Custom Firmware 5.03 released.

Update: Custom Firmware 5.03 Prometheus V2 has been released with increased compatibility. Download below.

creator of the Prometheus Module, has today released his own Custom Firmware for PSP-2000 TA088v3 + and models. The custom firmware requires you have a 5.03 official firmware on your PSP-2000 or in order to do the norm and run ChickHEN or MHUSpeed. This new firmware will run all the latest 6.20 games that have proven difficult in the past. This is without any special patching.

Custom Firmware 5.03 Prometheus Installation:

1. Install and run ChickHEN or MHUSpeed
2. Install
3. Extract the files in the Prometheus 5:03 to PSP / GAME
4. Start the installer 3.5 Prometheus
5. Install the 5.3 Prometheus by pressing X

Oh course we also have our All-in-One installers that will get you to 5.03 GEN-C, they include chickHEN, 5.03 GEN-C

Disclaimer: I haven’t tested this yet, since I no longer own a PSP-3000 or a PSP-2000 with a TA088v3. We take no responsibility if you somehow manage to brick your PSP.

      i saw this on youtube and it says(we, team BAV is now making our cfw 6.00 BAV-3. its only for psp 3000 users only. its now running beta now.we will release this 6.00 BAV-3 if its now complete.it has lot of bugs and problems yet.so wait until it is finished!) it looks like a new team is working on a new cfw!maybe,but we will see. but it is only for psp 3000 users only. so sorry for psp 2000, and 1000 users.lol

    well soo far i tryed this and god eater does not work at all i get a messege the game could not be started (8002013c) and it is a fresh iso or mabe it is cuz iam useing lmao loader in sted of chickhen and mhuspeed any ways it cant be because of that everything works on the lmao loader

    In the Chinese blog I think it says that it does work with 6.20 games, but have problems with other old games like tekken 6, naruto Accel 3 and some other games. Can someone confirm this? Thanks.

    So, hopefully people can just use this after they use my installer pack, just so I don’t have to update my AIO installers just to include one extra EBOOT. If people WANT me to update my installers, just say so and I will if I get some free time.

    I’m staying with 5.03 MHU coz its equivalent to 5.00 M33-6
    and is more stable than Gen or this one.

      Sorry for the ignorance, but what is 5.03 MHU? I searched this site, but could not find anything.

      I’m using 5.03 GEN-C (Final). Is it worth to switch to this?

        5.03 MHU is either MHUSpeed of CFWEnabler. GEN-C is better compatibility but not as stable.

        5.03 mhu is an outdated cfw based ( a clone of) 5.00 m33-6.
        if you are on gen-c DO NOT switch to 5.03 mhu. you are using a better (more game compatability) cfw already.

        5.03 mhu is the name of the cfw you get when you install cfw enabler 3.50 or 3,60 (i think).
        i would never go back to that.

        5.03 MHU was created by Xenogears and Becus25
        It uses the original 5.00 M33-6 Files that everybody knows they have hex edited to MHU.
        It is more stable, Supports PSX or PS1 Games without crashing.
        MS Speed feature works.
        Gen doesn’t have this feature and often crashes when the speed changes.
        Don’t worry about not reading 6.xx games, you can use (eboot patcher, eboot-exchange and prometheus module v0.4 , UMDGEN v4)

        Thanks for the replies. I think I’ll stay safe with GEN-C for a while.

        One more thing. I (finally) tried PSNLover yesterday, and successfully downloaded LBP demo. However the demo tells that my firmware is outdated.

        Will patching to Prometheus fix this? Or shall I try to learn how to use eboot patchers?

    Im new to this hacking thing and wonder what the hells wrong with my fucking psp every time i try to do somthing with an app it says”the game cannot be started the data is corrupt” even with the games i download of psnetwork. because of this it wont let my update to 5.03 can some one help me please?

      State the problem like:
      can you run ChickHen R2?
      do you have 5.03 firmware?
      what CFW you want?
      putting ISOs?
      accessing recovery menu?
      Vsh menu?
      Be clear!

      no it will not work on 6.20. but please dont upgrade your official firmware to anything higher than 6.20. looks like good things are gonna come your way if you are just patient enough to wait. and if you are not please dont complain in a few months about the next big latest greatest thing not working for you on ofw 6.30 or above.

    u sure can………………………..ok 1st i hv a psp3004(brite) 5.03 gen-c. so if u hv gen-c i can help u 2 walkthru………….i ve done my research …………….hv god eater that works(though i dont get jack of it as its in jap)……………….any thing u need i can help. EXCEPT OFCOURSE THIS COLOR CHAT DISP NAME IN COLOR.

      no not at all……………………….v3 n 3000 cant get permanent……………………….though it a suggestion that dont leap into it till u hv a game that doesent work……………..all those who abuse genc dont know that watever u click in vhs menu the one above green gets activated……its a minor flaw which i dont know why these ppl dint fix.

        Coz Gen reverse engineered M33 module.
        remember the recovery menu they said they don’t have the code to fix the options mixing up
        Gen isn’t stable
        Prometheus is based on GEN CFW.
        This still sucks!

        You have no idea what you are saying. The recovery menu bug only exist on psp 3000 and some specific models of PSP 2000. I have GEN-C installed on my PSP 2000 and the recovery menu is not mixed up. Ever wondered why MHU don’t have the same recovery menu like GEN? Because they can’t fix the recovery bug either..

        Yeah you were kinda right. True only the PSP 3000 has the Bug.
        But 5.03 MHU’s Modules are those of 5.00 M33-6 just hex edited.
        The recovery menu of gen is mixed up on the psp 3000 because the codes are different.
        5.03 MHU’s recovery is a 100% working, becus25 and xenogears only made the visualization better that is why it’s recovery menu is different.
        RockerZ6613 was right.

        My point is that Gen is Unstable it is better to use 5.03 MHU which is basically 5.00 M33 -6 just hex editied.

        5.03 MHU is more stable and the recovery menu does not have any bugz.
        The MHU recovery menu has a different layout therefore different code.
        GEN’s recovery menu is based on m33 that is originally designed to be accessible before the firmware loads and plus the new motherboard and different kernel keys does not support the unpatched recovery.prx from GEN.
        For the recovery menu to work on a psp 3000 it has to be patched.
        when we patch stuff we always have side effects or bugz.
        I never said that the TA-088v3 has the same problem, I simply generalize it to all the 3000 users.
        If they were stable My psp would never crash every time I plan to play a game with GEN’s temporary CFW.
        So how strong is your programming? C and C++ algorithm.
        Don’t argue with me when it comes to technical information.

        I doubt that you’re a programmer. If you’re a real programmer, you’ll know that 5.03 GEN and CFWEnabler (MHU) are basically the same thing (with exception to GEN-B and GEN-C). And some facts for you Mr. Pretender, 5.03 MHU is NOT a HEX edited M33-6.

    i mean, whenever we took out the battery, we need to apply the cfw 5.03 gen-c app again to activate the hack…
    so do we need to do the same for prometheus, or it’s a one time apply and it will stay?

    now i installed prometheus on my psp 2000 with r2 5.03 gen c cfw,it ran gr8 for a few hours.
    the psp got switched off as it ran outta battery. i told my brother to get the crack back up.he first installed gen c and said that a new screen appeared (like the one u get 4 prometheus) and he pressed x to continue.
    it said something abt flashing and overwriting a txt file.

    now i cant install prometheus at all.even if i run the program it still says ive got gen c(full).i tried installing gen b but even then it said i have gen c…
    any one know how i can undo this stupid mistake???

      Hmm i’m also wonderin about this, same probs.

      Showing GEN-C even after installing prometheus again.

      Mine also ran out of battery and no instead of having to press x to continue to install it flashing and looks like its still GEN-C.

      Plus side I think its still working as MGS PW is running fine even thought it still shows GEN-C.

      Hey just thought i’d let you know how to fix this issue, click to start the prometheus and hold the “L” bumper on the left of the console.

      It will give you then the original list of install options, once you install it will then show as “5.03 prometheus”

      after you install Gen-C, format your memory stick in system settings… MAKE SURE YOU BACK UP YOUR FILES IN UR PSP BEFOREHAND BEFORE DOING THIS. other it’ll get erased. next, after you format it, there should be an ISO folder. put the games in there and afterwards go dance naked in the streets. make sure a hot chick sees you.

      OR, seeing that you r a beginner to this, make an ISO folder in the root of ur PSP, or memory stick. then put the game sin there. then go out and dance naked in the street again. lol.

    ok i fixed the problem i was having with prometheus not installing
    all i did was uninstall gen c(holding L while running the program) ,reinstalled it and again installed prometheus.
    now every thing is just fine

    It works. I tried to run MGSPW, and then PRINCE OF PERSIA the forgotten sands. No need for D3 to D2 switch anymore. Plugins enabled and with KHBBS.

    Ok I just installed 5.03 Prometheus and so far so good. I can play all of my Homebrew games and Emulators. I can play MGS PeaceWalker with ease. Now I am going to try my PSX games and the rest of the most recent PSP Games outthere. I have a question for anyone who can answer it. In the “Gen Vsh Menu” What setting is the “USB Device” supposed to be set? I think that its supposed to be on the “Memory Stick” setting, but i am not sure can anyone confirm that for me. Thanks Appreciate it. :)

    Secondly, on the debate of which one is better 5.03 Gen-C(Full) or 5.03 MHU? In my opinion both programs can do what I want it to do, which is play old and new games as well as all emulators and homebrew. 5.03 Gen-C(full) is unstable but it has the “Sedna” plugin already embedded into it, which means that when you shutdown, the PSP doesn’t reset itself and you don’t have to reload all the hacks one by one(Which is the whole point of trying to hack the psp-3001 so it can be like the psp-1001 and 2001 models). 5.03 MHU is more stable, but it doesnt have the “sedna” plugin which means that when you shutdown, all your hacks reset(which is a pain the ass in my opinion), but don’t get me wrong like I said both programs are great, I just prefer Gen-C(Full) because i don’t like to reload my hacks one by one. If you like 5.03 MHU and like to deal with reloading hacks one by one, by all means keep doin what you are doing, because as I stated before both programs can play the games and I think that is the ultimate goal.

      I would like to make a correction. The sedna plugin is not embedded in 5.03 Gen-C what you would have to do is carry it over from Gen-B to Gen-C. This actually does work, but every once in a blue moon it would freeze, and guess that is what makes it unstable. Nonetheless, I still prefer Gen-C over MHU because you can still use the Sedna Plugin and with MHU you cannot.

    Well, as I was reading some few comments listed (Jhazky’s comments) are so aggressive at RockerZ6613,
    Maybe Jhazky needs to no more about these things when he tries to justify.
    So yeah 5.03 Prometheus hmm.
    I haven’t tested it coz I’m still at 5.03 GEN-A
    btw for the psp 3000 users at using 5.03 GEN-A (Full),
    I have found a way to fix the recovery menu bug( the mixed up categories).

    ok, got an update for you all, on 5.03 Prometheus. I can play all of my PSX games, which is great. Now Im gonna try my PSP games. So far so good. I can play MGS Peacewalker, but I cant play Prince of Persia, Naruto 3, God Eater……wonder what the problem might be????, other than that it is working pretty good. Im also gonna try putting CXMB so I can customize my themes. Will keep you all informed if come across some nasty bugs.

    Ok looks like most of the games I already have can be played still have to try all of them. Hmmmm, i just noticed that the last CXMB program is for Gen-A, anyone know if this might work on 5.03 Prometheus? Im afraid I might brick it.

      You’re screwed, bro. You can’t run Chicken if you’re running OFW that is above 5.03 (Correct me if I’m wrong) and yeah. You’re pretty much out of options until a CFW (or enabler) is released for 6.30.

      If your PSP is a 2000 (not v3) or a 1000, then get a pandora battery, downgrade back and then upgrade to a CFW. Don’t bother replying to this and telling me what motherboard you have or asking me how to check.

    Does anyone know how to play Parasite Eve 2 on PSP 3001? I know that you can play it with any older model because you can enable “popsloader” and unfortunately the psp 3001 does not allow you to load popsloader. Recommendations?

    my psp is 5.03 gen-c. i converted it into 5.03 prometheus once. but now i cant convert it into prometheus anymore . after running chikhen r2 when i select prometheus it convert into gen-c every time. plzzzz help me.

    Okay here’s what worked for me on my PSP 2000 T088v3. I tried long to get Metal Gear Solid started until this worked. I would just get a black screen when I started the game on GEN-B, GEN-C, Prometheus (all 5.03). So here’re the steps
    Uninstalled GEN-C (press L button while running GEN-C and choose uninstall)
    Reinstalled GEN-C
    Then installed 5.03 Prometheus
    Formatted my memory stick via the PSP
    Copied the game to the ISO folder
    Ran the game
    I can’t say it doesn’t freeze since I haven’t started playing it yet.

      Yes it is possible. What you would do is when you “ChickHen” or “MHUSpeedv3″ the next step would be is to run Gen-C right? Well, instead of running that just run Prometheus 5.03 and boom, you got prometheus working. I tried this on my PSP 3000 model and so far it’s working great.

    1st start the photo trick chickhen… then…
    do we need to start with the 5.03 gen-c 1st or can directly run the prometheus?
    need to keep both app; gen-c & prometheus? can i delete the gen-c if i wanna use the prometheus?

      You don’t have to remove the battery to do this. Just ChickHen or MHUSpeedv3 and then run Prometheus and it should be working.

    Hello everyone, just wanted to give you all an update on Prometheus 5.03. So far all of my emulators and games are working perfectly. The only thing that I haven’t tried is the Sedna Plugin to keep my psp hacked even when I turn it off and CXMB plugin to customize my themes. Personally, I am afraid to try it because of the possiblility of my psp bricking, but then again I don’t think anything would happen because they just plugins, but nonetheless I will give it try and see what happens. Of course I would like to play Parasite eve 2, but i can’t because my psp won’t allow popsloader to work, does anyone know of any progress on this game?
