5.03 GEN-A Custom Firmware released! CFW on PSP-3000′s

PSPGEN have released Custom Firmware 5.03GEN-A for HEN!! What does this mean? Well its something many of us have been waiting for since the PSP-3000 was released. Full blown Custom Firmware is now possible on your PSP-3000 / PSP-2000 TA088v3. Thanks to GENyUS and PSPGen.com. Just watch the video above as proof this works.

How to Install,

Pre installation: Make sure you have a PSP-3000 or PSP-2000 with Firmware 5.03 – You need this for ChickHEN R2 to work.

Download ChickHEN R2 by Davee & Team Typhoon
Download 5.03 GEN-A Custom Firmware.
Install ChickHEN and run/load ChickHEN R2
Follow these steps below

01. Connect your PSP to the computer in USB Mode when you have loaded ChickHEN R2.
02. Unzip 5.03GEN-A_for_HEN.zip on your desktop by example
03. double-click on LAUNCH-ME.exe (GUI)
04.PSP Model : choose options PSP-2000 or PSP-3000 (depends of your PSP)
05.Mode : Choose option FULL
06. PSP Install : Choose option YES
07. Push START.
08.the files are copied on your PSP.
09. Disconnect the PSP from USB.
10. Launch the main EBOOT.PBP / Loader using ChickHEN R2 (only R2! NOT R1!).
11. When the app load, press L or R to flash the firmware in your flash. YOU ONLY NEED MAKE IT ONE TIME!
12. Press () to reboot in the custom firmware.

Known Bugs:

The RECOVERY MODE of the 5.02GEN-A was patché to turn on the PSP-3000. It makes it possible to modify the majority of the usual options. Note that we some problems with this recovery in VSH and will undoubtedly have to be awaited a patch encounters correction so that it is functional at 100%. Note that SMALL GEN VSH functions, him, very well.

@kuneiro, check your microsoft .net framework by going to Control Panel, Add or Remove Settings and then look for .NET Framework, if it’s lower than 3.5 i think, then you should upgrade that, my suggestion
@razorknight, cso is essentially an iso so it will work the same as iso

@Blaqdymun, if you have ta090v2 mobo, Gen-A runs best here, but if you have the mobos with 8 somewhere on the code, some people say that CFW Enabler works best, oh just read your last comment, well thank you, i don’t even know why i’m helping but it felt good

@PSP streamer, i don’t think you can hack your PSP yet
@mib92, try getting the CFW Enabler on other websites, dark-alex forum has it or you could google it

@oh man…, if you’re trying to run Gen-A, you might want to change to CFWE, but i’ve never tried CFWE, cause Gen-A was easier for me

@mib92, or try Gen-A from dark-alex.org/forums be sure to check of your PSP is 3000, cause in some PSP 2000 cases, some PSP just got bricked because they have the latest model of 2000 which is i think is unhackable for the moment, i suggest Gen-A of you have ta090 v2, you can always run PSPident if your ChickHen is enabled

When u have this mod i know that you must not turn off ur PSP from the button,but go into standby.If i turn it off using the shutdown command in the VSH menu, will the mod lost?

I’ve followed all steps succesfully but the last one, everytime I press () it doesn’t reboot in the custom firmware, it just shuts down!!! any Ideas????

the data is corrupt somewhere in your steps. redo them all. be sure you have official 5.03 firmware first. then load chickhen r2 then gen-a. check your settings each time to be sure it is changing and check the games>memory stick to see if it is clear…if showing data corrupt, something is wrong.

can anyone help me with NitePR? im trying to hack SWBF RS(StarWars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron)
online… BUT i can play for like 30secs with hacks, then my psp crashes, and im getting sick of reloading ChickHEN GEN-A. i think its mostly what hacks i use.. whenever i try to use rapid fire it crashes right away (only when i shoot with it)… but stuff like inf health, it lasts a lil’ then crashes… do i just have screwed up codes? i dunno.. i would really appreciate it if someone could help me solve my poblem… im getting so anxious to cheat online LOL

I have successfully installed ChickHEN R2 and 5.03 GEN-A CFW in my psp 3001. After 1 day of playing homebrew games and ISO, I was surprised that my PSP restarted and back to OFW 5.03, I tried to install those stuff again but Now I cant install them. Pls help!

hi problem… i have psp 3000 and successfully installed the 5.03 GEN-A. but when im in the menu my psp is slow but when im in the game it was normal. and it all started when i enter the recovery mode and exit then my psp begin to slow and now i cant enter recovery mode even if i press select. plss help!

you should still have chickhenr2 in the photo>memory stick. just go back and redo it again and then go to games>loader and click that to enable gen-a. did you completely shut down your psp because that will exit both programs.

Answers to a things that keep coming back about the PSP-3000 and CFW:

1. NO!!! You can’t downgrade your PSP-3000 from 5.5+ to 5.03. If you upgraded to 5.5+ then sorry, there is nothing you can do for now/
2. NO!!!! The CFW (no matter which one GEN-A or 3.30) won’t stay loaded on your PSP-3000 if turn off the system. If turning off the system switches off the CFW, imagine what taking the battery off would do!!! After you load your CFW and you want to keep it on just leave the PSP on sleep mode when not in use. If you turn it off you have to go through the CFW loading process.
3. ISO/CSO have to be on a root folder called ISO. Place your ISO/CSO files there and they should run as long as you have switched to “M33 driver” in the UMD ISO MODE under the VSH menu.

Those who have the 5.03, ENJOY! If you bought a PSP-3000 recently, only the older core and Daxter bundles are likely to have OFW 5.03 or lower. The Rock Band Bundle is 5.50. If you got a PSP with 5.5, exchange it for a core system and almost certainly you will have 5.02. Only upgrade to 5.03 OFW by downloading from sites like this. Sony only offers 5.51 now!

Answers to a few things that keep coming back about the PSP-3000 and CFW:

Everything is set and copy files to the root folder as you said in section 3. I also tried to change the UMD ISO MODE to “Sony NP9660″ but I can’t play an ISO game. An ISO game is loaded, then a blank screen comes up. Can you please help?

Did you check in your system information that it says “5.03 GEN-A (Full) is your running firmware? Is your ISO folder in the root directory? Did you try a different ISO? Is it a PSP ISO (duh!)? just in case What is the ISO you are trying to run?

I don’t know if anyone has come upon this cause I’ve just gotten back into PSP CFW and stuff again, YaY for breakthrough – PSP2000 ta88v3 owner. Thank you to everyone that’s been behing all of the CFW scenes!

Anyway….The thing is, I’ve gotten ChickHEN R2 going right, and I’ve been trying out CFW Enabler 3.30 as well.
So for my experimentation i restarted from the beginning with OFW 5.03 -> ChickHEN R2 -> and got the 5.03GEN-A going.

Now I shutdown my PSP again, did OFW 5.03 -> ChickHEN R2 again

NOTE: I have already deleted my “files” folder and renamed my flasher.prx

So now 5.03GEN-A won’t load and get’s an error, this is normal right?

Now what I went and tried to do instead of loading 5.03GEN-A, I tried loading CFW Enabler 3.30 instead, and that didn’t work.

But what did happen is it loaded up 5.03GEN-A instead …..LawL…and now it looks like I need to find a way to be able to load CFW Enabler 3.30 again

What you guys think? I will try putting back the “files” folder and INSTALL-LOADER files and see how i can go about this >.>

Man… it seems like you have screwed with your Flash0. When installing CFE 3.30 you should have chosen to “Uninstall” from the menu in order to uninstall GEN-A and then install CFE 3.30. I don’t get what you were doing by renaming Flasher.prx. This are the instruction on how to substitute GEN-A for CFE:
How to install CFW 3.30 if you already have 5.03 GEN-A:
1. Turn off your PSP
2. Turn on your PSP
3. Start ChickHEN R2
4. Connect PSP to PC
5. Copy necessary CFWE 3.30 files to your memory stick
6. Press (O) to exit USB Mode
7. Scroll over to your Game menu and find the CFWEnabler 3.30 icon
8. Start up CFWEnabler 3.30
9. Select the “Uninstall” option to uninstall GEN-A files from your flash0 to keep it clean.
10. Select “Flash and Start”
11. Wait for it to finish.
12. Select “Yes” when promted to reboot into CFW
13. Enjoy and don’t remove ANY of CFWEnabler files from your memory stick or rename them.
14. DO remove the GEN-A files from your memory stick.

Yea, I think i did screw up the Flash0 when I restarted from OFW 5.03.
But what I don’t get is how i did screw it up…
I had GEN-A loaded…good, shutdown psp, redid ChickHEN R2, then now when at STEP 7, I try to start up CFWEnabler 3.30 (STEP it won’t get into CFWEnabler 3.30 but goes to black screen and goes back to XMB.
As I said, instead of loading CFWEnabler it loaded GEN-A instead >.>
I’m screwed aren’t I ? I’m stuck with GEN-A until there’s an uninstaller in GEN-A itself…

Anyways i have a PSP 3001 running on OFW 5.03

Now I have installed the CHICKHEN R2 successfully and see it in my system settings/software info.

I am having trouble installing the 5.03 Gen-A Custom firmware on my psp. I have read all the instructions step by step, i have unziped the downloaded 5.03 Gen-A Custom firmware folder using winrar. and have launched the “LAUNCH-ME” GUI within the extracted 503gen-for-hen-pspgen folder on my laptop; while i have ChickHen R2 running and on USB mode. Just like the instructions say. Now In GUI box that opens up i have selected the options….

PSP Model: PSP-3000
Mode: Full
PSP Install: yes
PSP Unit drive: ??(what does this mean)?

the only one option i have not changed or modified is obviously the PSP unit drive, well…because i dont know what its asking for. without it, i would hit start. and it says its done. i go over to the game memory stick folder on XMB and look for the installer but its not there. its just blank.

did i skip something?, or is there something i am doing wrong?. I have CHICKHEN R2 running successfully. its just the 5.03 Gen-a firmware that i have trouble with. is it because of the PSP unit drive option not be changed? can Someone please be kind enough to help me. and maybe others who have the same problem that are looking for a solution in the comments right now

“PSP unit drive” means the letter drive that PSP was assigned under windows. Like any USB drive you put in, it gets assigned a drive “Letter:”. Enter that letter without the “:”… for example, if under windows explorer you see that your PSP is assigned the letter “E:”, just type “E” on the PSP Unit drive field.

So, I got a 3000 today. It was a 4.01 and I updated to 5.03. Got Chicken R2 installed. Now I extracted the CFW. And run the laucher.exe. Did, all the settings. I pops up done. What do then? I checked my Game memory and there was nothing in there. I then noticed all the files are in the CFW folder. What do I do?

attski after installing R2 , use custom loader 3.20, dont use 3.30
and open3.20 ———uninstall the flash memory and then again open the 3.20 and install the software to flash memory and then you can get m33-6 firmware

ok i know im on the wrong discussion link for this but i gotta get this out, hopefully someone passes it on….

(update 5.51) really dude? i have a 145 IQ and i KNOW im a genius…i just havent learned squat about psp yet. but after your stupidity (180 IQ my right nut!) i do know that puttin 5.51 on my psp slim had to be a bad idea! and if you do work for sony like sooooo many ppl said….SONY? Ok– I installed it through the memory card reader and it “worked” but when I went to flash it on the PSP it said something about the module not being found. Any ideas?
