Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-D coming tomorrow

is coming tomorrow according to .com’s post just made about 15 minutes ago. They have commented that all the bugs present in the cursed 5.50 GEN-C release have been fixed. And it can play firmware 5.55, 6.00 and 6.10 games work without any eboot patching with Game Encrypter needed. Stay tuned to us and we’ll have the download as soon as its released, around 8pm GMT +1 October 21st. Our alarm clock is set!

Whats in this new release ?

  • All features of 5.50GEN-B2 are available.
  • Compatibility with games requiring firmware 5.51 with no additional handling (now, you don’t need Game Decrypter)
  • Compatibility with most of games normally protected and refusing to be ran on a Custom Firmware (Full Metal Alchemist, Soul Calibur, etc). Yoshihiro has created a system to run them and he succeed to make this system more stable and it’s now compatible with all PSP, unlike the 5.50 GEN-C.
  • Possibility to connect at the Playstation Store via MEDIAGO, to retrieve game and goodies without having to install Fake USB or other complicated stuff.

Known bugs :

  • IR Shell can’t no longer launch ISOs, but a patch is ready and will be released as soon as possible
  • Video playback 480×272 in trouble but a fix is being studied
  • Option to accelerate the reading of MS is going to be ported to 5.50GEN
  • If you get a blackscreen when you start the installer, that’s because you are in 5.50 GEN-B(1) and not in 5.50 GEN-B2. So update to B2, and install the custom firmware 5.50 GEN-D.

        CXMB works fine for me on GEN-D. I just use the modded version for GEN-A

      Awesome, hopefully GEN-D is better. =D
      I just hope that all my plugins work with GEN-D. They should, I mean it’s still a 5.50 core, right? CXMB, Ultimate VSH Menu, CWCheat, Game Categories v7, and Hold+ are the ones I have. If they all work, I’m sold immediately. Hopefully this doesn’t semi-brick if you have a custom theme installed (via CXMB, I assume).

      Honestly if they can make it so plugin’s work properly, i’ll be more than happy to swtich to GEN i wish i had a spare PSP to test things on.. but im not that rich (i have NO job, and NO money). So if anyone could let me know that’d be cool too. but for now, i like 5.00 M33-6. and NO i am NOT a raving fanboy, i do like M33, but simply because i cant run certain things on GEN that i wanted.

        I forgot that the M33 version only works on PHAT as well. Forget what I said. But anyways all the homebrew I ran on M33 works fine on GEN.

        If Dark Alex releases a 6.xx M33 then I’m switching back for sure.

          i couldnt get the one emulator i had most of my games on to work (SNES) and a few random homebrew apps failed, all of them because a of failure to load prx’s

          homebrew I ran on M33 works fine on GEN.

          no i didn’t notice, since I never used GEN-B2.

          I went from 5.00M33-6 to 5.50GEN-A for about five minutes and upgraded to GEN-C

          ALso I just realized I read the comment he posted wrong. I read it as programs not plugins.

          Yeah there are plenty of plugins that aren’t compatible with GEN but that’s cause they were designed for M33

        So far, any plugin (besides CXMB) for M33 I’ve seen works for GEN without modification, so I don’t see where people think plugins are incompatible. And as for CXMB, one was made for GEN, so you can’t complain that plugins have compatibility issues.

          I couldnt get half of mine to work. Like i said, my emulator wouldnt run because plugins would fail, a few of my plugins from recovery menu didnt work, and about half my homebrew didnt work because “xxxxxxx.prx fail to intilize properly”. so yes, i can complain

          Were those custom plugins that failed to initialize properly, or system plugins? If they were system plugins, you definitely got a bad flash, as I’ve never had a single homebrew give me a prx fail to initialize properly error, and I use quite a few emulators and apps.

          if by custom plugins you mean things people made and put on here, then custom. im talking things like CWcheat and remotejoy lite,hell i couldnt even use hellcat’s recovery flasher to go back to M33 when i found out things wouldnt work, (lucky me there was another way). but yea, i’ve had a bunch of PRX fails with homebrew stuff, and i know im not the only one, i’ve read all over about GEN not running plugins properly, including a few times on this site.

          If you wouldn’t mind, could you tell me which plugins failed to load for which homebrew? I wanna see if I can re-create these load failures on my own PSP. CWCheat’s never failed me, and I don’t use RemoteJoy, so I wouldn’t mind figuring out where plugins fail.

          in all honesty, i cant remember any of the specific plugin’s cause i did it a while back, and wasnt taking notes (not really hardcore into the mod/CFW scene) so i dont remember any plugin names, i just remember the plugins like cwcheats wasnt working for me (that was probably just my psp though) and remote joy, and my snes and nes emulators, and i couldnt use hellcats recovery flasher to go back to 5.00 m33, other than that, i dont remember anything useful…

          My guess is that it could have been an error on your part, or on using an outdated version of a plugin. Either way, GEN’s plugin support is incredible nowadays; out of the plugins you mentioned, CWCheat has never failed me once.

        Which means it’s a 2000

      well they shouldnt of said it’ll work on all psp’s… kinda stupid of them to say that because people dont spend the time they should researching this stuff its only gonna work on psp 1k’s and 2k’s because you still need gen b-2 to run this and 1k’s and 2k’s are they only systems that can run gen b-2 so yea there ya go c’mon people use some common sence if you have a psp 3k you should of just stayed with 5.00 or 5.03 M33-6 or GEN-A both work great on mine

        Read the info above, it says you have to be on GEN-B2 to install GEN D, if it doesnt work on GEN B1 then I would assume it doesnt work straight from m33.

          Sorry misread your question, but still need to go to GEN B2 before going to GEN D.

      Well I have 2 psp’s one with cfw 5.00m33-6 and other one with cfwe 5.03m33-6 and honestly I believe cfwe 5.03m33-6 is better….it runs more smoothly and all the games work on it so there’s no fuss there….the only problem that people think is to load chickHEN every time but its so quick now that a few seconds is not that big of a deal anymore….so in essence I still prefer the TA-088v3

      I suspect you are running one of the GEN (s) right now, do you know if a plugin such as CWCheat will load up on GEN-D I am running 5.00m33 -6 and this is the only reason I have yet to head over to GEN. I have a 2k and a Go.

        are you serious? you do realize that it isnt the software thats an issue here, its the hardware, anything above 5.03 is screwed yea, but the thing is, its becauser there’s no way to put CFW on the psp because the motherboard wont let you. so you’re not going to see CFW for the 3k (besides the CFWE) until they figure out a way to put it ON there, stop telling the guys who give you free stuff to do it better :P

      Hyuk hyuk. All joking aside, it looks like i’m gonna have to stick to my PSP PHAT for a while longer if i wanna try out that MGS: Peace Walker demo. If all else fails and Peace Walker reaches with still no PSP3000 CFW solutions in site… i may go OFW on its ass.
      oh and btw, lets stop the hate pple. I don’t see why there’s so much anger towards PSP3000 questions. Yes, these questions have been answered many times before (from myself included), and yes it should be clear as day that there are no solutions other than ChickHEN at the moment for the 3000. But there’s no need to get nasty about it.
      In every community, there will be noobs. people who are just starting to get a grip on the terminology and how things work. Everyone starts from somewhere. if you don’t like the questions, just don’t answer.

      I had my fakeusb plugin disabled and could still access PSN via Mediago.

      can i turn ofw 6.1 back 2 cfw? i used to have cfw 5.00m33-6.then i accidentally upgraded it into ofw 6.1.do i have to wait till a new cfw 6.XX something or i can switch it back to cfw like normal?if i can..how?

        Since you came from a 5.00m33-6 custom firmware, that means that you have a fully hackable psp. Just use a pandora and a magic memstick to get your psp back to cfw. Hope this help you.

      if this wont work on my psp2000 TA-088v3, how am i supposed to play Gran Turismo for example? I’ve got a little problems with patching the EBOOT.BIN. I’ve downloaded the ISO file from a torrent, Maybe that’s the reason i cant patch it? Please i need a solution for playing Gran Turismo.       Everone says only 5.50gen is blocked off to the PSN store, i think there isn’t way to restore it. Are u guys sure that only 5.50gen(m33 too) is blocked off but not al of the 5.xx’s mabie you have to be in 6.0 to use. ??! duh

      Aw… A few months back I couldn’t wait for a 5.50 firmware and I bought Disgaea 2 PSP and upgraded it…
      Didn’t play on my psp that much now anyways and forgot what firmware that game came with.

      Wonder if this firmware can work on my psp3000….
