5.03 GEN-A Custom Firmware released! CFW on PSP-3000′s

PSPGEN have released Custom Firmware 5.03GEN-A for HEN!! What does this mean? Well its something many of us have been waiting for since the PSP-3000 was released. Full blown Custom Firmware is now possible on your PSP-3000 / PSP-2000 TA088v3. Thanks to and PSPGen.com. Just watch the video above as proof this works.

How to Install,

Pre installation: Make sure you have a PSP-3000 or PSP-2000 with Firmware 5.03 – You need this for ChickHEN R2 to work.

  1. Download ChickHEN R2 by Davee & Team Typhoon
  2. Download 5.03 GEN-A Custom Firmware.
  3. Install ChickHEN and run/load ChickHEN R2
  4. Follow these steps below

01. Connect your PSP to the computer in USB Mode when you have loaded ChickHEN R2.
02. Unzip 5.03GEN-A_for_HEN.zip on your desktop by example
03. double-click on LAUNCH-ME.exe (GUI)
04.PSP Model : choose options PSP-2000 or PSP-3000 (depends of your PSP)
05.Mode : Choose option FULL
06. PSP Install : Choose option YES
07. Push START.
08.the files are copied on your PSP.
09. Disconnect the PSP from USB.
10. Launch the main EBOOT.PBP / Loader using ChickHEN R2 (only R2! NOT R1!).
11. When the app load, press L or R to flash the firmware in your flash. YOU ONLY NEED MAKE IT ONE TIME!
12. Press () to reboot in the custom firmware.

Known Bugs:

The RECOVERY MODE of the 5.02GEN-A was patché to turn on the PSP-3000. It makes it possible to modify the majority of the usual options. Note that we some problems with this recovery in VSH and will undoubtedly have to be awaited a patch encounters correction so that it is functional at 100%. Note that SMALL GEN VSH functions, him, very well.

    Peace pplz i was just trying to make this i launched the launch me exe thingy but instead of the files being copied on the psp they got copied on the desktop anyone had this problem ? i even directed where to install on my drive nothing worked still the same thing the files won’t copy on the psp only on the desktop ………. help thanks :)

      Hi! You have to use the command line tool instead, i had the same problem. The command line tool fixed it. Open up cmd (cmd in run) find the folder where the commadline tool is (its the other executable inside the same directory as the program you tried) load it up in cmd and do as it says :) ! (I dont have it here right now, but its quite simple)

      NO!… nothing you can do on a PSP 3000 with 5.50. Has been said a million times before.

      hey dumbosai i once encounter that problem, the problem is in the net frame of you’re computer, if the current net frame of you’re computer is lesser than 3.5 it definitely wont work try upgrading youre net frame k? gudluck!! info by pumpitup!!! tenx men more power pinoy!!!!! ^_^

    Hi guys, I have a problem I’m using a PSP 3000 with OFW 5.03 , I loaded up ChickHen R2 and installed this but every time I boot in CFW my screen goes black and the PSP powers off. Any ideas?

      No need men! once you loaded Gen-A 5.03 CFWE, it’s already OK to change MS/Memory Card as long as you only put your PSP to sleep mode upon not using it. I’m already doing this so its OK, and as the installation for GEN-A 5.03 said that the FILES folder(mso:/files) should be removed so that the accidental activation of the GEN-A 5.03 CFWE EBOOT should not work as said on the Installation guide. I did not remove mine ’cause I use my other MS to reload ChickHEN R2 and GEN-A 5.03 CFWE since sometimes my PSP shuts itself off 4 times after this CFWE was released.

    hey guys..my psp 3004 hangs while playing iso games…i had tried cfwe 3.30 bt didnt uninstalled gen-a.bt again i shut down the psp formatted the memory card and installed gen-a again.now if i put two or more iso games on ISO folder…psp get crashed while playing…bt not if i put only 1 iso game..i have 8 gb of memory stick…..is my flash is full?if yes then how to clean flash/ram/?plz helpp….

    i got psp2001 motherboard Tv88v3. Anyways my problem i installed chicken henr2 and cw 5.03 But everytime i completely turn off my psp it went back to OFW 5.03 so i have to redo everything again. plss helppp !!!

      Are you F-ing kidding??? have read any of the messages in this board??? You have to leave the PSP in sleep mode in order to keep the CFW going. If you shut it off, you loose it. That is how it works! So just do yourself a favor and put your PSP in sleep mode if you want to keep the CFW running. By the way, this has been discussed and answer in about 1000 of the posts here.

    ONCE AGAIN!

    Answers to a few things that keep coming back about the this CFW:

    1. NO!!! You can’t downgrade your PSP-3000 from 5.5+ to 5.03. If you upgraded to 5.5+ then sorry, there is nothing you can do for now!
    2. NO!!!! The CFW (no matter which one GEN-A or 3.30) won’t stay loaded on your PSP-3000 if you turn off the system. If turning off the system switches off the CFW, imagine what taking the battery off would do!!! After you load your CFW if you want to keep it loaded just leave the PSP on sleep mode when not in use. If you turn it off you have to go through the CFW loading process.
    3. ISO/CSO files have to be on a root folder called ISO. Place your ISO/CSO files there and they should run as long as you have switched to “M33 driver” in the UMD ISO MODE under the VSH menu.

    Those who have the 5.03, ENJOY! If you bought a PSP-3000 recently, only the older core and Daxter bundles are likely to have OFW 5.03 or lower. The Rock Band Bundle is 5.50. If you got a PSP with 5.5, exchange it for a core system and almost certainly you will have 5.02. Only upgrade to 5.03 OFW by downloading from sites like this. Sony only offers 5.51 now!

      You only can do it if you have Firmware 5.03 or less… If you do, then just follow the extensive tutorial and instructions about how to go about running CFW on your PSP 3000. You will need to download ChickHEN R2 and GEN-A 5.03 or Custom Firmware Enabler to run ISO/CSO, etc….

      u should only FLASH once and just reboot thereafter. Do not press L next time, try only () and see what happens.

    Hi ca somebody please help me on this? i’m using psp 3000. i’ve followed all the instructions on the installation of the chickenr2 but everytime i click on the chicken folder in my psp, my psp just crashes. every freakin’ time! it doesn’t do the automatic reboot thing wih the green light and stuff, as some of you guys say. i’ve copied all the instructions from youtube, to no avail.

    by the way, this psp has already been converted many times. i brought this to a local computer shop and they have already done it. unfortunately, my 4-year old son turns the unit off every other day so my wife has to bring the psp to the store to convert it again. i was just planning to learn this thing on my own to save further trips to the store every time my son ‘un-converts’ it. unfortunately, ive followed all instructions to the letter and i still can’t do it. please help me. thanks.

      ok, here we go again. Are you wasting your money at “store”???? If you are, that is dumb man. Anyway, here is what I do when my PSP crashes or shuts off for whatever reason after running ChickHen. This has been posted about 20 times here, but I will give you another chance to read it.
      This is what you need to do if you are having problems:
      1. Plug your PSP to a computer with the USB cord.
      2. Delete the file egghunt.bin in your main directory from the Memory Stick Duo.
      3. DIsconnect your PSP form the computer.
      4. Shut the PSP off and then start it up again.
      5. After it is up and running go to the Photo folder and try to run the hack as you should know.
      6. Repeat steps 5 and 6 until it works. It might still take a few tries (3-5 times) but it works.

    hello ive got my psp to the CFW but everytime i hard reset it (hold down the power button until it turns off) it reverts back to the OFW any suggestions on how to stop this?

    I did a stupid thing, just before I saw this I updated my version to a 5.51 damn for series 3000 :( , now i have to wait if they could find a way to help with this problem if they could it would be such a surprise, and it would be worth praising for XD

    Got ChickHEN up and running on my PSP 3000, no problem at all.

    ..The problem starts when i try to install this. I’ve got everything on my memory card, but neither PSPident or the Loader works. At all. It just crashes to the menu with the 8001 bullshit.
