User opinion: PSP Go as it should have been? Two analog thumb joysticks
With the leaked pictures of Sony’s new PSP Go out in the public, we decided to take a closer look at the images released. And what we have gathered from these images. Reading the comment’s made by users it seems where not all happy and excited about Sony’s PSP Go. The above image is a photo shop version of what a lot of PSP users want, a second analog thumb stick. Instead of a second stick we have the start and select buttons… I guess its too late now for Sony to change that. The PSP Go units are no doubt in production now.

PSP Go gets a proprietary port. I smell a Iphone style docks...
And what’s this? Looking at the underside of the PSP Go we find a headphone / mic socket on the left and to the right a new proprietary port. Perhaps an all-in-one solution for TV-Out, AC/DC Power charging and a USB cable connection to that 16GB of internal flash memory. Will it come with a dock for charging and usb connection? Sony’s taking a spin on the Iphone dock, but PSP style.

PSP Go: Rear view: To the left, the Memory Stick Pro Duo slot. Internal Battery?
The rear of the PSP Go. First thing you note is there is no UMD drive, thats done in place of Playstation Network downloads instead of UMD’s. Also the back plate is screwed in place firmly, so with that the PSP Go will feature a internal battery. We no nothing about the spec of this battery, if it will have a higher capacity or not. If Sony want to get something write, the PSP Go must have improved battery life. That will give it a big plus in the eye of PSP gamers.
Sony will not be pulling production of the PSP-3000, instead you can choose from the two. Either the PSP Go, focused on being smaller, lighter and with a healthy 16GB of flash memory. Or the Standard format PSP-3000. We’ll have more on the PSP Go once further info is released from E3 this week.

I actually like the design. its the fact that its umdless is what I find unattractive.
June 1, 2009 at 10:38 am
I think I would need to see it in personal and have a go. I like the 16GB of flash, but the slide form factor – looks crampt?
June 1, 2009 at 6:06 pm
One thing that would really be a plus is if they actually improved the wifi speed. I think it’s going to be the same slow, capped 40 kb/s (I believe that is the current speed, correct me if I’m wrong). Other than that, this is really not that exciting. I really hope that people will still be able to buy UMDs. I have a slow internet connection at home and the PSP internet is way slower, even than that, so downloading games or almost uncompressed movies from the Playstation store is not a winning play!

I think this new PSP-GO is very bad. It looks like shit, it has no UMD-drive, it has an internal battery and I don´t think you can play with it very well!!!
I know: most think UMDs are fuckin bullshit, but you can easily copy an UMD and play the BackUp (download BackUps/ISOs illegal from the internet). And when this new PSP is out, will SONY stop creating UMDs, or what?!!!
It would be great if the battery have more power than the normal battery of the early PSP models but if it´s internal, you aren´t able to create Pandora´s Battery.
So at least: this new PSP type is not hackable 4ever
So I would stay by the normal PSP type (Fat, Slim, Brite)!

if this doesn’t actually have umds, we people here in the philippines wont be able to use it cuz there is no psn here, if there was, then that’s good

Its not being to made to replacethe 3000, it will still be sold. so so will umds.

June 1, 2009 at 2:43 pm
i’ll stick to the original psps.. this one looks like a fake mp3 player sold by chinese outlets.. just an opinion. psp 3ks will be hacked iso wise in its due time..

well how will you charge the psp go through the ps3 ..??
June 2, 2009 at 1:37 am
well they’ll just have to make a new accessory … sold separately of course
June 1, 2009 at 5:31 pm
If the proprietary port does infact allow us to connect to the internal 16GB of flash memory, then perhaps we could load games we have bought and downloaded to our PCs onto the PSP Go. Although to prevent piracy Sony would have to use DRM or some other unpopular concept.
June 1, 2009 at 6:30 pm
No UMD. So it will be support ISO ??? ,does it mean….
(no problem for CFW
) ???
June 2, 2009 at 1:38 am

June 1, 2009 at 7:28 pm
What i would Really like for improvement is the Wireless connectivity…In the current PSP – 2004 which i own..it takes around 45 mins for facebook to load and the connectivity sucks!!! A 3G or a 3.5G connectivity option for the new PSP’s will be really appreciated!
June 1, 2009 at 8:05 pm
this looks like another attempt to stop piracy to me
June 1, 2009 at 9:46 pm
wat how come this picture has dual analog im starting to think its a hoax
June 1, 2009 at 11:12 pm
the first picture is a fake. It’s just to show what gamers would like it to have. the real psp go has the start and select buttons in place of the second anolog stick
June 1, 2009 at 10:30 pm
This one will suck. It will get stolen, dropped easily( i think).. ppl will barely buy games of ps network.. and it might be unhackable.
June 1, 2009 at 11:05 pm
Well im a bit confused because the picture shows two analog sticks, but this official one shows 1 analog check it out
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8076573.stm
notice the difference. BBC is official, so they never tell lies
June 2, 2009 at 1:03 am
Hey read below the picture and read the article. Its an artists photo shop attempt of what it should have been..
June 2, 2009 at 1:33 am
What, no access to the battery?
Its as if they don’t trust us!! How offensive!! what would we possibly do with the battery?!
hehe =]
June 2, 2009 at 1:49 am
that thing is ugly as hell. SONY FAIL
June 2, 2009 at 2:17 am
too bad for sony. they didnt made the dual analog sticks. with dual analog sticks, some PS3 games can be ported or made for the PSP.
June 2, 2009 at 2:49 am
this is so gonna to stop piracy, simply due to the fact that by downloading a game to a certain psp. it wont work on any other system other than that one. kinda like the demos. i downloaded my demos via my ps3 and they will never work when chickhen is loaded since its changes the info registered on the psp.
June 2, 2009 at 2:49 am
unless of course some one hacks it. but i think this is going to be alot harder.
June 2, 2009 at 3:40 am

No UMD????? Where can we buy games!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i am from philippines!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
June 2, 2009 at 12:53 pm
I’d rather buy a phone. And a 16 GB microSD card. And stick to my PSP-3000. The smaller screen is a real killer.
June 2, 2009 at 3:22 pm
It looks good. But no way to buy for it.
June 2, 2009 at 6:28 pm
I think both of the two topics PSP Go Confirmed! Internal 16GB Flash Memory, No UMD and Closer look at the PSP Go. Is it all Go?
has the different images, look on its analog, one topic has a single analog and the other topic picture has two analog,
I think one of it is fake or both are fake
June 9, 2009 at 4:17 am
yeh the one with the two analog was there ps2psp
June 2, 2009 at 9:18 pm
i wont buy it ill wait longer for a better one
June 2, 2009 at 11:51 pm
it will probably be more expensive…around $250-$300. and for some reason i don’t think its going to have a tv output
June 3, 2009 at 3:03 am
Just watching sonys e3 press confrence right now, it will be $250.00. What a fail when you can get a 3000 that has a larger screen, comes with a game for only $200.00. It’s as if all of these bad decisions Sony made with the PSP Go are purpousefull, and trying to kill off the PSP due to piracy.
June 3, 2009 at 6:43 am
The PSP Go Comes with an Internal 16gb memory, I dunno how much that cost in US Dollars. But it you were to purchase a new PSP3000 plus a 16gb Memory stick Pro Duo togther, it’ll probably be about the equivilent price of a PSP Go.
June 3, 2009 at 3:02 am
Everyone proabably already knows by now…
kool looks like PSP Go will use M2 Memory stick, not Memory Stick Pro Duo… not sure about the other features lol.
June 5, 2009 at 12:21 am
The screen is smaller for the picture to be cropped. which means they want the image to be alot lighter and more HD than the 3000 and below. and the picture is the actual thing, the only thing leaked it two analogs……it only has one
June 5, 2009 at 12:24 am
and technically, the reason its not 150-200$ is because of the built in 16gb memory, which is about 50-100$ and this would be good for cfw people because of the ChickHen custom firmware enabler……and besides, just because its an internel battery, doesnt mean you cant take it out, just look at how the battery in the DS is, its internel but you can still take it out
