For those of you that have already posted and suggested there might be Custom Firmware 6.00 M33 on the way, will be slightly disappointed. As Alek, the admin of dark-alex.org has posted that CFW 6.00 M33 isn’t planned and not to ask for it.

Quoting Alek’s PSPWiki post:

Please, don’t ask here, the Blog, IRC, etc for a 6.00 M33, as it isn’t planned.

To be honest I expected as much, and I’ll tell why that is. Because really if you look at firmware 6.00. There is really nothing new apart from a few extra theme color’s. That in itself is not worth the effort to go and make Custom Firmware 6.00 M33 when really what is new Vs CFW 5.00 M33-6 ?

What are you ideas on this? Perhaps PSPGEN and GENyUS might go ahead and make Custom Firmware 6.00 GEN-A?

    its really dissapointing!!!
    DAX must consider the games that need the 5.55 firmware to run.
    GEN must have plans for a 6.00 release. but its surely to have many bugs just like their 5.50GEN.

    So I guess there will be a 5.5 instead…… It’s ridiculous to say that 6.0 will not be needed, when we already need games that require a higher firmware.

    Doesn’t this screw over people who use CFW but don’t pirate games?

    Pretty much every game that will be coming out now and in the future will be unplayable on 5.00m33-6 at this rate even if you have the UMD.

      Yes and no. But you pretty much have to flash official firmware now to play the latest games. Unless there are more PFT updaters

    this is another opportunity for GEN to be appreciated by PSP users by making a 6.00 GEN in the near future.
    too bad for M33 fans, but Dark_Alex has already said in the past that he’ll only make another M33 if there’s gonna be huge changes in an OFW.

      unfortunately, psp 3000 still cant be hacked according to Dark_Alex. you can just buy a psp 2000.

    Alright GEN, time to take the lead even further. M33 may be a good firmware, but if it isn’t gonna be updated a lot to circumvent game protection, then what’s the point? I’ll live with a few “bugs” (some people say it has bugs, but I don’t see them) to go with frequent updates.

    to play games and all that and what he only say that will be new if there is major changes well if you are soo good and these ofw dosnt make obstacle for just made one cfw for all of us so alex dont care that soo many people want him to make one little selfish because when you start something big like this you are
    obliged to all people that depend on you then just say that you will not make anymore cfw

All the new games like dirt2, soul calibur need 5.55 to run. What about MotorStorm and DiRT 2 which are already there in my MemoryStick and on running say “The game could not be started. (80020148)” :’(

      Yeah so far these games require 5.55 as I know:
      Soul Calibur
      GI Joe
      DiRT 2
      MotorStorm
      But I think there are more. Also some cool upcoming games like LittleBigPlanet and GTA CW will also require 5.55 or 6.00 :(

        Well I logged in and still played RR online yesterday with 5.50 gen. Maybe today 6.00 is required to login to 6.00 dunno, haven’t started the game yet….

    there is also the mhu team. they usually release the cfwenablers, but they released their own full cfw, 5.50 mhu not too long ago. their cfws are based on the m33 source code, so maybe they will come out with a 6.00 m33-esque cfw. that would be interesting.

        You must be kidding me-MHU really suck-they only steall s.o else’s code and say that they’re made cfw -if MHU made a 6.00 cfw I really doubt that it will be useable at all
        BTW GEN makes good cfw :P

      i think DAX helps them on their hacking maybe because they’re in the same forum as DAX is.
      in my opinion, MHU contains more bugs than GEN. lets support GEN this time, m33 is so slow with updating their CFW, and its really frustrating.

    It’s up to Dax, but I see no reason to trouble a new m33 update for these minor features.

    I think it will be a very long time until a new m33 will be released.

On all you people that are like what about the new games etc. CFW Is mainly about all the great homebrew, Playing pirated games is an extra IMO, sure It is a nice thing to have and I would like to get assassin creed when it arrives but I aint going to rush dax to make a new M33. (im using 5.00 M33-6 and don’t really feel like GEN is as stable as M33).

      no. Dark_Alex only wants to make a new CFW if there’s a huge update from Sony. 6.00 only contains new theme colors and some few minor changes.
      maybe there will be another firmware when PSPgo is released.

      its just that he only wants to update m33 when Sony has released a firmware that has major changes in the PSP.
      though he is getting owned by GEN, he is still the best hacker of PSPs.

      yeah they’re fast. but their CFW has many bugs and most homebrews dont run in their CFW.
      DAX is still the best hacker or maker of CFW, though he’s choosy on what firmware he’ll do.

    Are you guys that greedy? Dax isn’t going to make a new m33 just for illegal game pirating. That was never his intention… just an added bonus. And new theme colors is not worth the effort. If your only need for new cfw is to play illegal games… then stfu, get a job and buy the games… and a datel battery for homebrew on a previous cfw. Until sony adds a new feature to the firmware, stop begging for m33. I think his work is the best, all around, so it’ll be woth the wait.

    i reckon cos alek has refrained from updating his M33 (im not baggin him, i reckon M33 is the best), but the games i own do require 5.55 firmware, so im gunna be usin GEN (who aren’t all that bad, and besides, the homebrew apps that do work are the best ones on M33 or GEN firmware) and I don’t reckon it’s all that buggy either. I haven’t come across any yet.

    There’s no 5.03. That number is only significant because it’s the newest official firmware that you can use to install CFW without a pandora battery. I’d stick with m33, Gen’s homebrew compatibility sucks for now. Gen’s only point is to pirate newer games.

    I don’t care who makes the new CFW m33or GEN, but as long as it’s out so I can play my games it doesn’t matter. I just want to play Disgaea 2, Armored Core 3, Tales of VS, SMT: Persona, and Gran Turismo. I don’t know if the new security measures are giving you guys problems or what, because y’all use to have these updates out almost immediately. Just keep up the good work. Maybe with this new MAC guy might provide some competition for DarkAlex and GEN.

    will dax has let us down but gen is working hard for us and gen is just as good i meen it does all the same stuff but gen has a lot more stuff to it you can make a hacked battery in the vsh and psp 5.50 gen-B full has been working good for me

    Well, being that as it may, I am going to say being able to play new games should be good enough reason to make an update to CFW. I want to play Madden 10, GI Joe, but I can’t, because I don’t have 6.00. So, i am officially requesting someone to make one for CFW, not for any reason other than to play games, so there. It would be great……yeaaaah.

    You know what i think?! i think DAX is gonna make a custom firmware but not for the psp. BUT for the pspgo! come on people the psp go is only amonth away hes probally looking into the hardware working some hacking equations and he’ll make a CFW for psp go i mean pspgo is a HUGE difference in the fimware and hardware. so chillax people after that hell probally make a psp 5.55m33 but hes probally thinking that psp go is gonna be harder and so ill make 5.55m33 after my 6.00 psp go m33 or something so all im saying is

      Well do you know what I think? and again this is only my thoughts, I think just because Sony is a multi million company and they are hurting and loosing money on their “PSP Division” due to DA’s brilliant work that it’ll be easier for them and cheaper to contact DA and arrange “something” for him to drop everything, close his web sites and be quite in the PSP World and again with a “wholesome of gratitude” from Sony so they can go back to their multi million money making business. What do you think?

    So far the list of games that need 5.50 or above are growing. I downloaded demos from psn and they won’t play because I need to update my firmware. I tired playing the new flying game IL 2 sturmovik birds of prey and it also needed an update.
    Sux, but does anyone know how to change how the games read the codes to tell it what firmware is needed to play? Is there a way to circumvent that?

    i agree with ram attack and devil fox give him time so he can do what he wants. M33 is the best custom firmware Ive used. much better than those 3.03 OE versions. besides i can wait patiently for all the new games. i just play playstation 1 games or grand theft auto liberty city stories, or even SNES and im still waiting on Daedalus x64. just give him time guys im sure he will give us a update soon

    … i updated my PSP to version 6 using PSP itself… i online frm PSP n update.. cuz i was new to PSP.. sily me… erm.. now i cant play any memory card game… soo….. wat to do.. i wan play memory card game… any solution.. PLSPLSPLSPLSSSSS… i’ll be waiting for some response
