Famitsu.com have discovered some minor changes in the new PSP-3000 models firmware. Although nothing to major its interesting to note.
Top: 2000; Bottom: 3000
The PSP-3000 has a setting for “Color Space” under the system settings section of the XMB. This can be switched between Wide and Normal. Wide exploits the full color depth of the revised hardware, while Normal returns you back to PSP-2000 level color.

Good news everyone… (imagine Prof. Farnsworth voice)
On a PlayStation.Blog post by John Koller, it is noted that the PSP-3000 battery life isn’t going to suffer like previously mentioned.

I’d like to make a correction and clarify that the new PSP will have equivalent battery life to the current PSP, about 4 to 6 hours for games and about 4 to 5 hours for UMD videos. While the enhanced screen of the new PSP draws a little more power, our engineers in Japan worked to reduce the power consumption of the overall system including its components, so you won’t have to worry about losing any time when enjoying the more vibrant visuals displayed with the new PSP.

According to SCE America marketing manager John Koller the battery life of a PSP-3000 will be decreased by 20-30 minutes. Why? Well that prettier LCD screen is at the cost of battery life. Whats the beat that 20-30 minutes is on the Dimmest setting? I wonder if it would be 20-30 minutes on full bright Vs a PSP-2000 set on full bright.
Recovery Flasher V1.30
Hellcat has released an update to Recovery Flasher, with this application you can fully re-installing 3.71 or 4.01 M33 firmware without Pandora.
Also a new feature in this version is the ability to backup flash content for restoration purposes on the same PSP which could be used on another PSP as long as it is the same type of PSP.

Japanese gaming blog, Famitsu has gotten their hands on the PSP-3000 and has compared the two for us.
One of the most recognised differences is the screen as you can see in the shot below:
The colours are supposedly more vibrant and the new screen contains less glare with reduced ghosting.

PSP-3000: New LCD with twice the refresh rate.
New info is out that the PSP-3000 will feature an LCD screen with a response time that will be twice as fast as the current PSP models. Which means less ghosting and color bleeding. It will also have an LCD five times the current contrast ratio and double the color gamut.
This is all nice, but is it worth throwing your old PSP-2000 in for a better LCD and a mic?? - We think… No. Unless Sony still have something up their sleeves in regards to improved battery life or an added feature.

Wolfenstein 3D PSP v5.0
Homebrew Developer Zack has released Wolfenstien 3d PSP version 5. This final release features many huge improvements, notably the sound is now perfect and you can instantly save and load. Plus it now features proper fullscreen and TV out. (See the changelog for the full list of fixes and improvements)

Sony’s not giving up on the dreaded UMD movie.. They plan to release 5-7 new movies each quarter, all costing $9.99 to $14.99. They also say the new UMD movies should the target audience, so no romantic crap of any sort.

Homebrew developer Raphael has released a bugfix update to Joysens. Must importantly it fixes the UMD driver bug that was present. Joysens is a PSP Analog joystick tweaker application that lets users adjust the sensitivity.
Changelog:
- fixed compatibility issues with Sony UMD driver (and possibly some other applications that require more kernel memory) The config file system now uses a mere 1Kb of RAM where it used 24+Kb in 1.4/1.41 - Reduced module size a bit (to further help memory problems) - added a workaround info output for POPS (flickers a lot, but at least you see something) - fixed the adjust calculation to avoid crashes for high values (shouldn’t happen anymore even with adjust 32.0) - fixed a little Button remapping bug
