ChickHEN Mod - Load ChickHEN R2 smoother.

PSP Developer m0skit0 has release a mod for ChickHEN R2 that will enable ChickHEN to load much smoother. This will help users that are having trouble to getting chickHEN to load up after many attempts. This should reduce the amount of attempts needed to get it to load up.

To install the program:

1. Power on the PSP
2. Connect to the PC via USB.
3. Open the folder of the PSP and copy the download (in the root of the MS)
4. Decompress ChickHEN Mod.zip. Answer “Yes” to all replacements.
5. Now we do a safe extraction of the PSP and switch to PSP now
6. Press O to cancel USB connection
7. Go to Photos, down to Memory Stick and press X
8. Wait for the egg image to load in the ChickHEN Mod square.
9. When it’s loaded press X (no need for timing here)
10. DO NOTHING MORE, JUST WAIT

If you are successful, you’ll see the green light flashing and it will reboot in the ChickHEN environment. After that, you can now enable the CFW Enabler v1.0. If it doesn’t work, just reset your PSP and go back to step 7.

sir.. i cant make it work.. whats the problem? i have a PSP Slim 2000.. TA-088v3.. 4.01 out of the box.. But now its 5.03.. I followed everything you instructed but its still doesn’t work..

Finaly its working!!
here is the procedure i did:
-Format ms using PSP Format MS > System Settings
-Copy ChickHen Mod to the root of ms
-Extract it there if asked to merge then click yes
-Turn off UMD Auto Start and UMD Cash > System Settings
-Change System Language to English > System Settings
-Change Character Set to US(437) > System Settings
-Remove MS and turn off PSP
-Remove Battery and wait some time
-Now put back MS and turn PSP on
-Go to the Photo , scroll down to MS and press X
-Wait till the Box loads the Egg pic then press X
-Scroll down to the end of the list

here u go the PSP restart directly with ChickHen loaded
ahhh one more thing .. i was in the pathroom shitting it may make a difference:D

This mod sucks man, it is supposed to reduce the no. of attempts but, it has frustratingly increased the no. of trys, im doing this from morning, i think previous ‘h.bin’ file was better

  no i dont think so..only works on 5.03 OFW….i got mine on 4.21 so i updated to 5.03 and chickhen worked on 2 tries…..

  Actualy my psp was 4.01 TA-088v3+ and i have 2 psp (green and blue) they both worked perfectly
  the trick is to remove the battery and wait some time before you try
  
  just look for my previos post and do the same and it will work

Hi. I have a psp 2003 date code 7C (hackable) OFW 5.00. will this thing work for me. i don wanna try it and end up bricking it or something. if it is safe ill try it. hope someone can help me. Thanx in advance

  i think in your case the eLoader is much more stable and you dont have to run the same ChickHen procedure
  
  just look for how to make a pandora battry and a Magic Memory Stick or search for Pandora Premade package .. gl

WHY!!!!!

Why can’t other people understand!!! This one is easier to pull off than the original ChickHEN R2!
Here’s how i do it:

1 extract folder ChickHEN mod to :ms0\psp\photo. It should look like this:
example: J:\psp\photo\chickhen mod – where J: = Memory stick location
1.1 place file H.BIN to root folder. It should look like this:
example: J:\h.bin – where J: memory stick location
2 exit USB mode
3 back in XMB, go to your photos and access the chickhen mod folder
4 when the 1st egg appears, immediately move your cursor to the 2nd egg
5 when the 2nd egg appears, immediately move your cursor to the 3rd egg
6 repeat process until you reach slim mod tiff file
7 this should send your psp flashing green

I am using a TA088V3 and this technique never failed me, even in the original ChickHEN R2.

And to all PSP3000 users, don’t you think it’s RUDE to DEMAND on our great programmers?
They also have lives outside of this. and they do not work for profit (which you should be thankful) and for
sure you won’t give back anything after you get the hacking programs.

PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE. we all have waited far and long. With the PSPGO released, would it hurt to wait for a little more while?

It’s kinda weird. I have no problems at making the Hen work, I even make it work even with one try by following the instructions. I just noticed that when I put too many pictures or folder into the PICTURE folder aside from the ChickHen, It won’t work (or maybe difficult to work). I don’t know if it’s just me. When I deleted other pictures and only leave two folders (Chickhen, the other one, *cough), It worked again. Also, this mod, I used it and it worked but I can’t view the pictures in my memory stick. It says there are no files even though there is. I know there is i’m not stupid. Try it. Does it occur to you too? Anyway, thank you m0skit0 and Dark_Alex. Still hopin’ for, you know…. (PSP3k). Always checkin’ this site almost every hour.

Hey guys, thanks my god – ChickHEN R2,
Yesterday I just got ChickHEN R2 and trying 30 times for starting the Chick mode, and it never worked!
But I just got it work now, I have following different instructions on the forums, and I find a better to work is to switch over the UMD settings (UMD Autostart, and UMD Cache) and the USB Setting as well !!! So, I suppose that for some version of PSP, if you never got it work for one settings, you should try to always changing the settings before going to the TIFF image.

Actually, yesterday, I just got my PSP 3006 (HK version) trade off for a old second PSP 2002 (Australia ver),
it seems that PSP is not so popular in Australia and it sell very low price for the second-hands ($160 ~ $180 for any kind of PSPs, and all the same price)!!
When I just got so tired about my lastest PSP 3006 and have been waiting for 8 months without any crack available, then I find this PSP 2000 Slim in Melbourne.

This Chicken R2 is not loading on my PSP.

I also tried mod for ChickHEN R2, but no success.

Also tried using 3 jpg images, again no sucess.

My PSP freezes for a while say 15-20 sec and then shuts OFF. No Green or Flashy screen. Tried about 6-7 times.

Also had disabled UMD Cache & Auto Detect options.

Hi Guys, why can someone come up with a true easy way to get ChickHenR2 to run? Don’t get me wrong I do appreciate what has been done so far but I really think they need to find a way to easy boot ChickHen R2. Its rel frustrating.

  why no can find it couse i think we are not developing or doing a bug fixing the PSP!! its only finding the best work around process so if you find better solution it will be very good to share here

now i found that, if we delete this file “egghunt.bin” away in the root, my success rate become 100% since then. u wanna try ur luck ?

few things to prepare:
- prepare 8 egg file(a-h), which some ppl recommend it
- u’d better try sleep ur psp b4 try to egg
- make sure there is no “egghunt.bin” file in the root
- go in egg folder and scroll egg by egg until the last file tiff…

it should work.

Try resetting default settings in the system settings and following the guides concerning the system settings options (Turn off the UMD’s, etc.). It worked for me on the second attempt (I added additional chickhen pictures and erased egghunt.bin which didn’t seem to do much) just as I scrolled down to the slim.tff (I scrolled down egg by egg). Hope this helps and I’m never turning off the psp again -.- Learned my lesson after 30 failed attempts

Hi!

I read somewhere in the comments, that the presence of other pictures int the “PHOTO” folder might disturb the booting of ChickHEN. I had several hundreds of pictures, and ChickHEN booted for every 20th or 30th attempt. I erased all of them, and let only a few. It helped! Now ChickHEN boots for the 2nd, or the 1st attemt. Worth a try!

I found an another thing, that helps. Maybe it’s just a coinsidence.
When I enter the folder containing the images, I push the “down” arrow, and wait till the last egg image loads. In the very moment, when the machine tries to reach the last – tiff – image, I immediatelly push the “up” button, to return to the previous – egg – image. It helps.

hey guys… did any of you already experienced this… I tried to get my unit into chickHEN… it succesfully loaded its environment then after few hours… it crashes the HEN and I have to do this repeatedly each time my HEN corrupts to my system… now when I am doing the procedure to HEN.. it would’t restart any longer, it’ll just turned off… I wonder what happened… I have PSP 2004

more success rate on psp3000

previously i told u guys that~~~

now i want to add more method into my egg hunt~~~
delete this file “egghunt.bin” away in the root, my success rate become 100% since then. u wanna try ur luck ?
use 8 eggs img with tiff
create 4 egg folder with a b c d and one tiff folder.
lastly, standby ur psp b4 u egg hunt.

few things to prepare:

- u’d better try sleep ur psp b4 try to egg
- make sure there is no “egghunt.bin” file in the root

it should work.

Honestly, I got it to load twice within 5 tries in the beginning (I only turned off the UMDs and auto-settings to English at that point). After that, everything went down the crap hole (wouldn’t load at all). I’m guessing the first attempts are always the better ones but there are ways to make it load once the success rate becomes almost like 0. I don’t know about other people but now (after I tweaked around with it), just as long as I scroll down the eggs correctly with the right timing, it loads so…. IT WORKS just as long as you’re willing to put in some research (browse the forums, hell just look through the comments and there should be enough info.) and tweak around with it for a while.

  btw, I have a PSP-2006, TA 88v mother board and it took me like 4 hours of tweaking to get it to load every single time so don’t whine if it doesn’t load because in the end you will NEED to mess around with it.

I got a little problem; My PSP came with the version 5.31 or something. All i know its that it came with a version a little higher. Now the version is at 5.51. I still followed the steps up until step 7, cause when i check my PSP and then Photos, it appears empty, yet i check my computer and it appears all the files i extracted, directly 2 the MP_ROOT. I need help. PLZ Comment Back.

  I have been somewhat annoyed with having to reset my settings everytime I load ChickHEN, but not anymore.
  I have downloaded this version and it still doesnt work first or second go, in fact i did not keep trying after the third because i wanted to load first time every time.
  I have also tried other people’s working methods but they did not work either.
  However after trying and testing kinggucci’s method a few times i believe i have found the key trick.
  THE TRICK IS to load slim_mod.tiff at the same time as the ((triangle) options) display is disappearing.
  
  The way i get this to work is to order my ChickHEN mod folder like this (1 is loaded first and 8 is loaded last):
  1. a .jpg (187kb).
  2. a .jpg (662kb).
  3. a .jpg (629kb).
  4. ChickHENa.gif.
  5. ChickHENb.gif.
  6. ChickHENc.gif.
  7. ChickHENd.gif.
  8. slim_mod.tiff.
  
  With that as my order I do not need any specific settings changed and I am using a custom theme.
  The steps I take are:
  1. Go to photo and enter memory stick.
  2. press X before or after the ChickHEN mod square loads, it does not matter when.
  3. THE MOST IMPORTANT PART. Just as the SECOND .jpg is about to load scroll down to the bottom (you should not actually see it load).
  4. the ((triangle) options) will appear while you are at the bottom of the list and will start disappearing just as slim_mod loads.
  5. It should crash to a green screen, which is actually a good thing.
  6. it reboots ITSELF into ChickHEN (if it doesn’t, turn it back on and repeat all steps).
  
  This takes practice to get right but once the timing is correct it will work almost every time for me when other methods wouldn’t.
  It also worked by stepping down the list one after the other at one point until i renamed an image.
  Adding or removing images and just trying heaps of different ways may also work.
  I use a psp 3000 with firmware 5.03 (required) and the ChickHEN mod downloaded from this page.
