Confused about the hackability of your PSP?

Forum user, Draik has just updated his guide to PSP’s and the ability to hack them.

In the midst of excitement of the Gripshift exploit, many of you may be wondering if it even applies to your PSP. Maybe it can be hacked already.

Click ‘more’ for a peek and a link to the guide.

Here’s a bit of the guide:

All 1000 Series PSPs are hackable to date.
To some, there are other methods than just using a Pandora & an MMS.

On the other hand, 2000 Series are a little complicated. There are old units, new units, & Really new units. The old ones, containing a motherboard before the TA-088v3, and are all hackable. While the new ones that have the TA-088v3 Motherboards are unhackable. Finally, the Really new ones have a TA-090v1 Motherboard, which is hackable. There are 6 different ways to tell whether that 2000 series PSP is hackable or not, but we’ll get to that later on.

Finally, the 3000 series PSPs. All of those have the TA-090v2 Motherboard, all of which are unhackable as well.
Though, there is hope for the PSP 3000 series. According to the site, an error that might lead to a complete hack has been found. This error has been used to install “Hello World” on the PSP so far. Let’s hope someone utilizes it completely to install Custom Firmware.   …

So, what? He claims that PSP-2000s with TA88v3 won’t ever be hacked? I’m pretty certain that’s not true. They use the same security methods as the PSP-3000.

I don’t see anywhere in the guide where he mentions the PSP’s won’t ever be hacked.

The guide is looking at PSP’s right now, there is a date at the top of the post to which the information is relevant to.

There is a way to hack it now, but not hack it & install Custom Firmware. Simply hack it & play Pong or Hello World.

Again, you cannot install Custom Firmware on it yet.

If your PSP has Custom Firmware installed, try using “Xplora 1.8″ to check the firmware.
If it’s not hacked, use the guide to figure out whether it’s hackable or not, then hack it if it is.

guys be cool, remember in every problem there is always a solution for that….those who got v3 mother boards..hoah there is still hope….CHANGE the mother boards to hackable ones..i mean got to your local psp repair shops ask for junkie boards for slim and install firmware right away. for psp 3000, i saw one working but using the slims lcd…its not a good hack yet at least they are trying. for now, never buy 3000 yet unless the blog says its HACKABLE folks…good day
