June 12, 2009 at 11:54 pm
@danieru why choose when you can enable all of them ?
June 12, 2009 at 11:57 pm
so if i play ff9 it will choose the best prx for it? cus i want ff9 and mgs but they both play well on different posp file
June 13, 2009 at 12:28 am
No, depending on your settings, it will first use the POPS plugin built into the CFW(in your flash0) and then if that doesn’t work, it will check for external POPS plugins in your SEPLUGINS folder. The new native 5.03 POPS plugin in CFWE 3.20 should work fine for both games though.
June 13, 2009 at 9:26 pm
To be sure every game plays good. You need to find a list of what games play with what version prx. Aside refer to Kefler’s Guide. He has put instructions on how to install the entire pack of prx files that load with popsloader. It’s a complete back and he has the download link:
Go to Forum/User/help/Kefler
June 12, 2009 at 11:56 pm
perhaps they’ll hack the 3000 ofw 5.50 I’m crossing my fingers
June 13, 2009 at 12:14 am
i got a question…..the pops.prx and the other file that you get when u extract files from a 5.00ofw eboot using a psardumper….are those files the ones that are the plugins???….i mean i put them in the pops folder…but when I go to plugins menu it says i dont have any plugins??? anyone clear my confusion since i am a noob in the psx part of psp.if they arent the plugins than can someone direct me to where i can get it??
June 13, 2009 at 6:48 am
PSX is already supported so don’t bother doing that.. Just read the readme file that came with the file and you will see that you don’t need to go through all of that.
June 13, 2009 at 9:33 pm
You put them in your pops folder that’s in your CFWenabler folder. Don’t have to flash them. For more psx games compatibility go to Forum/user/help/Kefler’s guide. In his tutorial, he has a section on how to install an entire prx compatability back together with the popsloader. Aside from these plug-ins are other one that need to be properly install so that CFWE finds them and not tell you that there are no plug-ins. Also, Kefler demonstrates a few, like LeRecovery and irshell witch are two good ones.
June 13, 2009 at 12:26 am
@YEPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! The pops plugins that come with CFWE 3.20 are the native 5.03 OFW ones. They aren’t used as normal plugins, they are loaded and unloaded as needed by the cfw. YOU DO NOT need to actually do this step. This is an optional step if the build in POPS does not work for you.

Sorry for the double post >.<
June 13, 2009 at 1:05 am
You have to put them in your Flash0 filder somehow. and i rather do it the oldfashion way being that CFWE has a failiar in writting thoes files.
June 13, 2009 at 6:49 am
The Enable Pops Support works just fine so no need to browse through flash0..
June 13, 2009 at 1:05 am
When u use PSPrardumper and I put the e boot in the root and I started up psprardumper and I pressed square to deycrpt and it was flashing0 files like crazy is this good or bad because Im scared
abit if I brick=)
June 13, 2009 at 1:10 am
when you put the Eboot in MS0:\, and run Psrdumper, all it does is decripts the Flash0 of the eboot to the MS0:\ of you MS. Look in there, you will see a folder called F0. The files needed are in F0/KD. Ther are pops.prx & popsman.prx. they go in pops folder founf in the CFWE folder. You could flash them with CFWE, though I rather put them in the old fashon way. Works better.
June 13, 2009 at 1:25 am
all im scared now is that when i run a custom the (the unoficcial one) my screen turned black i thought my psp was bricked but when i got the battery and put it on shooo! almost brick it
June 13, 2009 at 1:32 am
All this is not for the faint of heart, be brave and follow the instruction. Nothing is suppose to happend realy.
June 13, 2009 at 6:51 am
Don’t worry it won’t brick.. PSARdumper basically just “unzip” the files from the eboot.. Just like extracting a rar file and it don’t even touch your flash0.
June 13, 2009 at 9:35 pm
If it did all that, you were doing fine.
June 13, 2009 at 1:21 am

June 13, 2009 at 1:24 am
Have you actually started playing PSX games yet.
June 13, 2009 at 4:26 am
Kefler is right, I didn’t do that step but PSX works fine.. PSPSLIMHACKS just copy-pasted it from their other article..
June 13, 2009 at 1:50 am
@Joedakeys [sarcasm]No, I just posted that without evening testing it myself[/sarcasm], sorry I didn’t mean it in a rude way as you do have a valid point, I just think it’s amusing. But yes, I have tested it, and I can tell you, my PSX EBOOTS work just fine and I’m using a 3001 Piano Black PSP with OFW 5.03 CFWEnable 3.20 default install.
June 13, 2009 at 1:57 am
Cool, cause when I tried it thoes little f***ks did not work for me. So I had to do it the way I said because It came up with error code 80000004. Actually, I decrypted OFW 5.03 and used it .prx because the 5.00 ones did not work anymore once I updated to CFWE 3.2.
June 13, 2009 at 4:36 am
This is the one written in readme: “Flashing is no longer necessary modules to run the 5.00 pops. I leave here for a manual reinstall of the original 5.03 (The option to install flash pops remain active, if you want to install another version)”
And this one is from the article: “How to enable POPS in Custom Firmware Enabler 3.20, First download Firmware 5.00. Start PSARDumper and decrypt the 5.00 Eboot. Now Copy the “pops.prx” and “popsman.prx” from the F0 directory to your memory stick under PSP/GAME/CFWEnabler/Pops. And then “Enable Pops Support” from Custom Firmware Enabler 3.20″
Obviously pspslimhack just copy-pasted their article..

In the next m33 I hope there is region free, shouldn’t have to go through this setup for an additional plugin.
June 13, 2009 at 2:04 am
I double checked with an NA UMD (movie), region free does not work
June 13, 2009 at 2:07 am
Can someone tell me if UMD Dumper works for this, and if so which version should I download?
June 13, 2009 at 2:12 am

For people trying to load chickhen with the usb cable on, you should no that it does not work while pluged. At least that’s what happens to me all the time.
June 13, 2009 at 3:42 am
I found the ChickHEN R2 Mod2 by miskit0 works better. As long as you have no other images order folders in the PHOTO directory, it should work every time after a hard reboot(shut off, then turn it back on.
I’m still 1:1 at 20+ reboots for my HEN start up using the R2 Mod 2 by miskit0
June 13, 2009 at 3:56 am
Where can I get this, I’m trying to find it. do U have a URL?

how do i play psx games? i install pops form 5.00 but got error codes…how do i install? help pls
June 13, 2009 at 6:33 am
Try psrdump with OFW 5.03. Dont flash the prx files. Instead open your Device F0/KD and copy them there. If you don’t see the folders, that’s because you first have to make your protectec computer system folder show. Go to control panel. Folder options. View tab and toggle to unckeck hise protected system folder and dot check show hidden files and folder. Revert computer setting when done.
June 22, 2009 at 12:33 pm
How do I do this? Do I need to change something in the VSH menu? I can’t access the real F0/KD folder after going to control panel and changing the folder options you mentioned. Thanks for your help!
June 13, 2009 at 4:17 am
Pops, Isos, plugins, everything seems in order for me…

Psardump Firmware 5.03.
Reflash new pops.prx and popsman.prx modules (v 5.03)
June 13, 2009 at 6:26 am
That has worked for many. Do that.
June 22, 2009 at 12:24 pm
This did not work for me.
June 13, 2009 at 6:37 am
@everyone that needs help with installation process, follow this great complete guide put together by Kefler:
http://pspslimhacks.com/forum/hacking-help/complete-gen-a-cfwe-install-guide-from-start-to-finish-w-screenshots/
June 13, 2009 at 6:56 am
Who the hell made this article? DON’T DON’T DON’T do this step: “How to enable POPS in Custom Firmware Enabler 3.20, First download Firmware 5.00.
CFWE 3.2 has NATIVE support for pops 5.03 so psx WILL WORK RIGHT AWAY.
June 13, 2009 at 7:35 am
That’s not working for everyone. The majority of us know that what you’re refereing to is the main instructions. But unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, there is a work around the problem. Others are doing it, like for example, in my case where I did not have an option I had decrypt 5.03 and use it’s prx files. iput them in manually. Did not get a brick, and psx games work like charm. Now remember, that to do this we are all running OFW 5.03. That’s the reason this process doesn’t hurt your game system.
If, you’re refering to KEFLER’s article/Guide. The best I’ve seen ’till now. Recomment it!
June 13, 2009 at 9:28 am
You don’t get what I’m saying, flashing 5.00 pops will cause more problem. You can decrypt and flash 5.03 but AVOID 5.00.
June 13, 2009 at 9:35 am
Reading the comments, majority of those encountering the problem are the ones who flashed 5.00 pops. I believe you did the same thing that’s why you have errors when playing psx eboots. What I’m trying to say is don’t do those steps because that’s what causes the problem. I know your work around works well but why let people end up messing with their psp while the situation can avoided?
June 13, 2009 at 7:48 am
And how exactly do you enable them in CFWE 3.20?
June 13, 2009 at 8:15 am
@Cassy I’m about to answer that question
REJOYCE ! my tutorial located in the forums in the user help section now includes a complete POPSLOADER step by step installation guide complete with screenshots !
June 13, 2009 at 8:28 am
You don’t have to enable anything. Pops files extracted from official firmwares are sony’s official ps1 emulator modules. As long as pops.prx and popsman.prx are prsent in the flash0:\kd directory then ps1 eboots should work fine. If you haven’t flashed the pops modules from ofw 5.00 for previous versions of CFE then PS1 eboots should work natively.
If you have flashed pops modules for the older versions of CFE repeat the same process with ofw 5.03. And you can always access your FLASH0 memory by selecting it in the usb device section of the recovery menu. Note that you must enable hidden files/folders in windows to see the kd folder.
June 13, 2009 at 9:38 am
It is enabled by default but if you accidentally flashed 5.00 pops then do what Joedakeys’ workaround.
June 13, 2009 at 3:00 pm
@Jhazky, You’re right, but for the majority you don’t have to do that. Try Kefler’s Tutorial @user/help.
June 13, 2009 at 8:38 am
@DiG A quote from Joedakeys “That’s not working for everyone.” thus the reason for “Others are doing it, like for example, in my case where I did not have an option I had decrypt 5.03 and use it’s prx files. iput them in manually. Did not get a brick, and psx games work like charm. Now remember, that to do this we are all running OFW 5.03. That’s the reason this process doesn’t hurt your game system.” Which is what you just repeated…………..
June 13, 2009 at 9:42 am
Quote from DiG: “If you haven’t flashed the pops modules from ofw 5.00 for previous versions of CFE then PS1 eboots should work natively.” Joedakeys encountered that problem because he flashed an older version of pops which is 5.00. That’s why we’re saying to avoid flashing 5.00 and that’s what causing the problem for everyone. The pops 5.03 is ENABLED by default so there is really no need to flash pops module..
June 13, 2009 at 9:49 am
I IS CONFOOSED I SHUT UP NAO
Too many replies to different comments referring to other comments >.<
June 13, 2009 at 9:58 am
@Kefler
I did not mean to offend you or something but it’s a good thing that we’re helping each other to solve problems. And by the way, your tutorial is very much appreciated..
June 13, 2009 at 10:04 pm
Both of yous have a point. But still, the native ones do not work for every psx game. For a more complete compatability we are all best of installing the complete popsloader program mentioned in Kefler’s guide. Someone way before had a problem loading Chrono Cross. it hangs at a black screen after starting. What happened was, the native pops files could not run it entirely because it is a double disk and must be ran with prx belonging to 3.72. To avoid having to decrypt to many Eboot.pbp files we all should install the pack. Chrono Cross did hand black for me, but after switching the option to 3.72 @ popsload selection, the game played flawlesslly. And it;s true. Decrypt 5.00 and put the pops files in the pops folder in the CFWE folder. But don’t flash them, if not you will have to fix them by decrypting 5.03 and putting them manually. @Everyone, don’t for get popsloader is your friend, that’s why Keflers guide is also your friend. So to get it go to Forum/User/help/Kefler’s Guide.
June 13, 2009 at 10:42 am
@EVERYONE I am a genius ! I’ve figured out a way to pick up hot babes with my PSP and it is guaranteed to work for ANYONE and EVERYONE !
Just go to the forums, in the PSP Community section, go to the User Help sub forum.
In the sub forum, locate my thread titled “Complete GEN-A & CFWE Guide from Start to Finish w/ Screenshots” and look at the bottom of my second post for the full tutorial !
June 13, 2009 at 1:59 pm
Hey sorry just wanna ask about POPS again because your and other people comments are so many. Hard to define what is true. So here is what happened to my PSP. I’m using CFWEnabler for a long time that has POPS support. There is no problem when playing POPS meaning I already flash prx files already. PS1 games working with no problem. When I update to CFWEnabler 3.20 the problem occured. Opening PS1 games causes for a black screen for several seconds then resulting in a crash. So I have to repeat again chickhen then enabler again. Same crash again happened in opening PS1 game. I have a question. Do I need to reflash again prx files that is decrypted in OFW 5.00 EBOOT? What should I do? I don’t want to delete files in F0 in the PSP again because may problems occur or resulting a brick. I only done it once. Why this problem happening? Thanks alot.
June 13, 2009 at 2:26 pm
decrypt the 5.03 OFW..
June 13, 2009 at 10:08 pm
Listen to Jhazky, that should fix the problem.
June 13, 2009 at 1:57 pm
i loaded 5.03 M33-6..
how to play PSX?
Insert PSX file in ISO file same as ISO/CSO psp?
n00b ques..
June 13, 2009 at 10:10 pm
Far from the truth. make sure they are or convert them to Eboots and place them in your psp game folder with the eboot in its own folder.
June 13, 2009 at 2:25 pm
hey kefler…. thanks a lotttt for the guide man….
truly rocks…. its awesome that people like you take time out to help others….
@ every1 : Read this guide and then ask questions(i dare u)….
@kefler: r u sure there are no conflicts with the chicken mod and cfwe? cos the bin file is a bit different and i had read before that its unstable…..
and please add the native pops suffort for 5.03….lotta confusions there….
btw… were u reffering to me? “I am merely making a tutorial in response to someones comment on the 3.20 release comment section on the main site.”
June 14, 2009 at 12:33 am
Yes I was referring to you. You suggested someone make a MEGA GUIDE for all CFWE’s so that exactly what I’m doing.
“r u sure there are no conflicts with the chicken mod and cfwe? cos the bin file is a bit different and i had read before that its unstable…..”
The first Mod was bugged and was missing some function calls so it royally screwed up with GEN-A and probably CFWE as well, however Mod 2 works perfectly and I use it myself RIGHT NOW =)
Thank you for raising these questions because I’m sure a lot of people have been asking themselves the SAME questions but didn’t want to ask..
“please add the native pops suffort for 5.03″
I will be sure to add that as that is something that is causing a lot of people problems and isn’t covered in the forums yet or at least not that I’ve found.
June 13, 2009 at 2:48 pm
i also have experience with PSX problem with CFWE 3.2.
well, these are my mistakes:
1. decrypt the 5.03 OFW, NOT the 5.00
2. when using psardumper, you will be prompted to press O, X, or []. PRESS CIRCLE (O)!!!
then when flashing the pop modules, it will say there is an error (md5 error), just press circle to continue writing to flash
THESE solved my 80000034 error (and crash problem) when running PSX games
June 13, 2009 at 3:54 pm
Just a quick question. Did you flash onto a psp 3k or 2k? I’m wondering if the PSARdumper step should be done on psp 3000. Anyone had success?
June 13, 2009 at 7:13 pm
Yes it could be done on a 3k, but as an option, when the native 5.03 ones don’t work. In other words you don’t have to unless needed.
June 13, 2009 at 2:48 pm
ummm. actually im referring to my STEPS to make it work, not mistakes.
June 13, 2009 at 5:15 pm
I’m guessing this doesn’t work on the 3k?
June 13, 2009 at 6:09 pm
How about a quick glance to the screenshot?
June 13, 2009 at 5:22 pm
ANY VIDEO PROOF PLS????
thx
June 13, 2009 at 9:11 pm
If your’e refering to the CFWE Hookup, forget about the proof and just go doit and enjoy yourself, man!
June 14, 2009 at 12:29 am
Just about EVERYONE who views this website on a regular basis is using either CFWEnable 3.10/3.20 or 5.03 GEN-A CFW and I can tell you now, 99% of them are VERY happy with what they have and the 1% who aren’t happy, screwed up and bricked their PSP and it was their own fault.
June 13, 2009 at 7:01 pm
@KEFLER…YOU’RE DA MAN, KID…EVERYONE SEE KEFLER’S TUTORIAL. KNOW HE ADDED A COMPLETE POPSLOADER INSTALLATION PROCESS. GO TO FORUMS/USER/HELP.
?@KEFLER. CAN I DUMP UMDS, AND WHAT VERSION WORKS?
June 14, 2009 at 12:26 am
Look at the sticky for dumping UMD’s I haven’t read the full sticky yet so I don’t know how indepth it is.
I don’t want to step on anyones toes by writting another indepth tutorial when a perfectly good one has already been made.
June 13, 2009 at 7:43 pm

June 13, 2009 at 7:50 pm
Can someone tell me how to use plugins with CFW loader 3.20. I put the .prx files in my seplugins but the changelog said you didn’t have to do that but every time I go to the plugin options in CFW loader it said there are no plugins……So my question is how do I use plugins
June 13, 2009 at 9:10 pm
Go to Forums/user/help/kefler and use his guide.
June 13, 2009 at 8:43 pm
Anyone know how to put ctf themes on psp 3000? It will not brick psp, and the unofficial one doesn’t give good instructions at all!
June 14, 2009 at 12:24 am
You’re better off staying way from cft themes as they some can be used with the PSP 3000 and most others can’t. However, there really isn’t a way to tell you other than by reading users experience with them. Aside from there, someone will have to actually try them and HOPE they don’t brick their PSP.
June 13, 2009 at 9:59 pm
Hey guys does anyone know any plugins that work with CFWE 3.20 because all of the ones I tried dont work at all which are

*Recovery LE for CFW 3.90 – An alternative GUI vsh/recovery menu with built in screenshot capabilities.(you will have to google to find this one)
*Popsloader 1.1 – An alternative solution to POPS if the native support does not work for you and you aren’t comfortable flashing updated pops prx files to your flash0.(found in the download section)
*FuSa Gamepad – Turns your PSP into a PC gamepad.(you can find this on dl qj net)
*For applications you can take a look in the forums in the either the Download section of the forums or the User Help for my tutorial on what software works and how to install them, there is also a sticky with a list of software that works paired with a brief description of what they do. I suggest you take a read of the stickies BEFORE you ask for any help in the forums as the members have put in a lot of work to answer the common problems and questions and more often than not, your answer(s) will be in there. I hope this helps.

@everyone, so that you may have a list of what psx games works with what version of prx here is a fine link,
This thread will list the pops version that has the best compatibility of the PSX-PSP games, like this you’ll be able to identify and select the best one at popsloader selection option.

@SNiPe What you flashed with 3.10 CFWE was probably an older pops prx for 5.00 official firmware. My guess is those prx files have a version number issued in them to prevent their use with the wrong firmware version. However, you solution is a few posts above your own. Take a peek at DiG’s reply to Cassy’s question. His post should give you enough information to fix your problem.

Anyways, I thought I’d let you guys know, I just tested the CFWEnabler 3.30 and it seems to have fixed the plug-in reader which in 3.20 had a bug where it would not read or even show the plug-ins in the plug-ins list.
In 3.30 not much as changed, they of course fixed the plug-in read so now it shows plugins loaded from the GAME.TXT, POPS.TXT, AND now includes the VSH.TXT as where before it did not show. They now give you the ability to spoof your mac address within the CFWE installer configuration app, and also seems that the menu got some new items added to it. Be sure to reboot into HEN R2 only to uninstall 3.20 first before installing 3.30
REPLACE THE OLD EBBOOT.PBP with the new 3.30 EBOOT.PBP and run it in HEN R2 !
DO NOT RUN IT WHILE IN CFWE 3.20 ! you must have rebooted your PSP and started up HEN R2 but NOT CFWE 3.20 or else it wont give you the option to uninstall.

Will this work on OFW 5.51 ?

I’m afraid not my friend. However, if you have an older model PSP 200X(TA-88v2 or older) or any PSP 100X model, you can use a pandora battery to downgrade and install REAL CFW ! check the forums under user help for the tutorial link. Dokoito has posted the link in reponse to multiple threads already.
