Custom Firmware 5.50GEN-A – Update: 5.50GEN-A Build 4

and PSPGen have released their Custom Firmware 5.50GEN-A for PSP-1000 and PSP-2000 v1 & v2 only. This custom firmware supports official 5.50 features with Popsloader PSX and ISO support. There is also the option to hide your MAC address.

Update: Custom Firmware 5.50GEN-A build 4 has been released to fix the PSN network bug. Please download below to patch this bug.

What’s new compared to 5.02GEN-A?

  • Support for functions of official Firmware 5.50
  • Functions standby reset and Pandora have been removed
  • The plug-in Bubbletune to classify games according to category was deleted
  • Patch Slim Colors Bubbletunes was deleted
  • The pops is functional (emulation of PS1 games to work)
  • The custom firmware 5.50GEN-A supports the launch of ISO and of PS1 games
  • Popsloader and all plugins are normally incurred.
  • The option “hide your MAC address is always available in the recovery

We are working on a new more complete recovery could be fitted to future updates of our Custom Firmware 5.50GEN-A. GENyUS has chosen to implement a more traditional recovery in order not to delay the release anoncée.

Installing Custom Firmware-A 5.50GEN Installing Custom Firmware 5.50GEN-A :

  • Download our RTU Pack
  • Connect your PSP to your computer via USB, Connect your PSP to your computer via USB,
  • Post your PSP in “USB mode” with the option “USB Connection”.
  • Open the previously downloaded Pack RTU (WinRAR must be installed) Open the previously downloaded Pack RTU (WinRAR must be installed)
  • Press the “Extract to”
  • Select the location of your PSP and press OK
  • Wait until the extraction of files. Quit the “USB mode” on your PSP.
  • Go to the menu “Game> Memory Stick” and run the PSP Update ver. x.xx x.xx

    Bricked psp is a broken psp. it will never open again. FOREVER

    Oh and before you do this,. You already NEED CFW.. or at least Chick-hen R2 running on your psp. Chickhen works on psp 3000. but your ofw needs to be 5.03. if you have a firmware higher that 5.03. tough luck. :

      5.03M33 firmwares and below can not play UMD games that require a firmware above 5.03.

    So far, I’ve found two bugs with this version, even after updating it with the Build 4 patch:

    1) The VSHMenu while in XMB is still enabled even if you set it to Disabled in Recovery Mode. This poses some problems with certain games or features that use the Select Button, such as Mainichi Issho Portable (for in-game screenshots, gives an error) and the PSP Camera (to switch between Picture Mode and Movie Recording Mode)

    2) The VSHMenu in XMB actually says “5.51″ when in fact the CFW is still 5.50 LOL

    I hope we can get some fixes for these hehe

    I think they are taking too long to release a hack for PSP 3000 with a 5.50 OFW. They already have one for PSP 100 and 2000 so they should start making one for the 3000 version instead of making other things.

    God i cant wait till they will release a hack for PSP 3000 running 5.50 OFW. They need to stop working on the old psp versions. They have enough CFW updates/exploits already. Its OFW 5.50 for PSP 3000′s turn to be worked on :)

      Yeah but think about all of the bricks that they’ve had to go through on the older systems. They’re just safer because they can use a Pandora to unbrick and then try something else. Once a later version of the 2000 or 3000 is bricked, it’s done. There’s NO fix for either of them.
      But here’s an idea: Why don’t you spend the money to make one yourself? :) You’ll have to buy a new 3000 model every time you brick one.

    can anyone explain what would be the best cfw launcher for the psp 3000 to get? … its funny how we were all waiting at one point for just one release …. now we have like 20 … i have no idea which one would be the best … can anyone shed some light on which one would be good for playing ps1 games, psp backups, etc … thanks in advance!

    Hey guys, I’m very new to this. If I somehow get this firmware loaded, does the custom firmware app like the Utimate_PSPTube and Netfront Internet Browser work on GEN-A custom firmware. These uses ChickHEN and M33 firmware?

    Guess my question is if I load GEN-A CFW, is it incompatible with M33 CFW? Anyone able to use these apps using GEN-A?

    Please help me….
    i went to a repair shop who says that they can upgrade or downgrade psp units, i ask the technician if he can hack my new psp 3004 and he said yes.. so after he work on my psp the hack was ok but told me not to turn it off coz the psp will rebooth again and he will have to work on it again.. The big problem is, now my UMD is not working, wont even play any other UMD.. can some1 tell me what happened to my umd ? and why is it not working anymore? did he F***ED up on the process of hacking it? or did he do something wrong with the psp program that made my umd useless??? PLS help.. THANKS A LOT MODS. and to the people who will leave a comment on this..

    I used HELLCAT recovery to go from 5.50 GEN-A to CFW 5.0 M33-6. I just didn’t like the fact that most of the plugins won’t work with GEN-A, especially the one I really like is the PSPSTATES (savestates/loadstates). M33 is more popular. I have a PSP Slim 2000 v1, btw.

    hey guyz i just wanna know if this GEN-A works for 3000 (5.03) coz above it only mentions psp 1000 and 2000….
    i have cfwe 3.5 but cxmb doesnt work in it so i want GEN-A since it has CXMB plugin

      No. 3000 can only use 5.03GEN-A.

    i have a 2004 hackble psp and i want to hack it, but i don’t have the guts for it because:

    -i’m afraid of brick it, although i know it’s hackble;
    -after installed, can i unninstal it and change it to an Official Sony Firmware?;
    -does it acepts true umd games?;
    -can i go to PSN or play infrastructer games?, cause it doesn’t let me enter them without updating for an Official Sony Firmware;
    -is IT legal?;
    -are homebrews legal?

    (last two are jus curiosity)

      dude all that is possible, it is legal n homebrews r legal n yes u can do all that stuff expet go to the PSN STORE =/. but u can ply online, n if u use PBATT N MM its a 99.9% it will work

      - If you brick it you can use a pandora battery to undo the brick and get it back to where it was.

      - No. You’re installing rogue software that isn’t under Sony regulation onto a Sony product, therefore it’s illegal. You also run the risk of ending your warranty if they find out which equals no repairs.
      - No, unless it’s a back up. But even then it isn’t really legal at all.

    I have a psp slim 2004, so if i download this, will it play .iso games. It has version 5.50 by the way.

      You’ll have to downgrade first. This doesn’t work with OFW 5.50.
      Buy a pandora battery and find a tutorial online on how to downgrade it. Otherwise you run the risk of bricking it which I don’t think you want.
