Custom Firmware 5.50 Prometheus-3 v4 Installer

v4 almost when under the radar. And we almost missed this one. It seems updated 5.50 Prometheus-3 not twice but four times hence the v4. This is the installer by neur0n which includes the official 5.50 and 6.31 update eboots correctly named. The installer extracts the needed prx files from the 6.31 and 5.50 eboots and installs 5.50 Prometheus-3 v4. You need to be running Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN for this to work correctly. This is only for PSP-1000′s to PSP-2000′s that are non TA088v3. Prometheus-3 v4 should let you run pretty much every known PSP game. The 6.31 ones too!

Since all the files are included in this download you don’t need to download official firmware’s 5.50 and 6.31 separately.

Prerequisites: You must be running Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN or install Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-D3


Installation instructions:

  1. Just point the self extracting rar archive to the root of your PSP memory stick duo & run it .
  2. Then from the XMB Game menu run the Custom Firmware 5.50 Prometheus-3 v4 Installer.

    n00b here, I had 5.50 GEN-D running but I updated to 5.50 Prome-2 (What it says in PSP), can I install just install Prome-3? Or do I need to reinstall GEN-D, then install this.

      No your fine, your on GEN-D so all good.

    I installed it and smackdown vs Raw 2011 wont load up…any suggestions? Oh and it works perfectly on 5.50 GEN-D3

      Try changing your UMD ISO mode in the VSH menu or recovery menu. Try the M33 driver.

      Try this one it works perfectly on WWE SVR 2011

      1:Try downloading iso tool 1.81
      2:put the isotool folder into game folder on psp
      3:put the game in the iso folder on psp
      4:start isotool and go to WWE 2011 iso press x
      5:select eboot decrypt
      6:it will ask u if you want a backup, say no
      7:it will ask you if you want to enable version patch say yes
      8:It will then ask you if you want to start, say yes
      9:When finished select the iso again
      10:select patch
      11:select prometheus
      12:select 06BETA1 and press x
      13:it will ask if you want to start say yes
      14:when finished exit iso tool
      15:go to vsh menu set CPU speed to 222 and change UMD driver to M33 then exit vsh menu
      16: Start game.

    I’ve got Prome-3 v2 installed on my psp. Can I just install prome-3 v4 without uninstalling prome-3 v2? It’s a similar question what Earende asked but it’s slightly different :)

      Yes any 5.50 Prometheus version on 5.50 GEN is fine. I came from v2 myself.

      Try this it work perfectly

      1:Download Iso tool 1.81

    Hello..i got psp phat 1000, running 5.50 prome-2
    i extracted the update folder and ran it..it says can’t extract file would i like to extract it from 631 pbp, i click yes..it goes back to xmb with error code..and then i’m still running 5.50 prome-2?
    what am i doing wrong??

    i tried updating to prome-3 once but reverted back to 5.50 prometheus because most downloaded games are already been patched..

    I just updated from 5.50 prome 2 to this and now my ghost of sparta saved data wont load because its corrupt. Im fine with starting over but i was wondering of there’s a way to fix that without restarting the whole game?

    I didnt quite understand this… I hav a PSP-2000 that needs ChickHEN to activate the games, so its not quite permanent becuz i use 5.03 GEN-C. If I download all the prometheus and install them in order will i be able to play the games permanently even when i completely turn it off or not. Or is this intended for a different psp? Thx

      @Yieringra There are two kind of PSP 2000:with motherboard TA-88v1 or 2(5.50 Prometheus-3 v4 will install on those models)and with motherboard TA-88v3 like yours and mine,a motherboard which needs ChickHEN in order to install LCFW(LCFW is a CFW which is not permanent).CFW 5.50 Prometheus-3 v4 will NOT install on your PSP.
      Please,for your own good,do NOT try this!I tried once on my PSP 2000 TA-88v3 ,when I had FW 5.03,another CFW for old PSP 2000 and 1000 and I couldnt install my CFW anymore.Foolish move,I updated,being so stupid to think that there is only one CFW per FW!!And now look at me.Im playing old retro games using Half Byte Loader and Im waiting for TN’s HEN.But I learned a lot of things since then…

    Ok I figured out how to get it to work.

    Download Custom_Firmware_5.50_Prometheus-3 and take the 6xxModules folder and copy it.
    Then go to your Custom Firmware 5.50 Prometheus-3 v4 Installer. rar navigate to the update folder and paste the 6xxModules folder into it. Then put it on your psp and it works.

    I hope this helped anyone else that had a problem. I did it to my psp and it worked

      I have the same problem, but the thing is that i didn’t get the error code, the screen just freezed on please wait and nothing is happening. I can’t get out of it either, any ideas what to do?

    1. Download the prometheus 3 -v4 installer from the link above.
    2. Paste it in the root of your memory stick; from there, extract the file (select extract here)
    3. You may now delete the original rar.file
    4. You may now disconnect your psp from your computer.
    5. In your psp, go to your Games menu and you should now see prometheus 3 v-4 installer.
    6. Just run it and wait until it is complete.

    That’s what I exactly did and I had no problems. Follow at your own risk. I have a fully hackable PSP 2k.

    I want to play monster hunter portable 3 and i know that i need Prometheus and firmware 5.50 GEN-D3 for it to work. But will it work for 5.50 GEN-D (FULL)?

    Will thsi work on a PSP-2000 TA-085?

    and also, when I installed the OFW thing for it, it seemed to reset my PSP. B.G was changed, etc. My games were still on there, but not showing up. And also, the installer for the CFW is corrupted. I tried taking it back out and putting in a new one, but it still says its corrupted. Any ideas? Im using .iso’s

    I think there is a bug on this firmware, as after i update to this latest Promo-4, i found that my PSP2000 start button will intermitently pop up during game play.. :-( .. i tried to check whether it is my PSP hardware issue, but it seems not likely as this happen only during game play .. not sure whether they will be a bug fix version soon? many thanks

    hi I’m using 5.50 gen d3 and I’m trying to get persona 3 portable to not freeze. so far I have installed iso tool 1.91 and the game was working fine until I got to date 6/8 on the game where it froze with the music still playing. can you give me any help here?
