, google: psx prx compatibility list. Pick the most informative one. Good Luck!

    @Shadowboricua- when u said core pack u mean the piano black version not bundled with a game rite? the fifa09 bundle is available here. and i don wanna buy it online. ny idea what firmware the fif09 bundle runs on?

      Ken, I don’t know about the FIFA bundle. How long has it been out? I have only seen the Daxter and Rock Band bundles around. Definitely the Rock Band bundle is 5.50 and I am sure that as they restock the core system (yeah, I mean the piano black with no games) they will be coming out with 5.5+ firmware. I ran out and bought the core I knew had been in the shelves at BB for a while. Are you in US? I don’t think we have the FIFA bundle in US…. Do we?

    @Ken- I don’t have my box accessible. If you get a core or Daxter system, it should be 5.02. If it is not, you can always exchange it (at least BB does not really ask questions). Definitely the rock band bundle is 5.5+. If I get the box from storage I’ll let you know.

    I have a question about using the unofficial CXMB for 5.03 (on dl.qj) How do I get it to work? I’ve put the plugin in the seplugins folder (I believe it’s .prx format) and I’ve written the VSH.txt and it still won’t show up in the CFE menu. Am I doing something wrong or do plugins not work? Considering it shows plugins working in the tutorial…

    i know this isnt the right topic, but i have been able to get chickhen to load almost every time on my psp 3001.
    all i have to do is plug in the charging cable before i try to load chickhen, does not matter if the battery is full or dead, just plug in the cable, click on chickhen folder, scroll down, let the images catch up to the next to last one and then press x. timing doesnt seem to be that important, but if you press to soon you veiw the image, to late then try again.

    works almost every time first time, no need in leaving psp in sleep mode. try and give feedback on if it works for you because hen can be tricky.

      or you can install the chickHEN R2 Mod2 from my tutorial and have it work within 2 tries every sing time. Usually it works first try.

      I’m at 40+ reboots and it’s only failed the first time for me like 3 times.. and that’s only because I had other image files in there which was my mistake.

      no time soon. hate that you upgraded your firmware, but sony closed the tiff loophole. if you have a 3000 or a 2000 v3 board you will just have to wait, it may come who knows. if your psp is anything other than those you can have custom firmware anytime you want via the pandora battery.
      anyway i would advise everyone to not upgrade your official firmware again.

      It has been said a million times… you can’t leave it permanently unless you always put your PSP to SLEEP MODE!!!!! I have not switched off my PSP since the GEN-A came out!

        I’m using GEN-A now too.. My psp is PSP-3006.. Are there any problems if i never off my psp for a long time(a few days-weeks)? Or that is okay to be like that??

        No, there should not be a problem with keeping your PSP in sleep mode if you use your PSP regularly and keep an eye on the battery. I’ve checked the battery all the time and sleep mode does not even seem to drain the battery in a significant way… I would not leave it on sleep mode if I don’t plan on using the PSP for more than a few months, the battery might die. Then again, it will basically be like you turned it off and after recharging you will have to load the CFW again.

      I use CXMB with my PSP-30011 using this software and the Unofficial CXMB plugin thing (search google) I believe the only xmb versions you can use is 5.02, but you can take 5.00 and convert them using CTF converter (should be included when you download unofficial cxmb plugin)

      or use chickHEN and recovery flasher…
      your motherboard is hackable…
      search for a guide online…

    Hi I’m using a PSP 3000 with OFW 5.03. I loaded up ChickHen R2 and installed this to my flash but every time I boot in CFW I get a black screen then the PSP goes off. Can someone help me with this?
