Custom Firmware 5.50 D2 to D3 switcher released.

Red Squirrel has released a cool PSP homebrew application that can switch you from Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN D2 to Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN D3 if need be. Why would such a application be handy? Well as some games have issues running under D2 or D3 its handy to switch over to what ever Custom Firmware is compatible with the game your looking to play etc.

Release notes:

D2-D3 Switcher is a simple PSP homebrew to switch easily from CF 5.50GEN-D3 to -D2 and viceversa.
It works changing only the peagasus.prx in Flash0. Returning to D2 (using the D2′s peagasus.prx) you will can use those savedatas that appear corrupted in D3 or play those games that have issues with D3 (such as Jak and Daxter, Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker, etc…). But remember to come back to D3 when you want to play those modern games that require it

    Wait so this switches the firmware without the use of a pc? Or is it you need to swap those .prx’s If this works then i’ll be jumping on this asap.

    GEN D3, corruped data for GTAVice city, man cmon, thats like one of the best games for the psp, even better than liberty city.

    I think you must have GEN-D3 to use this, not D2. It only switches file peagasus.prx, so this can’t be used to update your GEN-D.

    im using 5.50 gen-d3 .. copied the switcher into my mmc… run it… it says now im using the gen-d2 ..
    when i check system information, my firmware still shows gen-d3 ..

    is it suppose that way? or it will change to confirm the switch works?

    Hey please i need help,
    I put this on the psp then I run ,while running it freezes at the sony logo and it shuts off. This also has been happening to my other utilities. Please I need help and thank you for your time. (soz if this is a nooby question).

      That’s what im experiencing right now on my PSP 1001 Fat. Stucked on PSP gameboot, freezes, then shutdown.

      Im trying to downgrade my PSP with pandora and mms, doesnt seem to work to work now beacause of this.. Maybe I need to brick my PSP again just for it to work. Too bad… this would have been a great app.

        Happened to me to but fixed. Turns out that if you get an error about peagasus.prx it deletes it. To fix it just re-download it and put it in your flash0:\kd

    where should i put the downloaded folder/file? there is no instruction on how to install it.. pls help..

      Put it in the game folder in your memory card its under the psp folder under “GAME” folder

      So I just put the folder with the 4 files on GAME and run the installer and thats it? No risks at all?

        tats it and you’ll c the option pops up….works for awhile for me until my d-pad don’t work no more..i think this switcher is a bug problem used it at ur own risk…my psp is mess up now…dammit..lol…

    I wasn’t surprised when it didn’t work on my 1001. I still have a Slim though. I think the Phat uses a different pegasus.prx.

      Yeah, I also screwed my PSP 1000. Hopefully my Pandora Batt will be useful here.

    Did you guys upgraded your PSP in order? (Meaning GEN-D,GEN-D2,GEN-D3) If you didnt, you will be missing the required previous prx files needed for the tool to work and risk a POSSIBLE brick. At least thats what my teacher, Klown said. Be careful and GL

      I had the samer problem man, but don’t worry I managed to fix it. The reason the games won’t work is because the prx file that was supposed to be replaced is missing. To get it back, but re-run the 5.50 GEN D3 update and everything should be alright.
