Custom Firmware 5.50GEN-A – Update: 5.50GEN-A Build 4

GENyUS and PSPGen have released their Custom Firmware 5.50GEN-A for PSP-1000 and PSP-2000 v1 & v2 only. This custom firmware supports official 5.50 features with Popsloader PSX and ISO support. There is also the option to hide your MAC address.

Update: Custom Firmware 5.50GEN-A build 4 has been released to fix the PSN network bug. Please download below to patch this bug.

Installing Custom Firmware-A 5.50GEN Installing Custom Firmware 5.50GEN-A :

Download our RTU Pack

Connect your PSP to your computer via USB, Connect your PSP to your computer via USB,

Post your PSP in “USB mode” with the option “USB Connection”.

Open the previously downloaded Pack RTU (WinRAR must be installed) Open the previously downloaded Pack RTU (WinRAR must be installed)

Press the “Extract to”

Select the location of your PSP and press OK

Wait until the extraction of files. Quit the “USB mode” on your PSP.

Go to the menu “Game> Memory Stick” and run the PSP Update ver. x.xx x.xx

well, its good that the developers of this CFW made it w/o the use chickHEN.
its good for us, psp slim owners and bad for psp3k owners.
but i’ll still go for the 5.00m33. i hope DAX will make a new CFW soon.

RTU which mean the Custom Firmware 5.50GEN-A that they release. (PSPGEN_CF550GEN-A-build3.zip 26.8 MB ) , you can download that from pspgerber .com

HI, I just received my used PSP from eBay. The person who sold it to me change the case and upgraded it to 5.50. How do I now the version of my PSP Slim? (As I don’t now the original serial number nor the firmware) I had to open it up to find out, it’s aTA-088 mobo but no version printing information. Thanks for anyone’s help

After clicking “Network Update” anyone else notice that it downloads 5.51? If so, is the 5.51 an OFW or a CFW? Accoring to this Original Post is states “An update 5.51 will be online soon (see the VSH menu)” Anyone try this yet?

Careful with the instillation. Alot of people on QJ (PSPUPDATES) have been reporting bricks trying to update to this firmware on the normal slims. I can’t confirm whether thats true or not since I’m studying for exams at the moment but from several comments I’d make sure that you install it properly.

I have a trick 99%working to make chickHen R2 load on the psp 3000 – Okay first keep all the giffs in the folder with the tiff. And then you go to the folder and let the egg giff picture load up in the map and then go into the folder and scroll down as fast as you can and press left to exit the folder. After 1 second press right left rigth left and so on until chicken loads but if it dosent load try again.

The 5.50 GEN-A is for the v1/v2 Slims and the Fat PSPs

My PSP’s a v2 Slim and I have been running on 5.02 GEN-A before I updated to the 5.50 GEN-A, confirmed with no problems (at least for me that is).

Updated again with the 5.50 rev4 patch and it works perfectly, fixed the PSN bug that I encountered when I tried accessing the PS Store and playing MaiItsu Portable… Thanks PSPGEN

If you’re encountering Memory Stick access speed drops after upgrading to 5.50 GEN-A, just patch your CFW with the 3.71 FATMSMOD patch for 5.00, it still works with 5.50… Works on mine as well

For all of those who get “ERROR: CORRUPTED DATA” when trying to install the update, you must have the 5.50 OFW installed. You need to have a CFW installed in order to update to this 5.50 gen version. In short, if you updated to the 5.50 OFW a while back then yes – you are still fucked.
