Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-C / XGen Installer for 5.50 GEN-C Released

GENyUS and PSPGEN have released Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-C. While nothing is new in this custom firmware from Sony. 5.50 GEN-C update is a substantial move forward. As it now lets users play back up UMD’s that require firmware 5.55 or 6.00 without patching the eboot.

So you can save yourself a few steps in playing 5.55+ games. No more extracting the games eboot, using game decrypter to patch the eboot. Then finally re-building the ISO. None of that is needed anymore, thanks to GENyUS. So delete that Game Decrypter v4 from your hard-drive as you don’t need it anymore. At least for firmware 5.55, 6.00 and 6.10 games.

Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-C Release notes:

This tool let you installing the 5.50 GEN-C Full directly without any patch
and on any psp so PSP fat and psp slim TA-79 > TA-88V2 from any custom firmware or kernel exploit .
for the firmware 5.50 put your 5.50 updater on root of your memory stick renamed 550.PBP .
you can use it to restore any official firmware too on slim and fat upto 6.10!!!!
you can use it to install install any TT’s firmware on fat psp upto 6.10!! you’ll need to put your eboot.pbp
on roots of your memory stick like that X:/EBOOT.PBP .
you can also converter your old DC8 magic memorystick in shiny 5.50GEN B-2.
just select in the XGEN option Install XGEN pandora and restart your psp dont forget
to put the 5.50 eboot.pbp updater on root of your ms renamed in 550.pbp.

to bypass the battery check please connect your AC cord.

Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-C issues, lock ups and games not running:

Ok so this isn’t PSPGen’s best release its full of bugs…. so expect an update soon. In the next few days I would think. Here are some tips to get around the ISO/ CSO lock ups and the game could not be started error (8002013C). Try using the M33 ISO driver, in the VSH menu or recovery menu set your UMD ISO mode to M33 driver. That should help. See the below video.

This is release is just loaded with bugs. I suggest you wait for 5.50 GEN-D, but if you like you can still download 5.50 GEN-C from the mirror above…But we warn you its buggy; No internet, CSO don’t work, games randomly crash and lock up your PSP, possible flash1 corruption and a semi bricks.

      Hi halekast69 what you need to do is to shut down your PSP, restart in recovery mode [holding R], and go into congifurations to change the ISO\CSO mount setting. Your games were not reading because the default setting for ISO mount is UMD required. ^^ Hope this helps!!

    Im using a psp 1000 (phat), no problems with installation.. and the only bug i have found is no interenet?..it keeps exchanging key info but wont coonnect… and all ym csos/ISos play fine.
    Im sure 5.50 gen c2 will be released soon with all bugs fixed.. GO TEAM GEN

    Whats the easiest way to downgrade back to 5.50 GEN-B from GEN-B I am also having problems with the wireless lan not working since upgrading or i just wait for the next fix?

    u can downgrade ur psp FW by usin Hell cats recovery flasher but only if u have a old Motherboard PSP

    like the 1000 series and 2000 series with old MOBO..!!

      not true i was the first person to figure this out. i tried on a psp 3000 i used chick hen then i used cfw enabler and i tried hellcats recovery flasher and it worked and my psp 3000 runs on 5.00 m33-6 i dont know if any one has tryed this :P but it works so i hope u guys try this! :)

      Man, your only way now it’s a pandora battery and MMS… only if you have a phat psp or a slim psp w/o TA-088v3 that is. So go buy one and then you will enjoy full cfw, can mess with flash0 without any worries, can f**k up your psp’s soft without any worries etc xD :D xD

    not worth it..i was playing(gen-c) diabolik chapter 3 and it just froze and when i switched back to 5.00m33 the game went fine..and some of my videos were unsupported!!.gen has still a lot of bugs to fix

    Yep all games run on GEN-C except Mini`s use m33 driver… perhaps its something to do with running patched games to work on GEN-B perhaps you should run the games without the patch? worked for me

    Expect Fixes for new CFW soon…

        gen-c bricked my psp and i cant get into recovery mode anything i can do without pandora im on a base in Afganistan and my pandora is back home

    I can’t install this for some reason….i put it on my ms as usual and when i click on install the custom firmware it says it can’t find 550.pbp on the root of my stick…i downloaded official firmware and it still won’t find it on my stick…

      You need to put the 550.PBP to the root of your memory stick . :)

    I can’t even go surfing online using interenet explorer anymore ;-( i have checked my firewall and password, all is correct. I didn’t had problems with my cfw GEN-B, i just only hadn’t access to psn. No i can’t even surf online!!!

    How do you even get the Icons to show up?? I have tried installing on both my Phat, and my slim (Yikes, I know, I read the disclaimer too late, but my psp slim is okay, pandorized back to B2.) I can’t get the menu to show up, the icons, forget about trying to run programs, I haven’t even been able to get this version to display, or run plugins. Will wait for a proper CFW build, until then, will stick with B2.

    um….. guys can i go from 3.52 m33 right to 5.50 GEN-C oh ye im at 3.52 m33 because wen i try going to 3.52 m33-2/3.52 m33-4 it shows up wit a black screen a doesnt do anythink then i turn my psp off it bricks i unbrick now wot am i ment to stay at 3.52 m33?!

      first try to go to recovery menu
      (R trigger when u turn on ur psp)
      You should update to 5.00 m33-4/6 first i suppose so ….

    I have encountered several errors with this new cfw GEN-C. and here’s the list:

    1) You can’t no longer surf on the internet browser anymore due to a bug
    2) When you play games suddenly everything freezes and system shuts down by itself.
    3) Sometimes the psp bricks when you start the device on, you must almost reset your flash0 from the recovery menu

    So i don’t advice people to install cfw GEN-C at all, keep your previous cfw and also games decrypter ver. 4
    For those who has already installed cfw GEN-C, you roll back to cfw GEN-B by installing this upate. After that install to cfw GEN-B2.

      This is all true….I hereby correct my words earlier too that it works perfectly fine on PSP 1000….It doesn’t… Like irani_84 mentioned most of my games freezes during play!! GEN-C NOT RECOMMENDED FOR ANY PSP~~~!!!!

    when i updated from 5.00m33-6 to gen-c..it got stuck from 25% and froze thus my psp got bricked..good thing i have my pandora..did it twice by the way and same thing happened..so i think its still best to stay in m33 and do the patching thingy..

    My personal suggestion here…..Stick with 5.00M33-6 ppl…not being favor to GEN nor M33…but at this moment 5.00M33-6 IS the best choice because it supports ALL games perfectly, and for new games just use the Game Decryptor v3 that supports M33~!!

    Plus, I’ve been using the GEN-B for the last few months, it works perfectly fine too, but the problem is the speed compared with M33-6…I had to go thru a great deal of trouble to get the MS speed up in GEN-B, and I didn’t even notice any speed difference than it already was…Now after I’ve tried [disappointed...] and downgraded from GEN-C to 5.00M33-6 the MS speed up option is already there and the point is that IT REALLY DOES WORK~!! Finally I can enjoy my games in a smooth pace~ :->

    Just wanna say thanks, I was M33 user for years and I installed this last night.

    1)All my games work fine with the M33 Driver.
    2)Internet browser works great.

    my slim is still bricked it comes on for a few seconds then it cuts off i tried to get into recovery mode but its a no go any suggestions

    I agree there are a few bugs… but, ive not got any problems….
    perhaps you need to format your MS Stick so the new format code from the CFW enables things to work better?.. thats what i did and all my games work with no crash … dont run any CXMB wont work. uninstall any plugins and format flash 1 in recovery menu…

    for your reference im using PSP2003… mobo V1

    Im sure GENteam will sort these things out, think of it as a BETA test so teamGen can gather info from our complaints on forums and fix..

    i have a psp 1001 and i have no problems with it all my games run perfect iso and cso alike, my minis work without a doubt the few hombrews i do have still run and all my psx eboots run the same as gen b. my internet browser works all my videos are still watchable and i installed this on 3 psp 1001 in my house and none of them are having problems

    You bricked my PSP, I had 5.5 B[full] ran great, now this crap, I couls have unlock, 5.5 + games manually now with this untested crap, all I get is the time and my psp shuts down, what are you people going to do to fix these problems you all caused by releasing this untested firmware.       they tested it, just not on every type of psp, with ever scenario. really, if you want to call someone an idiot, go look in the mirror, YOU were the one who MANUALLY put something not officially released by SONY (god forbid) onto your alredy not to stable PSP (i say not to stable because they are just very unstable to begin with let alone with CFW). YOU trusted someone to make something you could use, and they made it for you for FREE, and you trusted them, its your own fault you put it on your psps, you installed it, not even thinking there could be bad things that happened. and now then, i pose the question to you, what are YOU going to do, to fix the thing YOU broke. the balls in your court

    I’m running a PSP 1001 with this firmware and the only problem I’ve had was the semi-brick when you install with a personalized theme.

    Oh man, I can’t play my games anymore… I’ve installed this C-shit and back to Gen-B, but the psp still’s dont running my games, only emulators and pops. What can I do?? Thanks for any help you can provide me!
