Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-D Released

Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-D has just been released, the release that should have been the cursed 5.50 GEN-C release. This custom firmware now lets users play back up UMD’s that require firmware 5.55 or 6.00 without patching the eboot.

So you save yourself a few steps in playing 5.55+ games. No more extracting the games eboot, using game decrypter to patch the eboot. Then finally re-building the ISO. None of that is needed anymore, thanks to

Remember this is for PSP-1000′s, PSP-2000 (Pre TA-88v3) and NOT PSP-3000′s

Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-D Features:

  • All features of 5.50GEN-B2 are available.
  • Compatibility with games requiring firmware 5.51 with no additional handling (now, you don’t need Game Decrypter)
  • Compatibility with most of games normally protected and refusing to be ran on a Custom Firmware (Full Metal Alchemist, Soul Calibur, etc). Yoshihiro has created a system to run them and he succeed to make this system more stable and it’s now compatible with all PSP, unlike the 5.50 GEN-C.
  • Possibility to connect at the Playstation Store via MEDIAGO, to retrieve game and goodies without having to install Fake USB or other complicated stuff.
  • Support for 480×272 AVC video playback.

Ok installed and tested, my plug-ins all seem to work. RemoteJoy lite .19, Game Catagores v4, Ultimate VSH. And emulators, PSX and iso seems to run fine.

    But would I still be able to play the games patched for 5.5 genb2 with Yoshiro’s decryptor… I didn’t keep copies of my original UMD dumps… so please can anyone confirm this!!

    Good, Now they just have to make 5.50 GEN-F (for stupid 3000 updaters), 5.55 GEN-A or MHU (5.55), 6.00 m33, GEN-A or MHU (6.00) or 6.10 m33, GEN-A or M33 (6.10)

      lol gen-f??? i believe that mac is working with the gen team to hopefully bring us into the 6.00 cfw. for now be grateful. decrypting games took too long. hey i wonder where dark alex is? if you are out there i think you should work with the gen team and whip out a firmware that allows psp to sync with bluetooth. it can be done. im moving into the tech field. hopefully i will pick up the trade.

      if you psp is not TA-088v3 you can install thi hak but not without pandora

      You can hardmod your battery into a pandora and restore it if you’re on a psp 2000. You have to cut a certain wire, and that will make a pandora. when you’re done installing custom firmware, you can redraw the cut wire with a pencil, restoring it to normal. that’s what I did.

      check if your psp mother board is has a v2 if it has you can fully hack it…

      NO! You need pandora battery so your PSP can go into service mode. Plus make sure you also have a Magic Memory Stick. The Magic Memory tStick aks MMS is just a name but you use your memory card that is compatiable with your PSP. If you have a PSP Slim (2000) with the original PSP battery I can help. But first find out your PSP motherboard. I manually made my pandora battery but its a bit risky if you dont know what you are doing.

      they cant update the cfw version for TA-088v3, 3000 and they dont make ChickHEN if someone made exploit like chickhen for new version only then will be new cfw for these psp models until then you dont have to ask for new cfw and for now no one is working in that direction

    Hey guys! I´m trying to play Gran Turismo on the GEN-D but the game get started, show the initial credits and after the notice about “the game support auto save so dont remove the memory card…bla bla bla” and this mensage fade out and nothing happen! The PSP still working, I can press the HOME to exit the game…. I tried using M33 Driver and Sony NP9660.

    Can Any one Helpme!?

      hey i got the same problem. im on 5.50 Gen-D2. Gran Turismo loads great then it stops at the GT logo just before the opening scene on the game. i decrypted the eboot on 5.50 Gen-B. after i updated to 5.50 gen-d2 then i was feeling bored so i loaded gran turismo. i will try and reinstall the game without the decrypted eboot and the encrypted eboot just to test out fo myself. but i take the Gen Team for what they said about no longer encrypting eboots on Gen-D.

    the make pandora and normal battery is not working,, and they remove also these options in the recovery menu.. but hey,, all of my games work perfectly even the naruto shippuden akatsuki rising which i have problem playing it with gen-b2

    :-( … all of my games seem to be working BUT some of my fav apps aren’t like psptube,pspfiler6.4,pspkvm, and irshell loads up but feature dont work does anyone know any work arounds or fixes??

      did you try to patch irshell with the 5.00 patch to 5.50 gen i did when i updated from 5.00 m33-6 to gen a then update to gen b/ 2 then to gen c and mine still works fine and so does psptube high memory mod

    Everything is working for me including themes and plugins, gran turismo, psp filer 6.4 but there is suppose to be a fix coming out for irshell.

    yea i got everything but psptube to work, would almost kill for an update, its a good app to have at work, it give me an error psptube try to load dvemgr.prx for video out etc… show me file paths blah blah error something about pspsdkloadstartmodule 0xb00010002

    hi,i have psp phat 1004 with cfw 5.50 gen-b(full),when i try to install this firmware my diplay gone to black page and nothing happen not turn off or hang or anything just i have rest the psp and everything back to normal.can someone help me to install this firmware on my device cause i want to play GTA and not run on my current ver.

    some people has this problem from gen-a or gen-b to gen-c or gen-d and bum black screen
    make the install directly to gen-d with pandora batt. and magic stick put before install format flash0
    and flash1 this way everything will be fine i had install gen-c this way and i didnt have no problems with it
    same when gen-d was released again no problems

      weird my psptube 2.0 high memory mod stopped loading. only psptube 2.0 is working.

    I made a magic stick with Gen B2 which means I can modify it straight to Gen B2…..
    In the update to Gen D there is an option to make a new magic stick which after reboot gives me the option to flash CFW 5.50 GEN-D.

    My maybe dumb question is (since I’ve been reading that if you are at 3.90m33 you have to go to GEN-B then GEN-D). Am I right in thinking that you no longer need to go to GEN-B then GEN-D, but you can flash straight to GEN-D without any problem ?

    got differnt VSH menus working for both.. SAWEET

    I dont know if anyone else has seen a problem with the time and date on 5.50 Gen-D. I used my access point to update the time. It didnt do anything at all. I had to manually input the time. So far no problem with iso/cso game files on this update. I updated a 5.00 M-33-6 directly to 5.50 Gen-D. 5.50 Gen-D has its own update on its own. There just isnt no need to update from 5.00 M33-6 to 5.50 Gen-A to Gen-B to Gen-B2 thus being able to then load Gen-D. Saved myself time.

    I share the bad experience when installing Gen-B when my PSP turn off and could start at all. I send to repair and paid to upgrade to Gen-B. I am worry the similar incident happen when installing Gen-D. Anyone kind to show an idiot guide for me? I have P2000 and a normal batt and turn on the power when I install. Any thing I must take note? Thanks.

    can some1 please tell me how to put 5.55 games on a phat psp running 5.50 gen-d .

    because when u extract a 5.55 game, instead of gettin an iso or cso, u get a PSP_game folder and a UMD DATA file

    when i put the PSP_game folder and UMD data file in my ISO folder i cant see it on my actual psp.
    but apparently u dont need to decrypt those games if ur on 5.50 gen-d

    so can some1 please help me in detail its much appreciated

    Is there a way to play psn downloads? I downloaded Crash Bandicoot before I hacked my psp, and now the game won’t work. I downloaded a demo after putting 5.50 gen-d on my psp, and that wouldn’t start either. Do I need to install something that will allow me to play these games? Or is it not possible?

    This works PERFECT. Such an awesome installer, and all UMDs that require firmware 6 run on it (Disgaea 2 specifically)! Way to go, GEN! I was on m33 5.0, and the installer brought me up to 5.50 D Gen within 3 minutes and with *no* fuss whatsoever.
