Take this one with a large pinch of salt, its been flying around the PSP scene like wildfire today. I’ve been wondering if I should even post this or not, but I’ll let you decide after watching the above video. It’s the latest apparent Custom Firmware 6.00 MAC-B video, “Mack” basiclly trying to prove its not fake. And boy doesn’t Mack try hard to convince us all its not fake.
I personally think, unless this guy is working with or along side PSPGen decrying firmware 6.00 its a fake. But I could be wrong. Its a nicely done fake video to get a bit of the old Youtube attention by some film student.. But looking at the video, it certainly raises a few questions.
What do you think? Fake or Legit. That’s the million dollar question.

Looks real and such. Although it would be nice if they showed Soul Calibur or another game to prove that it’s real, what with that TMX stunt a couple weeks ago.

wouldn’t have worked even if they showed Soul Calibur….. it’s been hacked already to work w/ any 5.00 firmware… I’m running it right now on 5.00M33 w/ no problems at all in iso format…
I feel it’s fake for several reasons, but guess we’ll see…

Well 6.00 was decrypted yesterday. I looked on psp Gen yesterday amd they said they decrypted it. I dunno it probably is fake.

Some of the changes you mentioned come from the 6.00 OFW. Like the whole “System Update” instead of “Network Update” has nothing to do with the cxmb. It’s in the 6.00 OFW updates log…

tsk, tsk, just lik all the major ctf themes in the world, THEY CHANGE THE ENTIRE PSP FORMAT MENUS, they change the TEXTS, the icons, the backgrounds, the gameboots, and the internet look, who cares ifs in the 6.00 OFW updates log, it can be changed as long as the ctf theme wants to change it!

well, let me answer a very stupid question, you see young nooblet, if you made a video of a psp screen in the light, it would be hard to read the screen, which then would equal the opposite of your question:

Here is my two sense.
Points it could be real?:
It says System Update, NOT network update.
It says MAC gen. And had options m33/Gen did NOT have.
Points it could NOT be real?:
He did not play 6.00 games. [He did say the drivers are messed up, You never know.]
He used CXMB, How did he make a 6.00 compatible theme?
It is at revision B [It is possible that revision A was a complete clusterfuck, And the made some changes].
It’s both ways. so, It could work, It could not.
We will find out as it develops.

For all the noobs, Under [Settings] > [Network Update] has been changed to [System Update] in firmware 6.00.
Wont believe him until he shows DiRT 2 or MotorStorm running. Soul Calibur has been patched and fixed and a modded iso is avialable on the net which even runs on the 5.00 M33-6

He clicks on “Debug Settings” to start the update, then it says “Network Update”, instead of System Update(Which 6.00 is supposed to say).. all this points to this being a fake. And since 6.00 is probably not available for System Update OTA yet, of course it’s going to say he’s got the latest version installed, even if it’s Gen 5.50(as I don’t think 5.55 is even available OTA, yet). This is fake.

what we should be worrying about is the hackability of the Go! i could care less about new cfw’s for the phat/slim. i’m perfectly content with 5.00m33-6…it does everything i need it to do and then some. like what was said in another post about DAX’s involvement in 6.00, there aren’t enough feature changes to even NEED a 6.00 cfw…unless you want to play a watered down version of GT…
