Neur0n has released an update to the 6.38 ME CFW. This CFW works with a 1000 & 2000 till Datacode 8B.

– What is this?–
This is CFW work on PSP1000 and PSP2000.

The degree of stability is still unknown.
Please test it on your own and refer to different people’s test reports.

–How to Install–
First, you need to install CFW or HEN in your PSP.

1. copy UPDATE folder at ms0:/PSP/GAME/.
2. Put 6.38 official update at ms0:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE/638. .
3. Run installer from xmb.

– features –
Hold R trigger and turn on the psp, you can enter recovery menu.
Hold Home button and turn on the psp, you can Boot OFW.

– Credit –
This CFW is based Dark_AleX’s 5.00M33.
And usbdev.prx is his own.

    Nba2k11, and mlb2k11 get an error or just act like its statring then shuts off. I have issues wih 6.20 permant . going back to 6.20 until the bugs are worked out. The upgrade does work . Can play most of my hombrew. Crash bandicoot ps1 game glitches.

      Have you tried changing the Disc-Load Speed to Fast? Home -> Other Settings -> Disc-Load Speed. It’s helped me with PSX games giving me the black screen after boot.

        Are you talking about 6.38 ME? I cannot find this setting anywhere. I have a pile of PSX games I ripped using PSX2PSP that worked in 5.00 M33 but they simply will not work in 6.38 ME. I’ve seen people saying on a couple sites that theirs are working, but nobody seems to be able to say exactly how for this “goes to black after booting the PSX game”.

      here make new folder GAME/UPDATE/Eboot.pbp/638.pbp

      the Eboot.pbp is the 6.38me3 patch then the Oficial firmaware 6.38 ofw rename like this 638.pbp paste it in one UPDATE folder… then run it and wait to flash it dont worry you psp 1gboard cant brick bec they can back to normal if you have a pandora mmc and battery in my psp fat its works alot

    This may be off topic but, How come PSPFan isn’t the one giving updates anymore? It’s strange, I’ve always looked to PSPFan for my psp news (Except when he’s really late and I have to check on dash hacks) But now it’s flofrucht. Whats going on man, I’m freaking out!

      Because mobo TA-088v3, PSP 3g, PSP 4g and so on have a pre-IPL loader. It wasn’t cracked and probably won’t be for a very long time.

    This is stupid. It says works on 02g psp. My PSP ta v833 is 02g. And it says from 8A to 8D. My PSP has 8c datacode. WTF.

        yes it will work on all psp-1000 (phat), the version.txt is a file in the psp flash that tells the psp the firmware version, 5.50 prometheus changes the contents of that file to make the psp think it’s version 9.90 so you can play new games without updating. if you want to modify the file press select and choose usb device to be flash0, plug the psp to a computer and search for the file

        Thanks for that reply re version.txt. I’m not a noob – have 3 phats and 1 slim and psping for last 7yrs or so. But I’ve been lucky enough not to have had to go i nto the flash area yet. I was stumped – but that did the trick, I had 5.50me3 and so changed the value from 9.90 to 5.50.

    Just installed it from 6.35 pro b5 and worked great. Just my psx games are not working. It just goes to a blank screen before the sony logo appears. Why is it not working? It used to work before.

    I have cfw 6.38 ME-2. Will I be able to just put the update files onto my PSP and run it, or do I have to downgrade then update for this latest release?

      You can just run the update. It should work just fine.

    This CFW works on every game except Pac-Man Championship mini. Other than that it works great for all of my emulators, PSX, and newer PSP titles.

      if you are running prome, you probably have a version.txt that has 9.90 firmware..
      First set your USB device to flash0.. be careful though, wrong move can cause a brick. search for your version.txt and edit a line in there from 9.90 to 5.50. Save and close then unplug USB..
      Download 6.38 ME and 6.38 official update.
      Edit the 6.38 official update from UPDATE.PBP to 638.PBP.
      Put it together with the UPDATE.PBP (ME) and 638.PBP (official) to you memstick…
      PSP/GAME/UPDATE
      Charge your battery up to 75% or higher to update.
      Run the updater on you xmb Game..
      INSTALL and your done…

    i’ve upgraded to CFW6.39 ME-5 – the main problem is I can’t run hardly any of my homebrew progs and games. PSP Rhythm 8 works fine – but it is one of the most compatible Homebrew progs around. But nearly all others give the old – cannot run this game – error 8002014C. Is there a new patch, or update of Promthesius for this CFW ver.? I’ve been searching the net without success so far. Please let me know if anyone has any ideas. I have 3 phats and 1 slim. Have only upgraded 1 phat so far. Thanks, Dain
