JPCSP v0.3 Revision 1246 Changelog:

Rev1246: First draft of GE viewport interpretation. Not yet fully functional: this feature has to be enabled in VideoEngine.useViewport to not break current games. Code review is welcome!
Rev1245: Allow the configuration of the normal values in 3D Studio.
Rev1244: Fixed lighting for directional light (no spot exponent and cutoff).
Rev1243: Add more randomness to Texture hashCode for TextureCache (was causing problems when switching textures in 3D Studio)
Rev1242: Lighting was not always completely disabled in 2D (spotted by tests of BlackDaemon using 3D Studio)
Rev1241: Refactoring of sceKernelLoadModuleByID with sceKernelLoadModule: also allows loading of HLE modules.
Rev1240: Reorganized hardware information(currently Battery and MemoryStick) in own classes. Implemented Battery Drain (reduces Battery power by 1% every 3 minutes).
Rev1239: Fixed GE Context saving problem introduced in r1236
Rev1238: 2D mode is not affected by FOG. Reverted r1236 changes from CLEAR command for colorα mask.
Rev1237: Added tests for PMSKC/PMSKA in 3D Studio.

Here’s something to keep you all busy while you wait for 5.50 GEN-D,as Zack has released SNES9X Euphoria Release 2.1. This build further improves the Super Famicom / Super Nintendo emulator with a large amount of bugs fixed. Plus further speed improvements. I’ll say this is now the best SNES Emulator there is. Good work Zack and keep at it!

SNES9X Euphoria R2.1 Changelog:

[+] Bug where you couldn’t have more than 200 roms in the ROMS folder or the emulator would crash is now fixed. (I tested with 800 roms in there)

[+] Bug where the emulator would freeze then hard-power-off your PSP after trying to load more than 3 roms is now fixed. (I tried loading rom after rom at least 12 times with no issues)

[+] Bug where you couldn’t return to the menu after running a game is now fixed. (thank god lol)

[+] Bug where emulator would hard-power-off PSP when exiting rather than return to the Xmb is now fixed (both in file menu and main menu)

[+] Bug where the emulator wouldn’t start on Gen firmware fixed (tested by myself on 5.50GenC and Cmbeke on 5.50GenB)

[+] Possible minor speedups from code cleanup.

[+] Removed the intro screen for now. (will be configurable in the next build)

[+] Added the latest version of the snesadvance.dat file (Adds more speedhacks)

To get the best performance use the following settings:

Render : PSP Accelerated
Frameskip : 3 (frameskip @ 1 seems to be sufficient for most games to play at 60fps)

Ok so we had the snes9xTYL MECM 091011-4 released just over a week ago. But Zack’s modded Snes9xTYL R1 build is the fastest yet. Running most games at a cool 55-60fps (PAL), thats with 3 frame skip and 4:3 ratio zoomed as the setting. I can confirm that testing Donkey Kong Country running at a smooth 60fps (see below video) and FF4 that its indeed the fastest SNES emulator out there.

Before FF4 would slow down somewhat in the fight sequences, well not now. Check out for yourself.

SNES9X Euphoria R1 Release text:

The only game I have tested with my version is Kirby Super Star, which I know had terrible FPS with other Snes9X releases (usually < 30Fps)

With my build, using the following settings, Kirby Super Star runs @ a minimum of 44Fps and a max of 60fps with the usual fps being 50fps.

Settings :

Renderer : PSP Accelerated
FrameSkip : 3

This does not generate a jerky experience, it finally feels playable

Other testing :

Donkey Kong Country : Same settings as above :
Min FPS : 58
Max FPS : 60

The speedups should be global, every game should be a lot faster now

Future :

I plan on improving speed more, improving stability and applying the changes from Snes9X1.51 to Snes9X euphoria also (which is running off the 1.42 code base)

[!]Reverted most of the changes from Revs 305, 316, and 318 (Fixes a couple crashes, speed regressions, and Mario Head stuttering bug )
[+]Hash every third line of textures for updating (Faster Texture Update)
[+]Re-added Dynarec Loop Optimization (Works in as many titles as it used to, but still causes problems/freezes in some)
[+]Added Frame Skip 99 to debug build for testing
[+]Added more settings to Texture Update
[~]More comments will only show in Debug builds (Some messages still remain)

Notes: GoldenEye No longer freezes on Runway or other levels, Mario Head no longer stutters without DD enabled. All speed regressions since 300 should be fixed now. Some reverted changes will be restored in future revs as speed/stability issues are worked out. This is a large commit and may have a few minor issues.

DaedalusX64 Alpha Revision 430 Changelog:

[-] Debug console should not be initialized in Release mode – Salvy

[-] Reverted Change to GBI2_ModifyVtx from Rev 416 (Fixes a couple titles that broke) – Salvy

[-] Removed CFW 3.71 support (We require higher firmware anyway, fixes a few warnings)

[~] Properly defined the FlatShadeDisabled hack and Added to options on Debug Build

[!] Reduced Slim RAM cache for texels to same size as Phat (Large Cache is no longer needed and doesn’t improve performance and can be used elsewhere)

[!] Reduce Texel Cache size after large Texel ( >64K ) is used. Fixes crash on Phat (Tetrisphere goes in game on Phat and SSV doesn’t crash when using select.)

[-] Reduced intrafont memory usage (Used low mem font options)

[~] Changed default deadzone to 28 to work better with “Well loved” PSPs

[~] Cleaned-up more compiler warnings
