hello guys, my PSP-3000 is currently using cfw 5.03 GEN-A (Full)..
i wanted to use the 5.03 GEN-C Final, but i don’t know how to switch my current cfw to 5.03 GEN-C Final.
can anyone teach me how?
May 14, 2010 at 2:09 am
it’s actually a little more simple than installing the 5.03 GEN-A.
just download it then past it in this directory “ms0:/PSP/GAME”(ms0 is going to be either you’re memory stick from you’re psp or you’re psp plugged in threw USB with a memory stick in the psp)
once you did that you can just fully turn you’re psp off so there is no CFW and just re-load HEN or speed3 and then go to GEN-C installer and it say’s what to do on the screen, and hit “X” to start the patch then hit “X” again and it reboots in GEN-C full.
a just in case if you want to or not…
just in case hold “R” when you click on the GEN-C installer and it makes sure it go’s into the actual screen and there you can also i believe press select to uninstall the firmware then it takes you back to the XMB and just go back in to install it.
i hope this helps you kurokage90

“BOBCAMO:

When you say ‘paste it in ‘ms0:/PSP/GAME’, do you mean that I don’t have to uninstall the cfw 5.03 GEN-A? Did you mean that I just have to download cfw 5.03 GEN-C, then paste it there without doing any other changes to my PSP?
May 9, 2010 at 5:59 pm
Hi!
noob question:
What will happen if you accidentally run twice the 5.03gen-c installer? Or the 5.03gen-c installer wont show up when you’re already in 5.03gen-c CFW?
same goes for ChickHen R2…
P.S. I dont a have psp so id like to know these hacks before i buy one.
May 14, 2010 at 2:17 am
well if i’m guess what your saying is…
will installing GEN-C again once its already loaded do any thing? not that i know of cause i’ve done it a few time’s not paying attention, and it didn’t do any thing but it’s not recommended to do because if it’s the psp3000 it’s really touchy so some things doing the wrong way will brick it and bye bye psp. now once you’ve loaded ChickHEN and try to load it again nothing happens, it just loads the images fine. but it’s another thing to try not to do for a just in case.
and the GEN-C installer does show up once it’s running GEN-C but it just does the same stuff as it would if you’re going to install it. but again that is not recommended to do once its all fine and running.
i hope this helps you bluesoup11
May 14, 2010 at 9:07 pm
this helps.. thank you. so much appreciated.. that’s all i want to know
May 16, 2010 at 3:31 am
@bluesoup11
well I’m glad it helped ya.
May 13, 2010 at 3:19 pm
i hacked my psp into the 5.03 speed 3 software and everything was fine, and then i ran the gen-c final installer and for about 10 seconds my psp is fine, and then it gets extremely laggy and the screen kinda shakes. i have a psp 300. ive hacked my psp b4 and it was fine for a while and all of a sudden this started happening when i had to re-hack it. ive tried formatting my memory stick and restoring the default settings but nothing has seemed to fix the problem
May 14, 2010 at 2:22 am
hmm… that sounds kinda F’ed up… but i think i did have something similar happen to me a while back. i think i just reformatted my MS and then put every thing new back on it not the same old stuff as was being used before and it seemed to be working fine. some files can get randomly corrupted so that’s why you have to do it when stuff stops working properly, it does it on almost every thing like most computer sh*t.
but if you’ve already done that, then i’m out of idea’s and i’m sorry i can’t help.
hope it helps ya FallenAngel10119
July 16, 2010 at 1:03 pm
ok press select and put your screen resolution on default
May 16, 2010 at 3:41 am
@kurokage90
yeah because I’ve been doing it that way since a little while ago, I’d make sure to uninstall every thing then just run chickHEN or speed3 and then just run the GEN-C installer, that’s all i usually do. but they did say in the past to basically start with installing GEN-A and go up for some reason, but i never noticed a difference, but the only thing i can say for right now is that ever since I’ve installed GEN-C my PSP-3000/PSP BRIGHT has had a bunch of bugs some how left in it, so if you want to you can install GEN-C, but I’ve been staying with GEN-B my self granted it’s not helping with getting rid of those bugs or glitches or what ever happened and I’m not sure if I’m the only one who experienced these thing’s either… but yeah i would say the only reason to basically install GEN-C would be because you’re wanting to play a couple of the newer PSP games other than that i would stay with either GEN-A or GEN-B for a just in case but it could very well just be me…
[TIP]
when you want to uninstall the CFW or make sure that you can get in the menu of the GEN you’re starting, hold the “R” button as soon as you click on it and it will pop it by force basically same thing for the MHU/CFWE.

*sigh….. in your system info, does it read “version 5.03″ or “5.03 GEN-C Final”?
cos if it’s “version 5.03″, that that means u have not installed custom firmware. version 5.03 is the official version of firmware for sony.

hi! its great to have gen for psp3000…i have a question…my current psp software is 5.03mhu…will it brick my psp if i update it to gen-c? can u give me a link for this tutorial? u can send me the steps to my email at silver_future21@yahoo.com and thx for the help
May 30, 2010 at 12:56 am
5.03 MHU – means CFW 3.60 which you got after ChickHEN R2 – if this is right, then it will not brick your PSP, what you need is to reset it back – I did it by restore default and unplug the battery – and load again the ChickHEN R2 and then load this CFW… mine was in MHU but then unstable so back drop to M33.
Hope that would help.

May 30, 2010 at 12:53 am
Hello, just want to share something before I forgot.
)
Here is my PSP model and motherboard type: TA-090v2 PSP-3006
OFW is 5.03
CFW is 5.03 ChickHEN R2
CFW is 5.03 GEN-C (Full) – FINALLY
First time when I run this CFW “EBOOT” file – my PSP seems directly skipped to “Now boot for your CFW 5.03 GEN-C (Full)” without any selection on “Press X to patch” etc…
What I did was after my PSP on ChickHEN R2, and then about to run this CFW 5.03 GEN-C (Full), I press the Left and keep pressing it while executing this CFW….
Hope that will help.
BR, Arc.
May 30, 2010 at 12:35 pm
actually, if you are doing what i think you are doing. it skips it because it is still somewhat installed, and to get it to “not” auto reboot into CFW, you have to hold i think the “R trigger” when opening a CFW EBOOT, then uninstall it and it then go’s back to the XMB, then re-open the CFW EBOOT to install it. other than that, yes it does automatically reboot into CFW and does not have to be uninstalled each time, but i do it any way’s for a… i guess “fresh install” sorta speak.
but i figured I’d let you know, i could be wrong on the part where it’s still some what installed, but it’s just my guess of why it does that.

Hey Team Gen, I just recently came across a problem and I was wondering if anyone can help. I have a PSP 3000 and after I run chickHen and run GEN-C(Full) I wait about ten seconds and it lags real bad and the screen starts to shake, does anyone know how to fix this. I myself am going to reformat my MS and re installing all the files I had before. If anyone has come across this problem I would appreciate feedback. Thanks.
June 5, 2010 at 1:10 pm
Ok, just a quick update. I reformatted all of my memory cards and I tried to re-install all the files. ChickHen Still Works Great with no problems. The problem is when I install Gen-C(full), when I activate the program it lags and the screen shakes. Could there be something wrong with the program or is it my PSP. Could someone let me know what could be the problem. Thanks.

Hi,
Just wanted to know how to enter into the recovery menu using PSP 2000 slim 5.03 gen-c (full)? Tried holding “r”, nothing happens, holding L+R+[], still nothing happens..
June 8, 2010 at 11:34 am
The recovery menu is on the GEN VSH Menu. When you press select the Gen Vsh Menu should pop up and once you see just scroll down to recovery menu and that should do it.
June 8, 2010 at 5:29 am
could somebody tell the difference between 5.03gen-c(full) and 5.03gen-c(final)?
and also which is much better 5.03 gen-c or 5.03 gen-a?
lastly, how do you unistall the CFW 5.03 gen-c?…thanks alot…
June 8, 2010 at 11:31 am
There is no difference, its the same thing. its just the final product that’s all. I my opinion 5.03 Gen-C is better because with Gen-A you need Sedna in order to keep it hacked when you turn it off, with Gen-C you don’t its already built in so when you shutdown and restart the system it stays hacked rather than turning on the programs one by one. To uninstall 5.03 Gen-C is pretty simple. When you run 5.03 Gen-C press and hold L Trigger, once you do that it will give you the option to uninstall and I believe its when you Press “SELECT” you can uninstall it.
June 8, 2010 at 11:41 am
I just tried something new. I loaded MHU Speed3 instead of chicken this time and I ran CFWEnabler 3.70 which turned my system into 5.03 MHU. Now, just so you all know My emulators work and MGS PeaceWalker(not the demo the actual game) works as well. I don’t know if anyone else knew that, I am pretty sure you all knew that, but just wanted to let everyone know. I wonder what would happen when I put plug-ins would it work, I will definately try it.
June 14, 2010 at 5:12 am
hi bluebomber, thanks for the info. maybe you could help me again. i was browsing this site and i saw some emulators programs. how does this emu works?. and whats kind of games i could play on this program?. and what is that MGS peacewalker that you were talking about?…sorry for asking you too many questions…
June 14, 2010 at 10:04 am
Well, first off there are many emulators that can play different games, for instance there is a NES emulator that plays only nintendo games, SNES emulator that plays super nintendo games, Sega Genesis Emulator that plays sega games and so on and so forth, you can find all of these emulators on this site. To install them just follow the instructions and you will be able to play them. MGS Peacewalker is the newest PSP game that just came out, its Metal Gear Solid Peacewalker.

GUYS I have my own problem as well….
When ever i play gundam vs gundam next plus, my psp freezes when i turn it back on from standby mode… is the patch thing not working anymore????
June 12, 2010 at 3:46 am
Few days ago, I bought a PSP 3000. The sellers told me, PSP 3000 can’t play ISO/CSO games, unless it’s hacked with Firmware. I asked the seller to help me to settle this. Everything was fine and all games ran normally. Yesterday, I didn’t know what happened. Suddenly, there was no game displayed on my PSP3000. Only one application, GEN C. I selected it, then it said Game is corrupted. But when I connected my PSP to PC to check the game, all games were there, but can’t be played.
What’s the problem? what should i do?
June 12, 2010 at 4:21 am
maybe ur chickhen is off. turn on ur chickhen

Hey, um, plz help me out, i used to run CFW 3.30 before and i decrypted a game which was not done properly.
after i ran the game my chickhen turned off, so i decided to check out this new cfw gen C.
The only problem is that my ChickHen is not booting, any suggestions, cuz i really wanna play new games. plz help, thanx.
June 12, 2010 at 4:43 am
PS, it gives a black screen sometimes, and sometimes it freezes.
June 12, 2010 at 12:10 pm
Instead of using try using SpeedV3 its an alternative to ChickHen, it runs faster and loads much better without freezing as much.

ey can some1 help me on my problem, i’ve successfully installed the 5.03 gen-c on my psp and i’ve tried to play dead or alive paradise on my psp. At first, i was happy to see that it didn’t prompt ” game couldn’t be started ” but when i select the start game on the menu of the game, it always stuck up on the ” now loading ” screen. Does gen-c can play Dead or Alive paradise?
Also, before i installed the gen-c on my psp, i made back up copy of my save data in pc and after i’ve successfully installed gen-c, i started to copy again the save data which i placed on my pc back to my psp but it still prompted ” data corrupted “.. is there a way to recover my save data?

June 24, 2010 at 2:54 am
Is it really necessary to uninstall GenB previous to install GenC??
June 24, 2010 at 3:08 am
from wat i heard, this build of GEN-C can fully support itself without gen-b, so unless you want two separate custom gen firmwares in ur PSP RAM, ur more than welcome to keep gen-b and install gen-c.
June 24, 2010 at 3:11 am
thanks mate…..stupid question: if I keep both can I choose on booting from B or C? Probably has no advantages but…just to know?!
June 24, 2010 at 5:38 am
well if u do keep both, the most convienient way possible right now to switch would be shutting off ur psp completly and rebooting it, then go to chickhen, then click the booter for the other custom firmware…
im using gen-c rihght now cos its able to help me play most games that gen-b cant… so if i were u id ditch gen b and get its upgrade, gen-c (hence the letters duh…)
lol
June 24, 2010 at 6:10 am
you are totally right, but what I don’t like in C is that we can’t shutdown from HW. Only with a plugin. From what I’be been reading…I’m I right?
June 28, 2010 at 4:18 am
ohhhh so thats wat u meant lol
no u cant completly shutdown your psp unless u want to run chickhen again to get to gen-c.
and the plugin ur mentioning about is most likely sedna, a plugin that puts ur psp into standby mode if u slide the power switch for too long (sliding it up too long shuts down ur psp completly.) Even if you have sedna, ur psp will completly shutdown if u run out of battery power or take the battery out of the psp.
June 28, 2010 at 4:22 am
I’m getting a little confused: In my case I want to shutdown each time I play. So, I can copy C files into PSP, Run chickhen, Run GenC and after playing just slide more than 3 sec it will shutdown!?
June 28, 2010 at 4:41 am
yep, ricardofer.
when you shutdown your psp complelty and turn it back on, you have to run chickhen again to get to gen-c. this is because the gen-c is stored in your RAM. chickhen disables the ability of the motherboard (of psp 300′s and certain psp 2000′s) checking its system, mkaing sure that it runs official sony firmware. so by completly shutting ur psp down, ur turning off the PSP’s connection to its RAM (where gen-C is) and shutting down chickhen’s ability. if you put ur psp to standby mode, the psp will shut of most of its functions, while maintaining a small connection to its RAM and motherboard (hence how a psp is able to run the game that you have just paused after putting it into standby mode, unlike a nintendo DS). The standby feature of the psp does drain battery, although less than 1% if you put it on standby for 12 hours. so if i were you, i’d rather put my psp into standby mode when i’m not playing.
….. lol that was a long lecture xP
June 24, 2010 at 9:19 am
shut down from HW? wat does HW mean?
srry i suck with acronyms
but yeah, from wat i read, shutdown from hw? u mean from the home menu or something? why would you want to cxompletly shutdown ur psp and reboot into official firmware?
June 28, 2010 at 3:24 am
Sorry mate…..Hardware. I meant shutdown using the right sliding button. It saves a lot of battery. If I play only once a week I would like to completely shutdown my PSP. That’s why I made tge comment on the shutdown using C

June 28, 2010 at 5:29 am
Hi mates…nope…there’s quite a lot of voltage available….shuting down my psp it’s just a question of “personal taste”. About the lecture, no worries, even that I already know that, but I’ve read somewhere that with C you can’t slide your PSP into shutdown. That’s why I’ve made the question!
