Custom Firmware Enabler 3.20

Xenogears and becus25 have released another update to their Custom Firmware Enabler for ChickHEN, version 3.20 is now the latest release. Featuring native 5.03 pops support and plug-ins will now even work outside of the plug-in folder. Also the Memory Stick speed patch is now available.

Custom Firmware Enabler v3.20 changelog:

Now you can use plugins that are not on seplugins folder.
Now we use our own systemctrl, not GENyUS ones.
Version is now 5.00M33-6.
Native 5.03 Pops is now supported.
MS Speed Patch available.
Fixed bug that did not patch version.txt properly.
Quick Start mode (Autostart if you don’t press R Trigger).

How to enable POPS in Custom Firmware Enabler 3.20, First download Firmware 5.00. Start PSARDumper and decrypt the 5.00 Eboot. Now Copy the “pops.prx” and “popsman.prx” from the F0 directory to your memory stick under PSP/GAME/CFWEnabler/Pops. And then “Enable Pops Support” from Custom Firmware Enabler 3.20

when you have quick start mode enabled, when starting cfw enabler 3.20 it will load into memory and automatically go back to the xmb instead of going into the program hitting start or whatever. you can always go back into cfwe and change settings.

no not really unless your power goes out in the pops flashing or somewhere else ur writing to flash, nothing is suposed to happen. The program doesnt overwrite the flash, it just puts the files in the flash (next to the already existing ones)

dont spoze you have a link to a good guide for doing this. i have made a e.boot for one of my ps1 games and it loads up to the playstation sign then that dissapers and i have a black screen. dosnt freeze or crash just goes black and then i exit out of the game. any help would great

Native 5.03 Pops is now supported. -what does this mean? also can we get an uninstall pops feature..i tried instaling it way back and it was a bad flash i think. Someone said it was in F0 folder but even with hidden files enabled i did not find. yea so i rely want to play my good old psx eboots

Decrypt OFW 5.03 with new-psardumper by pressing [] button. At MS:root find F0\kd and copy pops.prx & popsman.prx to your desktop. Then go to CFWEnabler/config/ and toggle usb to be Flash0. Get out of CFWE and go to usb mode at the xmb. Set your computer to show protected hidden files. then go to my computer & find your device volume drive. Go into F0/KD and copy past the two .prx files on your desktop to that F0/KD folder in your device. Don’t touch anything else. Your games must be Eboots & placed in the game folder. Make sure that the game itself has a folder. Make sure to revert settings done on your computer & your device.

help i cant get the freakin plugins to work. im trying to use hold and when i go to plugins it says ERROR! NOT PLUGINS DETECTED (its actually not no mistake). I made a seplugins foler in the root of my memory stick (its in the same directorie as PSP right?) and i added pops.txt, vhs.txt, and game.txt. and i put the hold path into the vhs.txt. still doesnt work

When i run the eboot, is it dangerous if i flash it to my system when i already have GEN-A installed? Or do i just load and boot into cfw?

Just use the uninstall function first then flash and install..

CFWE gives you an option to uninstall any previous CFW. Do that first to stay in the safe side, man!

Dud, put the CFWE folder in your psp/game. Run chickhenR2. go to games & run CFWE then flash the files. After if you want to play psx games, I recoment the following best way to do it:

Apparently, they actually “used” something from GEN-A 5.02 (not GEN-A 5.03) for the earlier version of CFWenabler without permission and then if you read the change log above, it says “Now we use our own systemctrl, not GENyUS ones.” because they “used” the systemctrl of GEN-A 5.03 to make CFE 3.01 again without permission.. It’s a good thing they now used their own systemctrl so hopefully there won’t be any dispute between the devs anymore..

It will open and load the flash, but when I try to run the program it just closes out. When I run again it acts as if I never loaded the flash in the first place…

You have to if you want to decrypt it. So that you can get pops.prx and popsman.prx from its F0 folder. CFWE 3.2 now supports it. After I installed CFWE feom v3.2 my pops did not want to work no more one way or the other. This was the best solution. so it is the one I recommend for CFWE 3.20 especialy for thoes who’s stopped working after the new update. That’s all. We don’t have to get grimmy for stuff we all are going to use to enable a pirated system on our devices.

You made a typo I think, the 5.00 is the one to be decrypted not the 5.03..

To Vocalist the CFWE expert, trust me, what he did does work. when CFWE 3.2 came out they made it clear in other words. just because the instructions said 5.00 don’t mean it can be done. Remenber Syu. He mess things up on his 2000 because he listen the the Gen-A experts. if you haven’t tried, don’t talk.

To Vocalist, I used the Official 5.03 Eboot instead of the 5.00 because after I updated CFWE to 3.2 my psx games would not load one way or the other. My psp is working fine, no brick, psx again run fine.

Trust me. I would not tell anyone to do something i did not try on my own device. I would also hate somebody misleaded. I’ve done many hacks. PSP 1000, 2000, 3000…Wii, even palyng copies on disk channel. Blackberrys, Computers, Xbox ipods, iphones and many more. But to everyone, No is not a Typo. I decrypted OFW 5.03 and got its PRX FILES IN MY DEVICE BECAUSE AFTER I UPDATED TO CFWE 3.2 THEY DID NOT WANT TO WORK ONE WAY OR THE OTHER. THIS WAS MY ONLY SOLUTION. BUT THIS WAS GODS GIFT TO ME AND NOT FOR ANYONE ELSE< SO PLEASE LISTEN TO ME AND DO NOT DO IT.

I meant to say 5.03 pbp on ms0: to decrypt it using new-psrdump and got the prx files needed for psx pops support. That simple. But I did not flash them, as there still remains a flashing problem using the CFWE program. Instead i copied them dirrectly into my device F0/KD folder. Extreme Danger, please use with care!

So CFE 3.20 does not support pops 5.00 anymore. Since the changelog says “Native 5.03 pops support”, so it’s logical to decrypt 5.03 eboot if ever psx games are not working..

I got as far as to just that, I’ve been working around my device to detect .prx especially for Ultimat VSH, trying to help cassy. She lives close to me, and I want a date with her. That was her promise, She’s the hootest girl in town.

I read the original readme file and says that you don’t need to flash the 5.00 pops anymore contrast to what the article said because 5.03 pops is already installed once you flash CFE 5.03. I guess they just copy-pasted it from their other article and didn’t even bother editing it.. Still no luck with plugins though..

Back on topic: It just dawn to me. That we are all using OFW 5.03 to actually run ChickhenR2 and CFWE, we all know that, and that just might be the reason my device did not brick. because I decrypted files most compatible to that pertaining to my OFW of my device. anyone please elaborate. could this be true?

It won’t brick.. Read this taken from the original readme: “Flashing is no longer necessary modules to run the 5.00 pops. I leave here for a manual reinstall of the original 5.03 (The option to install flash pops remain active, if you want to install another version)”. Since 5.03 pops is now supported, we can now use the one from OFW 5.03 but we don’t need to flash any pops anymore since it’s already installed.. Maybe you flashed the 5.00 after installing CFE 3.20 that causes your psx games not to run..

Yeah I know, pspslimhacks got lazy with their article. They even included an instruction to flash 5.00 pops which will prevent you from playing psx games.

To Jhazky: You’re right. but M33 is the de-facto modules used. Gen-A has too many bugs, and it has damaged many PSPs (I heard). We don’t need to rush. We’ve come a long way, and we have waited so long. I personally am surprice that the team has got this much for us. now i know for sure that it’s all possible. That they will soon be able to load CFW at device initial start up. maybe they wont ever be able to get a compatible ipl. but there are other scripts possible and more leak holes to be discovered. This opens a door for more dicoveries. I will sit back and enjoy the rumble.

The only bug I see from it is the one messed up recovery menu. I don’t believe that it damaged PSPs but there’s a bug that prevent it from launching from PSP 2k but they released a fix (I haven’t tested) on the same thread they posted the first version so nobody noticed the fixed version. I’m not expecting a permanent CFW anytime sooner because I believe it’s right next to impossible but still I’m hoping.. Well I guess I’ll sit back and enjoy too..

If ur a 088v3 or a 3k owner its nothing for you to worry about. It’s a Memory Stick issue that had plagued some users (usually Phat users and very few earlier 2k models as per my knowledge) since the release of 3.71 CFW.

I here you. In my opinion I’m just somewhat glad that we atleast have something. But i’m with you on that full fledged deal. It would make the world a much easyer and exciting place. & yes it is annoying to have to check the site everday to see what’s new and find out that CFWE went to, let’s say CFWE 4.5.3-qlx BETA, it’s stupid. I’m using GEN-A on my other PSP and I don’t see any major bugs on it.. The only bug I see is the messed up menu and it has inability to render TIFF as incompatible image which might make you accidentally activate chickhen and hang your psp..

How long does it normally take to flash? my psp 3000 has been on this screen with 2 parallel lines and a back button for quite a few minutes now.

It does, and they work fine. you have to set them up @seplugins like usual. Sometimes it’s a little tricky.

This works on PSP 3000, correct? Also, can you turn your PSP completely off and turn it back on with it booting straight into CFW Enabler? Or, do I need to launch ChickHEN every time I do a full reboot?

@hey Yes this does have a region free option.
@KG6ZVP No this isn’t a CFW release, it’s a CFW Enabler meaning you will have to boot up HEN and the CFW each time you do a hard reboot or shut off your PSP.
@ODIN Not really. it does have NATIVE support for 5.03 POPs, the dumping of the pops prx from the 5.00 ofw is optional.
@chicken No announcement has been made saying Davee has canceled R3, so until then, the answer to that is “Still in the works” and “No”

Plugins doesn’t work with this release.. You may not want to dump 5.00 pops with this because it will screw the psx games. Actually there’s no need to flash pops as it is already installed.

Someone with some tuto experience should write a mega guide for CFWE, which includes plugins, iso, pops etc….
i’ve seen one for GEN-A and its impressive….
