More updates and keep them coming as Xenogears and becus25 have released Custom Firmware Enabler 3.30. Another worthy update for us all. Also note that since CFW Enabler 3.2 we have native 5.03 pops support, so using the PSARDumper to decrypt the pops prx files isn’t really needed. Unless your after previous versions for some reason.

Fixed bug in network update.
Now you can change version.txt to 5.51.
Spoof Mac address in XMB.
Improved the ChickHEN patch system

Note:

Custom Firmware Enabler 3.30 for ChickHEN R2, gives you M33-6 features on your TA-088v3+ And PSP-3000′s. You need to use ChickHEN R2 to load this CFW Enabler. And Official Firmware 5.03. 5.50 is NOT supported!

“try CXMB plugin al the fun of ctf themes without the bricks hey i still cant get pops to run it said it could run them natively so i tried it didnt work then i uploaded pops.prx and popsman.prx to pops folder still didnt work so whats up help me plz” Ok, Reboot into OFW + HEN R2 but don’t boot up CFWE and run the CFWE 3.30 and uninstall your CFW. At this point, this should uninstall any modules and prx files that ever got flashed to your PSP. At this point, you can now go ahead and install 3.20 or 3.30 again and hopefully this will fix your issue. Should it not fix your issue, run the new PSAR dumper on the 5.03 EBOOT.PBP using the (O) option. Once that is done, copy over the required PRX and have the CFWE installer flash them. and switch your UMD mode to “m33 driver”
Last but not least, if neither of them work for you, go to the forums and under the user help section take a gander at my tutorial thread and follow the popsloader tutorial. This will install popsloader as a plugin and should fix your problem regardless of what prx files you have flashed.

I pressed X in psardumpers menu and it worked,too^^ Now a little “tut” for people who tried uninstall and flashing pops without result.

When u uninstall the CFWE, It doesn’t delete pops.prx and popsman.prx…
if ur screen keeps black after that warning when u start a PSX game u have to load cfw and change usb mode to flash0 and open the kd folder via pc(its an hidden one). delete the files pops.prx, popsman.prx and pops_installed.prx and be carefull! (if u delete another file it will brick or damage ur psp!). Then uninstall ur CFWLoader. now u have to reinstall CFWE 2.10 (first version with pops support) and copy the files pops.prx and popsman.prx that u created with psardumper to X: ms0/psp/game/CFWenabler/pops…when u are done with that u can start the CFWLoader and enable pops support again. now u can install the latest version of CFWLoader. Have fun!

btw newer versions will show the “Flash pops” option again but don’t use it if u followed my instruction …

Did you actually turn off your psp and turn it back on then load HEN R2 + CFWE again before trying the plugin ? some people THINK just because it shows in the plugin list that I’m spouting nonsense and ignore it and then complain their plugins don’t work. It worked for me the first time and it still works after I upgraded to 3.30 and I didn’t even touch any plugin settings at all !

Mac address is a physical addres of your PSP, it does NOT change EVER ! so revealing it to Sony in forums like this could get you permently banned from the PSN via mac address filtering.

dude i figured out that my file is “RECOVERY.PRX” all caps., but the code i put is only small letters msO/SEPLUGINS/recovery.prx.. wat u think?

hi all.. its says on the list of improvements that it has improves the chicken r2 patch system. Does this mean that the problems every1 has been gettin tryna to use chickhen (not getting it to work after the 1st time it worked) is resolved??? cant be.. shouldnt that mean that the improvement is for chickHEN R2 and not custom firmware enabler.. im scared of rebooting my psp coz i always leave it on standby… having put this on my psp does this means i can switch it off????

i dont get why people want to so badly get cxmb plugins to load ctf themes…..I have tried it without any plugins and they seem to all work……i have ta-088v3 mobo on a slim 2001….

It fakes your firmware version for apps and games that require higher firmware version.

Hi Kefler, Noob here! How can I uninstall the Custom Firmware Enabler 3.20 and change it to 3.30? please let me know the safe procedure. Thanks.

Copy the new EBOOT.PBP from the 3.30 version into the CFWEnabler folder on your PSP and replace the one in there. Then, reboot your PSP so you’re only in HEN R2 and not in any version of CFWE at all.
Once you’re in HEN R2, start up the CFWEnable app that should now show as 3.30 Once the app starts up, you will have an option to “Uninstall” and use that to uninstall the old 3.20

Don’t mean to step on Kef’s shoes. Just fully shutoff the psp, then reboot and only run chickhenR2. Just incase you had CFWE to auto start, go into CFWE 3.20 while pressing your R-Trigger. See the uninstall option. Hit it. Then exit CFWE 3.20. and put your psp on usb mode. Take only the Eboot provided in the CFWE 3.30 copy it and paste it in the CFWE folder. Overwright when ask. exit usb mode. Go to mames. start CFWE. Again. in case you had it to auto boot while holding R-Trigger enter program. Then re-flash the files. That’s it.

u dont really have to uninstall the older one if its a cfe…its only there if u wanna uninstall the 5.03 gen A and replace it with cfe x.xx…..i just run the newer version and just flash and start……

That is correct you don’t have to as it’ll overwrite old files, but you can’t be sure the update will use the same files again. So, to keep your flash0 as clean as possible(as you are very limited in space) while messing around with these CFE’s it’s best you do the uninstall first and then flash the new one.

Another one of these. The creators should put at LEAST 2 weeks of work to update this. I mean, I SEE these little updates every few days. C’mon guys, I know you can do better if you stop releasing these little bug fixes and actually release CFE 4.0. Enough with the crap, get to work on the real deal.

u can load a custom theme without cxmb plugins…though i have never rebooted in that theme i just reverted back to normal (eg classic or original)….once i rebooted i had to restore original settings for chickhen to work…o well it was a risk i took…i have slim ta-088v3 (2001)……so if someone has the same model and is willing to risk rebooting than we all would like to hear from u

Unless I find a bug in CFWE 3.30, or a future update in the 3.xx offers a new feature, I’ll be sticking with 3.30 because so far everything in 3.30 works as it should and works without a flaw.

The plug-in reader is self correcting. If you reload the menu(Return to the main menu and then go back into Plug-in menu) you will see that it has corrected itself.

you have to start cfe once more, then on ce in the menu, choose settings and set umd mode to “m33″ and probably disable VSH menu to avoid trouble in the future.

Create a folder called “ISO” in the root of your memory stick(NOT in MP_ROOT/MS_ROOT) and place all your ISO/CSO’s in there

I’m trying to get this stuff to work and I’m a bit frustrated to say the least. I’ve been trying for the past few hours to get my PSP-3000 working. Honestly, the instructions seem more than I should be able to handle; I can go into ChickHEN, run CFWEnabler 3.30 but the top option is ‘Flash And Start’ . I get the option to install and obviously I would hit yes but then I just get hit with this babble of “Error: Error writing file.” four times then “Error! Flasher can’t install custom firmware”. I’m using CFE 3.30 and ChickHEN R2, and my firmware is 5.03. Please help me, thank you.. I don’t know where else to turn. :/

By the way, one last question. Okay. I’ve installed the Custom Firmware Enabler 3.30; Do I need to install the actual firmware since it’s just a ‘enabler’ ? Rather not have to run chickhen and the program each time I want to play a game. Thanks.!

As long as you don’t turn off your PSP the CFWE will stay in memory.
If you do turn off your PSP, you WILL have to start up HEN again and CFWE but you wont have to reinstall either of them. YOU DO need to flash the neccessary files the first time around to use it.

With CFWE, @vsh menu switch to usb device: to be umd disk. then put your psp on usb mode. make sure your umd disk is in first. Go to computer and open the psp drive volume. there should be an iso file. it may look like a disk if you have some sort of iso program. Right click it, then copy to desktop. Google iso to cso. Get program and convert. (Convertion is Optional) then put your iso or cso in your ISO folder at ms0. make sure the umd driver at vsh menu is set to m33 driver. Also switch usb device back to memstick @vhs menu. If anyone tells you that you can’t do this with chickhenR2, they might be right, however you are doing it with CFWE running off ChickhenR2 and this process is working just fine for me as I am telling you. So go ahead.

“is it safe to install CFE 3.30 directly over GEN-A without uninstalling?” Short answer is yes. However, if the new 3.30 uses different file names or files and no longer use the old ones, you’ll have left over files in your flash0 taking up valuable space; space that is very limited I might add.

I currently have GEN-A Installed, is it safe to just install this or is there some procedure I have to follow?

1. Turn off your PSP
2. Turn on your PSP
3. Start ChickHEN R2
4. Connect PSP to PC
5. Copy necessary CFWE 3.30 files to your memory stick
6. Press (O) to exit USB Mode
7. Scroll over to your Game menu and find the CFWEnabler 3.30 icon
8. Start up CFWEnabler 3.30
9. Select the “Uninstall” option to uninstall GEN-A files from your flash0 to keep it clean.
10. Select “Flash and Start”
11. Wait for it to finish.
12. Select “Yes” when promted to reboot into CFW
13. Enjoy and don’t remove ANY of CFWEnabler files from your memory stick or rename them.
14. DO remove the GEN-A files from your memory stick.

-There can’t be a cfwe for 5.50, cos the tiff exploit is fixed in 5.5 right?
-Has any1 dumped the Systemctrl module that xenogear is using. they say its different for gen(who later confirmed it).

*IRShell or rather stuff that comes packaged with it, CTF Themes, DevHook or rather software that gets used with devhook.

*There is currently nothing that reads or writes to the pre-ipl that they can exploit for easy dumping. Only way to do so is through hardware probing.

i switched to this from gen a because i wanted to play metal gear solid (us). gen a would show the ps screen and then just go black screen. this does the same thing. anyone have any ideas. im using psone iso maker to rip the disk, and using psx2psp v1.4.2 to make the eboot, both disk as one eboot.

anyone know what im doing wrong. do i need to flash the pops? is it safe to use easy pops loader with this on psp 3001?

I have the same issue with games I convert myself. We’re doing something wrong as far as I can tell cause others seem to be able to do it just fine. It’s not the CFWE you’re using, it’s you who are making the mistake, as I have tried as well and also can’t convert my games. I did however just download the game ISO’s I wanted that were pre-converted.

That is correct, aside from changes in appearance, there is no real difference when it comes to functionality.

No. The popsloader plugin if you got it from my tutorial is an all inclusive package.

Yes, everything gets loaded into ram so it wont be a problem. HOWEVER ! before exiting the game be sure to swap it back because plugins get semi-reloaded upon exit, same with the CFW so you will need the mem stick in there or you risk freezing your PSP

That one is going to be deficult, but keep looking everyday for at least an enabler, which is diferent.

The only game I had trouble with in my old psp 1000 is breath of fire 4 . I had to use plugins but I put it in ISO folder now it works like a charm in CFWEnabler 3.20.
