have posted a FAQ for their soon to be released Custom Firmware 5.03 GEN-A for Hen, which by the way was meant to be released about an hour ago…. I guess we will see it today? (6th of June) They have commented that its not fake, will not cause a brick and that installation is easy. You just select what PSP model you have either a PSP-2000 or PSP-3000 and the installer takes care of the rest.

We hope PSPGen can at least release this today, as I’m sure we’re all growing tired of seeing these hyped up releases only to be followed by delays.

Here is the FAQ PSPGen have posted, again this is translated from French into English.

Custom Firmware 5.03GEN-A is for HEN is ready but due to a personal concern, a MaGiXieN absent this afternoon. This delays the launch of a few hours.

* Will it put an unofficial theme
NOT. the unofficial themes are actually files that replace the firmware in the flash of your console. As mentioned above, this operation is prohibited on PSP-3000 and PSP-2000 v3 lest its brick PSP definitively because no pandora battery for the PSP is planned

* The Custom Firmware 5.03GEN for HEN-A can be installed on all the PSP?

    Ok you guys are really sounding like idiots

    The link i gave you guys is the same archive that i downloaded from pspgen.com, after I MADE AN ACCOUNT AND DOWNLOADED IT THERE.

    There is no virus, i downloaded it, installed it on my Mystic Silver Ratchet and Clank Special Edition PSP-3001. I ran the application and it put the folders on my psp. It says under my System info.

    5.03 GEN-A (Full)

    If you dont trust me then make an account at Pspgen and download it there, or just wait for it to be posted elsewhere.

    I do you guys a favor and you freakin go haywire.

      lol thanks! I scanned the files you linked and nope no virus.. install Pspgen was easy, It serves it’s purpose and bring us to a realistic , exciting environment. I can’t belive it because I think myself was in the games !

    it doesnt work for me :( ( i did all the things in tutorial and when i pres O to rebot a screen apears that say’s Unsuported Firmware version PLS turn off PSP and i have psp 3004 OFW 5.03 like it should :( ( help

      i have a 3004 i don’t know how b/c im in the USA it even has the euro power adapter. yes pspgen is working on it.

        i mean i got 3004 used and it had 5.01 firmware and I updated to 5.03 load chickhen R2 waited till the release and it works

    Well i made and account at pspgen.com. I dowloaded the software and installed it. It installed successfully. i copied 2 iso back ups of a games i have. niether would play. but at least you can see the iso files. you can say lego indiana jones and afterburner do not run with this cfw on a psp 3000.

      did you try going to the VSH menu and changing “UMD ISO Mode” from normal to m33 driver

      Read the README

      And just run the application LAUNCH-ME and it will put the files where they need to go.

        i did that dude but when i run the LAUNCH ME there are many files and folders that pop out.. then when i open my psp there is nothing in my memory stick.. what should be the problem?

    Hey man it does work but you need to have a UMD in the drive. It will play iso files. so long as you have any umd in the drive. as long as you have some kinda umd in the drive you can play any ISO file.

    After the finnal rebout the PSP will not start , just manualy and the Firmware is not 5.03GEN-A for HEN I have a PSP 2004? So what is wrong? I must select PSP 3000 on the LAUNCH-ME?

    when i launch the LAUNCH-ME file it copys the files to my computer and not my psp…. i have a psp 2000 ta-88v3 by the way… can anyone tell me how to work this right please??……thanx

      where it says driver type in the letter of the remobable disk that your psp is in

      for example if your psp is in Remmovable disk: (G) youd put G

    I confirm that the file is triggering some anti-virus programs but the file is SAFE. No need to worry. Same as crack files which read as a virus but they are not..

    i hv got a psp 3004 and i m already using chikhen r2 and now i see this gen-a cfw and i try to use it but it doesn’t works
    i follwed the instruction given in readme but when i press o button to reboot in cfw my psp blacks out for 5 secs and then switches off and when i start it again , the chickhen is removed and official fw is loaded

    Please help!!!!!!!!!!

      Listen , Hen allows the cfw to be put in your psp’s flash .. your psp will be forever hacked as long as you put it into stand-by mode rather than shuting it down or if the batt. falls out…. if you shut it down or the batt. falls out you have to redo the Hen and cfw process

    Ok, now thats out of my system, someone, anyone tell me why when i flashed the 5.00 cfw from hellcats did KILL my 3000? HOW THE HELL ELSE WAS I SUPPOSED TO DO THIS?

      learn to read
      you need official firmware 5.03
      then install chickHEN R2 on it
      the you run this CFW

      and btw how did you get cfw on a 300 before this?

    hi, i just wanna ask if how can i use this 5.03gen-a.. i am a psp 2k user with 5.03 it seems that i cant load the chickhen r2 on my psp.. I’ve tried it almost a hundred times but it always freezes and shutdown.. what can i do to make this chickhen work? and the other thing, can i just upgrade my psp to 5.03gen-a without having a chickhen/?

    Heeey here is a simple tut from me,

    1.Make sure ChickHEN is loaded, and connect your PSP to your USB
    2.Click the launch me file and hit: PSP 3000
    3.Choose mode: Full
    4.PSP install: YES
    5.PSP unit drive: find out whe drive letter it is and fill this one in like this: M ( so no double dots)
    6. After that u see ur psp light flikkering ( on the left bottOm of your psp ), wait till it stop!
    7. Now the files are copied just close usb (HIT O ) And goto the GAMES menu.
    8. u see a program added: INSTALLER-LOADER click it and off u go.!

    This one worked for me, the Boot-file is added there somewhere and will make a program icon for u.

      I have followed the instructions all was ok. I’ve got cfw 5.03 Chicken R2. But, After flashing, then I press O, my PSP simply turns off instead of rebooting into the CFW. anybody can help?

        i had the same problem then i read somewhere on this site that the Custom Firmware 5.03 GEN-A from this site has some issues. As advised, I downloaded the one from pspgen.com and everything works fine!

    hey guys could you help me out here when i launch the “LAUNCH ME.exe” theres always an error that occur like this “The application failde to intializeproperly (0xc0000135).       no need to run launch me

      My guide to running the CFW

      install chickHEN R2 if you haven’t already

      download the zip file for the CFW for the link given above

      unzip it

      inside you find the folder files

      copy it into the root of your psp memory stick

      then copy the folder 503gen-for-hen-pspgen(this is what you’ll get if you unzip it without changing the folder name)into the psp\game folder

      i guess it wont work if the folder has a different name

      then disconnect psp from computer

      go to games–> memory stick and inside you’ll find the eboot to install the cfw

      follow instructions on screen

    Like i said before, if it did not reboot into CFW, u have to repeat the whole process:
    1. erase “files” folder in the MS root directory
    2. erase “INSTALLERxxxxxxxx” folder located in ms0/PSP/GAME/
    3. repeat the “LAUNCH-ME.exe” installer (make sure you type the correct PSP drive letter
