Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-D Released

Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-D has just been released, the release that should have been the cursed 5.50 GEN-C release. This custom firmware now lets users play back up UMD’s that require firmware 5.55 or 6.00 without patching the eboot.

So you save yourself a few steps in playing 5.55+ games. No more extracting the games eboot, using game decrypter to patch the eboot. Then finally re-building the ISO. None of that is needed anymore, thanks to GENyUS

Remember this is for PSP-1000′s, PSP-2000 (Pre TA-88v3) and NOT PSP-3000′s

Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-D Features:

All features of 5.50GEN-B2 are available.

Compatibility with games requiring firmware 5.51 with no additional handling (now, you don’t need Game Decrypter)

Compatibility with most of games normally protected and refusing to be ran on a Custom Firmware (Full Metal Alchemist, Soul Calibur, etc). Yoshihiro has created a system to run them and he succeed to make this system more stable and it’s now compatible with all PSP, unlike the 5.50 GEN-C.

Possibility to connect at the Playstation Store via MEDIAGO, to retrieve game and goodies without having to install Fake USB or other complicated stuff.

Support for 480×272 AVC video playback.

Ok installed and tested, my plug-ins all seem to work. RemoteJoy lite .19, Game Catagores v4, Ultimate VSH. And emulators, PSX and iso seems to run fine.

I cant get Soulcalibur to work still. It says Game Cannot be Started, I have the driver set to NP9660 and I tried it on m33 driver, all other games are working just not this one

I was putting 5.50gen-c on my psp 1003 and flashed official sony psp 5.50 firmware by mistake, is there any way i can load back custom firmware back… Can anyone HELP???

The same thing happened to me but just go to recovery mode and format flash1 with default settings and hopefully it will work for you cos it worked for me. Also, if that doesn’t work go to recovery mode and toggle usb and then delete all gen c stuff =D cos thats also what i did.

Okay I had 5.50 GEN-C and everyone had problems but for some reason everything worked fine but then they released GEN-D so I updated from GEN – C to D and now I cant play my ISO’s. I went to recovery and tried it with both M33 Driver and the Sony Driver and it still doesn’t work. Anyone have any ideas? Is it because I upgraded from GEN-C to D but I was supposed to do it from GEN-B2 to GEN-D? I’m not sure. I’m going to go back with GEN-C until I can fix this problem. Could anyone help? Thanks.

Excellent, so far all of my homebrew, ISOs, and plugins work from GEN-B2. No flash1 format required! Sure I had to redo my settings to what I had them (they reset), but that’s a minor setback. CXMB works flawlessly, as does Game Categories, and those are the two I use most.

Anyways, I restarted all over again using pandora battery to 5.00m33-6 and did the process all over again to GEN-B2 but this time instead of upgrading to GEN-C then to D, I tried it from B2 and it works great so thanks to the creators dont know most of their names : Magician, GenYus, Yoshimaru and the others for making such a great upgrade so we can play future games. And does anyone know where I can get those plugins: Categories v4 and Ultimate VSH they may come in handy. THANKS again !

Why are you screwed? You have ta85 board meaning you are lucky having a fully hackable board. You can try it.

Hey im on 5.00 m33-6…i have patched a lot of 5.55+ games like gran turismo and MUA 2. Im thinking of updating to 5.50 gen-d. If i do update, is it possible to play my patched games on 5.50 gen-d? Anyone can help me with this? Thnx

Yes i think. Because the 3rd version of the game decrypter by yoshihiro, the choices on the cirle button labels patch for 5.Xx users, so i think they uses the same method in patching for 5.5x and 5.00 games. Possibly im also wr0ng, that was just my theory. LOL

I’m a little confused. I’m unable to download PSP content on my PS3 and transfer it to my PSP. I’m unable to access the PlayStation Store on my PSP: “A system software update for the PSP system is required”. And I’m also unable to download themes and DLC off the PS Store from within Media Go.

I’ve forgotten to record the error messages … but are you guys enabling something that I’m missing? Or performing a step I’ve missed?

they need to add a memory stick speed up. Grand theft auto liberty city is slow on 5.50GenD however its fast on 5.00M33-6.

plus i just switch between two firmwares and even use two different VSH menus for each one without having to reinstall either VHS menus…

but they really need to make a SPEED MEMORY stick and i think that would convert everyone over from M3306

Always check recovery menu after installing this,UMDISO change it into m33 or anything that doesnt need a UMD.

5.50 gen b2 is better becaus:
5.50 gen b2 can play games online
5.50 gen d can’t play ANY games online
he connects and then poof time out when connecting
i have set my router and renew internet nothing works
i hate 5.50 gen-d
